I don't like Boardwalk

So far I have had good success at BWV. Sorry you don't like it. I love the location. I did not stay there this year.

Can't remember room number..we overlooked a roof near community hall. Preferred view was supposed to be waterview or boardwalk view of which we had neither(except a slim glance of the waterway)just a lovely view of a roof. If I had not had to use the extra points to stay there it would have been fine..I am not one for "views", I never request anything like that, but the fact of using the points and not getting what was stated is the issue. No one at the desk would even address the situation. We let it go afterall it is WDW! We still had a great vacation..MS rectified the situation after we got home. Just won't return.

OP, when are you going? We have a 2 bdr at SSR and are waitlisted for BWV 11/8-11/14. Maybe we can switch?:rolleyes1

I like BWV more for location and the low point cost of a standard view room, the resort itself I could take or leave. I like the Boardwalk with the nearby shops and dining and the easy access to Epcot and DHS. I've stayed at BWV twice and will stay again.

Some of the pool/garden preferred view rooms are bad views. Sounds like you were in the quiet pool area. I'm surprised you got a refund of points, someone else had a valet parking lot view for preferred (with the waterway to the right if you leaned over) and they would not do anything.

I'm starting to get nervous about my trip in January!:scared1: It will be our first staying at BWV and I could have booked VWL instead, but decided to try BWV.

Hopefully, we'll have great experiences there!

I really enjoyed the location of the Boardwalk and thought the theming was fantastic. The pool was ok - but the actual Boardwalk itself was a blast in the evening.

Our room seemed fine when we stayed (Oct 2006), but I am sure they get worn no matter where you stay.

I agree with this viewpoint.

The location and Boardwalk area are what made us book a trip there next month. My DH takes the older two boys to the Boardwalk practically every night - they love the performers! We've haven't been lucky enough to snag a BW view villa but from the pictures I've seen it's incredible.

We stayed there a view years ago on our first DVC trip and really enjoyed our stay. I'm sure some villas are more worn out than others. I guess when we go back we'll get a first hand look at "wear and tear". Didn't BWV just get new carpeting not too long ago? Maybe it was BCV?

As far as the pool goes, I've heard some say they don't like the big clown head but for those of you who don't care for the pool, why is that? I remember it being a decent size and the slide is pretty high and long - my boys really enjoyed it.

We stayed there in September 2007 and didn't have any issues- I don't recall any problems with the rooms. We are staying there again January. We wanted AKL but they were full (our home resort is BCV).

My kids (3yo and 5yo) really like Boardwalk- they can do the clown slide by themselves whereas with SAB DH or I have to help them cross the "street" for the pirate slide. My kids also love the Community Center with free games, crafts, movies, etc. And you can't beat the location. I do wish they had somewhere inside the resort to eat, though.

Hopefully, we will enjoy BWV again in January.;)

I'm sorry the op didn't like the BW. I have to say, I've never had an issue with either a CM or my room in all the times I've stayed there. I will admit that I closely looked at the carpets after reading all the reports about them and I too agree they really should be replaced. I prefer the BW over SSR for vacations that have special events planned; like F&W. But otherwise we'll stay at SSR.

Sorry to read about all the members unhappy with their stays at the BWV.

Guess that's going to mean more room availability for us - WE LOVE THE BOARDWALK!

I prefer the condo style OKW and SSR over the 'hotel" style resorts (althougth the Contemporary may be an exception ;) ) Many people prefer the hotel amenities, like room service and valet parking.

The great thing about our DVC is that we have a choice. :)

in all likelihood, you will :)
different things appeal to different people. some ppl rave about the BCVs, but we (my DH, both kids, parents, DB, SIL, both nephews, & self) refuse to return there (constant, loud noise from early morn to late at night, in the lobby, by the pool, in the corridors :headache:, pools rediculously crowded with literally wall-to-wall bodies (in repeated "off season" visits), uninspired decor, boring balcony views. we prefer visiting the best thing there (in our opinion): the doorman, art, & staying elsewhere.
OKW is our other unlikely to ever go back. while the room sizes are great, we found the resort (both room & common areas) very dirty & unkempt. cms ranged from rude to simply unfriendly, bus system was poor (worst we experienced in 20 years of various WDW resorts), & the "old age home" atmosphere doesn't appeal to us in the least.

however, we love BWV & SSR for their unmatched elegance & charm, & great locations with a myriad of activities at your fingertips. btw, we find the "long walk" complaints humorous, as we tend to walk miles in the parks anyway:confused3 .

different strokes....:)

After being DVC members for over 16 years we stayed at BWV for the first time last month...one bedroom Broadwalk view. I am an OKW fan, so all the comparisons are relative to that resort, but the room we had (located on the fifth floor directly above the old DVC preview center) was tucked behind a portion of the building that effectively blocked your view when looking to the right. Nothing against BWV on this, just an unfortunate room assignment. The first thing that stuck me was the walk down the hall to get to the room--wow--glad I am not impared in any way or that walk could be an ordeal. The rooms felt noticably smaller than OKW and had much more that "hotel" feel. Pool was crowded and, of course, the clown is creepy. It's a great location--walk outside and there is the Boardwalk with everything it offers. But when we stay at OKW we always rent a car and the drive to Boardwalk is about 5 minutes with free valet parking--if don't feel I have to stay there to enjoy the amenities. The proximity to EPCOT is nice for the days you go to EPCOT, otherwise not a big plus. A nice place to walk at night, but I prefer the resort feel of OKW for a stroll. Overall would not stay at BWV again--just a matter of choice.

For me and long walks, I want to use all my time (Time is the one luxury you cannot buy) and energy walking in the parks, and do not really want to use up some of that time and energy out of the parks.
That being said, I was satisfied at my BWV stay.
My biggest complaint was the lack of DDP CS options (I really, really wanted to use those credits on a Spoodles to go pizza slice and/or a hot dog and Elephant ears on the boardwalk!), and secondly the lone fountain refill station in the bakery (I did not get the cup, but did not know in advance to stock up the fridge..) Overall I am starting to realize you cannot have the same vacation flow in all resorts, but if you plan to take advantage of what the resort could do for you, you will have a great stay ant any DVC resort.

When I caught the title of this, my first thought was...you crazy LOL

But everyone has their own tastes which is ok. I love the Boardwalk most, but I do have to say I really liked the layout and decor of the AKV quite a lot.

Hey Snackyx,

Scotty Bowman doesn't like the BWV either. :rotfl2:

What do you think about him leaving the Wings?

While I love BWV and have most of my points there, I agree that wear-and-tear is inevitable and starting to show. The fact that there are seldom empty rooms only exacerbates the issue. Every resort will be at this stage at some point. We hope to be at BWV for a few days in Oct. I'm sure the faded carpet will still be there and the dings in the furniture as well. I guess I will just have to focus on the BW view outside my room and suck it up until the refurbishment schedule runs its course!

The proximity to the parks, the boardwalk area, and especially, the boardwalk view at night. I love not having to rent a car and be able to get around without it a big plus for me.

What are the negatives about the pool at BWV?

Some people don't like the clown theme.
However count me as a BWV fan - we've always had great rooms and CMs there. As to the pool, we were at AKV this month and my kids said the Uzima pool and slide are not nearly as good as at BWV - they asked to go back to the clown pool next year.

BWV is our home resort and we love it for the Boardwalk view... however, the last room we had needed to be refurbished and housekeeping was poor. The furniture was extremely beat up (I wouldn't even have it in our basement). We do love the atmosphere but it is time to take a look at their housekeeping staff and to schedule a refurbishment of all rooms.

We've stayed at SSR and BC and did not have issues with either property. I am disappointed that they do not seem to be addressing these problems. Our last stay was 1 1/2 years ago and it doesn't seem to have changed according to the Dis reports. We also pay the highest dues other than Vero :confused3 . We have an upcoming stay at BWV and I hope the reports get better.
