I agree that they can't be compared, but I don't think you can say one is harder than the other.skbasnett said:Again...you didnt read my post very well. I said that You can not compare the jobs. OBVISOULY a firefighter or a policeman has much harder work. Only a fool would think otherwise.
Well, if you're going to insult the intelligence /education of an entire group of people, you'd better be sure you're not living in a glass house!Lisa loves Pooh said:Oh goody for you--as do I...but I like to type quickly and didn't realize I was being graded on this assignment.
I was pointing out that the school system treats us like salaried employees when it suits them and treats us like hourly employees when it doesn't. This is not true of most salaried employees.

I've taught quite a few students who were just not academic. They were good kids, good citizens, and they're going to do fine in the world. But they would never make it as teachers.
I, on the other hand, would never make it as a firefighter or policeman.
It's not a matter of hard or easy. It's a matter of finding a job that fits your skill set.

It seems that you dont know alot of what you are doing. I see why it says Dont MISquote me under your name.

No worries--SW in my hubby's field is software and I was trying to figure out what a software person would be complaining about.
MrsPete said:Every teacher on this thread is laughing right now! You can't get it done during the school day -- even if you stay late.
I really don't think you do know what a public school teachers' job entails.
I agree & actually there is more than 1 person on this thread who does not know what they are talking about.
WIcruizer said:I would use the word "common" to describe how many teachers get 3 months off. That's not just summer, it includes Christmas Break, Spring Break, various teachers conferences, etc. Add it all up and the average is pretty close to 3 months off in an awful lot of states/districts.
Since you mentioned prom, i would guess you're a HS teacher. That's a different situation. There is more work involved grading papers, and you certainly can't get it all done during the day. Then again, HS teachers are paid more than K-6.
WIcruizer said:But do you have the courage to name them, and point out exactly what was said to draw you to that conclusion?
I think you know who you are.
Lisa loves Pooh said:It says that b/c I was accused not once but 3 times on 3 seperate threads of saying something I didn't say and I got my panties in a bunch and posted a thread to say don't misquote me. The accusers/misquoters didn't use the quote function and felt it necessary to attribute statements to me that I would never say. The Tag Fairy decided to put it there (and in my ignorance--I don't know what that area is called. Doesn't matter what degree I have--not a clue what it is called!)
I'm having a discussion on a message board and write the way I would speak...and my brain is not quick to process a homonym for correct spelling.
I'm glad that you share a quality with Mary Poppins. But I don't have the time to word for word--grade your posts. That is just disrespectful and really doesn't validate your argument anyway.
edited for error (wrong word) as I'm tired of getting picked on by teachers who resort to picking a part posts to prove their point.Gee--is this how you treat your LD and ADD students! By insulting their intelligience b/c they misspelled a word or interchanged words. You must really be stressed!
WIcruizer said:No, I don't. You see, it's easy to come in and make a random comment with nothing to back it up. If you disagree with someone, be an adult and state an example of what you consider to be "not knowing what they're talking about." Otherwise you have no credibility. (Wow...seems like I DO know what I'm talking about.)
