I don't get the Hype about Earl of Sandwich

I don't wait in line to eat and have often eaten at EoS without any line at all. :)

I like their stuff very much (always enough meat for me) and love the atmosphere. Just my kind of thing.

I don't use the dining plan, so don't care if the sandwich doesn't cost enough.

I wouldn't make a special trip to DTD to go there or anything, but I like it. :)

I have to agree EOS never impressed me. Now Goofy's Candy Kitchen on the other hand :cloud9:  :cloud9:

I agree - after we ate there, I thought "what's all the hype about?"

It's just a sandwich. Maybe I am just used to good bread but it didn't seem all that great to me.

I think it's a great, inexpensive alternative for folks who can't afford (or don't want to spend a lot) at other WDW places. The lines are a drag, but they have always moved pretty quickly when we've been there. For those who don't have a car to venture forth into Orlando to check out other restaurants, it's a viable option..

I couldn't agree more with the original poster! How funny, I thought I was the only one who felt this way!! It was for us, by far, the worst dining experience of our trip and we went out of our way to eat there b/c of all the hype I had read about it ahead of time. It's a terrible value if you are on the dining plan and we found the staff to be on the hurried and uncaring side that day. No Disney magic for us there! :)

We went once about a year or so ago, it was ok...just like a Subway. The potato salad was gross.

There are 2 new Earls that just opened up close to my house so I will try it again but not in WDW...I love WPE to much to go to Earls.

We went there twice when we were there in December. DH can't wait to go back next month. I agree. To use is as one of your CS allotments is a waste, but when you are paying out of pocket, it's a good buy!:thumbsup2

they opened one not far from where I was working and stopped in one day and was really disappointed.

I had read all the hype and was really excited to have lunch there.

I should have had lunch at the Kroger store I was at. The roast beef had a huge piece of fat running through it and it was so tough I just finally took it out and just ate the bread.

Maybe the one at DTD is better, but I know the one in Carmel Indiana is bad!

I think the sandwiches are good, but definitely not as great as many make it appear. My wife made me eath there last year, and while I was not upset at the quality, I didnt think it was anything special.

Oh No, I'm dreading my wife finding this thread. I think she loves EOS more than she love me and the dog combined.

Yes, it's a long line, but it goes quickly. Let's be serious, people. We're going to DISNEY WORLD, and we object to lines? The irony is way too much for me to handle.

I found the sandwiches to be very good, and were a godsend on our last trip, when I managed to lose all of the credit cards the day we left and we had almost no money to buy any food. Is it the best CS ever? Maybe not. But it sure as heck beats chicken strips.

Does it even remotely resemble Quizno's or Subway? If it does, find me that fancy quizno's, cause I'm there. I've never been to a Subway where they had brie and ham or turkey with cranberry sauce and wonderful cheddar cheese.

People here on the DIS say its a "Must Do" I don't get it.

Everytime I've ever been near the place, peak, value, or just plain dead season, the line is practically out the door.

The sandwiches ae ok, but not very much meat. And definately not worth the wait. I'd prefer Quiznos any day.

Then there's thefact that on the DDP its a really crummy value for a CS. Its a $5 sandwich. You can walk a few feet to WGP express and have a really nice entree!

Oh well, I guess I'll just make the line shorter for those of you who love it by stepping aside and going elsewhere to eat.

I agree with you 100%. Everytime we go to WDW my mom talks about how badly she wants to go and I always inwardly groan because I know its a waste of time. She has stood in line for 30 minutes there before. And you have to search so hard for a table. Also, on the persoanl side, I HATED their sandwiches. They were icky to me. I prefer Subway or Jason's Deli anyday.

Overrated, I agree. Good sandwiches not great I prefer WPE anyday esp. their spinach and mushroom pizza mmmmmmm!

We tried EOS on our last trip. We stood in line for about 30 minutes (not during peak dining hrs) and the sandwiches at best were okay. We really enjoyed WPE and will be dining there x 2 this trip. EOS is skippable with us and it shall be skipped.
