I do have a virus and tonsilitis. The doctor told me to not expect to feel better for about a week. I'm eating lots of soft foods and ice cream and drinking a lot of cold drinks.

Tonsilitis hurts just as much as strep! I had my tonsils yanked out 8 years ago and am so happy I did that!

Watch out for those antibiotics. A bout of either strep or tonsilitis is what made me get pregnant with my dd. No one warned me that antibiotics diminishes the effectiveness of bc. Well, my mom read me a story about it when I was about 4 months pregnant (too late mom ).

Shannon, they didn't give me antibiotics because they think a virus caused the tonsilitis. I'm just taking Tylenol for the pain. I was however on antibiotics for pneumonia that I just finished taking. I take Depo and I don't think that antibiotics interfere with that.

Ack! You will have atleast a week before you get to feeling better then. If your throat gets to bothering you too much, you might want to try some ice packs. I feel for you. Get well soon.

Shannon, yeah she told me not to expect to feel better for a week (and not to kiss anyone or see my kids because of being contagious :'( )

You might want to buy a new toothbrush too to use when you get better.

I didn't even think of that. They also told me to come back when I'm feeling better and get a flu shot (even though they don't think this is the flu) because it's free.

Don't forget to gargle with warm salt water. The new toothbrush is a great idea too.
