I don't understand the Dining Plan

credits? snacks during the day-how many snacks? limits? and is the Dining Pass a good deal for a couple with only an infant?

At the top of this forum there is a sticky thread titled "Everything you always wanted to know." That is the FAQ thread about the Disney Dining Plans. There are three different plans to choose from and that thread will give an overview on the entitlements you get with each, the cost, and ways to use the plans.

The main thing you should know is that children under 3 can't be on the dining plan, so your party would have two adults on the plan. As to whether it's a good deal or not will depend completely on how you plan to eat on your trip.

I've read it and I've had it explained to me, but I still can not gauge if its actually worth the price. It seems like you are forced to eat like crazy just to get your money's worth out of the card.

"Worth the price" is the most subjective thing about the dining plan and can't be calculated for you by anyone but you and your party. If one of the three plans fits the way your party likes to eat, you may be able to actually save money with one. If there isn't a plan that fits your group's preferences, you might be happier without a dining plan.

Even things like the number of snacks you're entitled to can't be calculated until you actually choose one of the three plans, as the entitlements are different for each one.

You need to compare how you would normally eat (what restaurants - table service or counter service, signature dining or not, character meals, how much you would spend at the restaurant, etc.) and the price for that against the price of the dining plan per day. It will be different for every family and no one can tell you if it's a good deal for you or not.

You can find the restaurant menus at allears.net. Crunching the numbers is the only way to make the value determination for you.

It all depends on what and how you usually would eat. If you would normally do a table service meal every day, it may be worth it. If you are more of a counter service, grab and go, type person then it probably isn't worth it.

The best way to figure it out is to check out the menus on wdwinfo or on allears and calculate approximately what you would spend on your meals out of pocket. Personally, unless we go during free dining, we don't feel like it is worth it for us.

Thanks! my wife and I rarely eat out-mainly because I enjoy cooking myself and quiet frankly, it's healthier. But living resort style without a kitchen in the room (Wilderness Lodge), we don't have a choice.
