We've never been to Cape Canaveral, what is it like? I thought it would be facinating to see the space shuttles and tour Kennedy. Any advice on which tours?

We have been there about 5 times!!! It is an awesome experience and really special if there happens to be a shuttle on the launch pad! We always take the bigger tour, I do not remember the name of it! If you have any interest at all in space travel this is an awesome place to visit! There also is an Astronaut Museum on your way into Cape Canaveral that has a great tour also.

I think my 9 year old son would love it, do they gear the tours so that kids like it? Also, how far is it from Disney?

Kennedy Space Center is a lot of fun! They really have revamped the Visitors Center so it's much more tourist-friendly than it was years ago. It's about 1 to 1.5 hours east of Disney on the Beeline Expressway.

My advice - get there early and take the bus tour as early as possible. The lines for the buses get longer throughout the day, particularly on weekends. Once you've done the bus tour, then you can walk around the visitors center and tour the exhibits.

Our Son loved it at 8 and at 12!!! He plans to work for NASA after college. :) He is almost 16 now and we want to take him back again but we can't fit it into our trip in 3 weeks. I believe it is just over an hour away from Disney. When you are done there, you can always go to the beach also. You will be right across from the launch pads!! It is well worth the money in my opinion!! I love the place!

Can anyone who has been give the specifics on the bus tour? How long is it? what kind of things do you see? Also, is there any way to find out in advance if there is a shuttle on the launch pad? Also, is it very $$$$. Any discounts out there? We are going Presidents week and all we have scheduled is Discovery Cove and Sea World. DH mentioned he liked to do this, but he has an ankle injury and can't do tons of walking. Any additional information would be great.

thanks
Jenn

I love KSC. I don't get there as often as I should. Anyway, try kennedyspacecenter.com for more info.

The Bus tour lasts as long as you want!!you start near a launch pad and then go to where there is things onall the rocket launches and finally ending up in the building where there is a mock of the Space station. This is what was there 2 yrs ago on the bus tour but it was quite interesting!
you alos go near where they keep the space shuttles in the VAB (vehicle assembly building) and go near where the space shuttle will travel on crawlers to get to the launch pad!

more info can be found athttp://www.ksc.nasa.gov/
