I don't see the savings in Southwest?!

whenever I price LAX to MCO on Southwest, it's only a little bit cheaper than other carriers. However, with United or Delta, I can get a non-stop flight! With Southwest, I can't!

What am I not seeing? I always hear of people getting such great deals on Southwest!

The deals don't come out on opening day. Yes they have regular Internet sale prices but not the deals.

When it gets close to 30 to 45 days out of travel they have good sales for most flights. Then with in that last 30 days you can get Dings that drop the price even lower.

For both my Oct & Dec trips I started out with oneways at the price of $79 and $135 (Oct didn't book until way after opening). I then got sales on most for $59 . Then the Dings came and I ended up with $43 flights for 2 and $49 for another. So my $179 RT flights ended up being $122 and $112 RT .

Then our last June trip was flying on Sundays and got 1 sale price but no Dings and ended up at $169 still not that bad.

I just booked 4 flights for our June and Aug. trips at $79 with fees so here to hopes of a sale or Ding.
