Okay - I definately want to experience the Vista Spa but I don't want to pay for a treatment. Can someone please explain to me the rainforest room and the showers? How does it work? How much does it cost? Pretty much explain it to me like I am five years old ;)

The rainforest room costs $15 for a one day pass - not sure how much the multi day passes cost.

Any kind of "treatment" in the spa is going to cost you - none of it is free. :(

We visited the Rainforest Rooms many times during our recent back-to-back. You have a choice of 3 sauna rooms - which vary in heat! Also there are some lounger chairs which are heated (lovely way to relax). There are showers that have various scents..........cant remember them all, sorry.

Lovely way to spend an hour, if the weather isnt so good. Would only book one day at a time though, as if your weather is lovely, you wont want to waste time indoors. $15 per day. We enjoyed it, but there are many, many more things to do onboard. Nat :cool1:

Can you just "show up" a day at the time, or do you make appts.?

Hi Amanda!

The Rainforest Room is a great way to experience the Vista Spa and still have money for other aspects of the cruise! :)

You can either buy single day passes or multi-day passes up to the length of the cruise. I believe unlimited access for the whole cruise runs about $50 or so.

Upon entering the spa you can just tell one of the counter attendents that you would like to use the Rainforest Room. They'll charge your Key to the World Card and provide you with a small basket with locker key and robe. You can change in the locker room and then walk to the Rainforest Room right around the corner.

Once inside you'll see a large central room with a fountain in the middle and heated tile loungers. Off of this center room are the "scented spa rooms." Three to be exact with various levels of steam and/or dry heat and scents. Try 'em all and you'll soon find your favorite. There are also two scented showers off of the main room where you can cool down and a water fountain. Towels are located inside the room as well.

How you spend your time inside the Rainforest room is up to you. Most people go in and out of the various steam rooms and then cool down in-between on the tile loungers. It's generally very quiet and relaxing with the sounds from the fountain and very quiet music piped in.

From what I recall, the various rooms are as follows:

Dry Heat room: Very little steam and no scent.
Peppermint Room: Medium heat and steam with peppermint.
Citrus Room: The most intense of the three. Lots of steam and lots of heat!

As mentioned, the Rainforest Room actually is a good value for the Vista Spa. It let's you experience the serenity of the place without spending a small fortune.

Hope you have a great cruise!

kmiles gave a great discription. The unlimited pass for the 7 day cruise used to be $50, but recent reports have indicated that it has gone up to $75, which is not worth it in my opinion. You basically need to use it every day to make the unlimited pass worthwhile.

Having said that, the Rainforest room is great, and I plan on using it about 7 days out of the 14 on our upcoming cruise.

Can you share the unlimited pass with your family memebers? My DD would love it and I know I enjoy the wet steam room. If I bought an unlimited could I use it one time and DD or DH use it another?

Thanks

I'd have to check with DCL - but my gut feeling is "no" that you cannot "share" a rainforest pass - it's probably tied to your KTTW (which has your name on it) so it would be hard for a husband to pass himself of as his wife :teeth:

No, you can not share an unlimited pass. You check in at the desk, they have your name on the list..they hold your kttw card while you are in. You daughter unless she is an adult will not be welcome in the spa.

No appointments are necessary for the Rainforest Room. You can show up anytime during regular operating hours and they'll charge your room key accordingly.

I just looked over my literature from our January sailing and I don't see anything about purchasing a "family" pass for the Rainforest. I know that DH and I each had to buy our own and they affixed a sticker to each of our room keys. Whenever we went in, they took our keys and cross checked us on their master list. Your DD needs to be 18 or older in order to use any of the facilities in the Vista Spa, including the healthclub area.

Bottom line, unless you use the rainforest every day, they unlimited pass really isn't a bargain. They usually end up offering a "sea day" pass for 3 days, which can be a good deal. Also, there is a sauna in the locker room which you can use at no charge--the fitness center and locker room are complementary.

The rainforest is nice, but on our last cruise I actually ended up spending MORE on the unlimited use than I would have if I had just paid for each time I went.

It won't be open on either Saturday (on embarkation day, it is being used for tours and selling), so you really only had the chance to use it 6 days.
