I don't know what to do

I'd like to buy some discounted 10 MYW non-expiry, plus tickets for future trips for my family, 3 adults 2 kids. I keep going back and forth about adding the hopper. It adds another 200 bucks to my total, and with Christmas coming I'm really leaning towards not getting the hoppers. We've only been to Disney one other time and we had the hoppers and used them. Oh I just don't know what to do. Then I keep thinking what if a package comes out and I have these tickets then I can't get the package. We probably won't be returning till Spring of 2008, so I thought I could save us some money buying the tickets now, but I just don't know what to do. Oh and we live 19 hours away from disney so it's not like I'd use them on future trips, I figure 2 more trips before the kids are too old to go and want to go somewhere else. Any thought to help me out of my dilemna.

If you are not going to go until 2008, why not get the tickets you planned on getting and then if you want to add on the hopper option when you get there you can. You can always upgrade tickets on arrival whether it be adding the hopper option or the no expire option. I am sure the prices will go up, but they won't go up too much for just that hopper option. That way you can get the hoppers but not pay for the option right away. I don't think i could do 10 days without the hopper option.

We always buy the max hoppers. We almost always hop, sometimes we dont and sometimes we hit 3 parks in a day. You just dont know what you next trip will hold

Which is an excellent reason not to buy the hopper until you go; if you don't hop, you save the money. If you want to hop, you add it and hop.

We bought our tickets in advance online, so I guess they were discounted? Then when we were at the parks we added the no expiration. We had to pay extra to bring our tickets up to current price (w/o the online discount) before we could add the no exp. feature. This is our first time at WDW, so we're new to the whole ticket thing. But I'm thinking you should get the hopper NOW if you think you'll possibly want it. Otherwise you lose the discount by adding the hopper later at the park.

All you more experienced dis'ers, does this sound right?

(we had to pay $58/ticket at the park to bring the price current and add the no exp. These were 7 day hoppers to start.)

Ummmm, sandcass that's what I need to know too(if we have to upgrade from discounted price to gate price, but then how would they know what we paid?)....and could we just say get the hopper on one days ticket if that's the day we wanted to hop or would I have to upgrade all the remaining days to hoppers? So many options for novice's. I'm just trying to plan and get us there as cheap as I can next time around.

OH NO :scared1: I didn't know you needed to bring it up to full gate price to add the no exp. feature. I'm so frustrated w/ the new tickets - they are just too confusing :badpc:

No you don't lose the discount.

Sandcass paid the right price to upgrade a pass to a no-expire. The cost to upgrade a 7 day MYW pass to no expire is $58.58 with tax. The cost to upgrade a 10 day MYW pass to no expire is $106.50 with tax.

We took the park hopper option off of our tickets on our AAA package before we made our final payment. I figure that if we really need it we can add it while we are there. Saved us almost $200! Plus we don't really plan on hopping this year anyway. Next year is a different story!

If I were not going until 2008, I wouldn't buy the tickets now at all (with or without hopping). I know that the price will increase between now and then, but there is alot I could do with that money between now and then. But that is just my opinion. (If I were buying tickets, I would add the hopping because we always hop and if I were putting out the money for the tickets, I would rather have them paid in full)

You would have to add the hopper option to all days, not just one day at a time. Also if you decide you want to hop halfway through, it would still be the same cost as if you would have hopped the whole time.

it all depends on if you are going to hop or not......do your plans include going to mk, or ak, or mgm in the am and epcot in the evening...that's where the hopper comes in....to buy with/without expiration....if you plan on another trip to WDW anytime in the future...buy the non-expiring...you'll pay 2005 prices andthey'll go up even in 2006....so you're saving money. I have an PAP and love the fact that after visiting the parks for 7 days....the rest of the year I'm paying $0!!!!!! We go 3 x's a year at least, so it pays for itself bigtime!!! and the extras that come along with it are great! I'd go with the non expiring hopper option...then you can go to any park any day you're there, and not have to worry about who wants to be where when!

And the days you don't use are there the next time you go back

Carrieberry what if the first trip we took we used 5 days and didn't hop, then the second trip with the remaining 5 days we want to hop I can just add the hopper to the remaining 5 days right? Not something stupid like have to add it to the whole original ticket which was 10 days. I think the next trip we are ok w/o hopping but it's the one after that I don't know about. But if I could just add the hopper to the last 5 days when we get to the gate, well that makes up my mind for me.

You have to pay the upgrade price based on the original number of days on the ticket. The park hopper option is $37.28 irregardless of the number of days of your ticket. The no expire and magic plus options are based on the original number of days and varies in cost.

Ok well now I have another question, regarding the ticket mania discount thru mousesavers. Without posting any numbers is the discount thru mousesavers ever anymore than it is now? And if so, typically what months is the discount more than now. Any mousesaver readers know. I don't think I should get in trouble with this post since I didn't post any numbers, uh.
