I agree that CMs wanting to enter rooms upon demand is an inconvenience, but it's my understanding that the reason this policy was put into effect is to prevent another tragedy like what happened in Las Vegas from happening at Disney. What good would it do if a person is planning to do something terrible and the CM agrees to come back later? It's unfortunate that it has to come to making policies like this, but I choose safety over convenience.

If it really lead to safety, I might agree.

When our housekeeper came in for "trash," he never lifted his eyes. He never looked at me or my husband. He simply drug his nasty bag of trash through our room dumping trash and recycling into it, nodding the entire time like a bobble head.

We could have been planning anything. He wouldn't have seen a thing.

I can deal with the inconvenience. But reports of security banging til they get in or barging in when people are half dressed crosses the line. Common sense and decency has been lost.

This isn't for safety and sure as heck isn't convenient for the guests (the ones paying the bills). It is nothing more than a CYA for Disney. Though with the amount of negative press and backlack they're getting, I don't know how well their CYA is going.

We stayed at POP 1/11-1/15 and didn't have any issues. We were in the room Friday and Saturday afternoons for breaks and no one came in at those times. Not sure when they did come, but we never encountered them. We declined housekeeping, as well. I cannot remember the trash situation, either. I don't think it was emptied every day, though.

The daily trash thing is for Dvc stays booked on points where we don’t normally get daily housekeeping. It was announced along with this nonsense as an excuse.

HOW will it prevent anything? The Vegas guy had housekeeping and had multiple encounters with employees. They saw nothing. He set it up in a timeframe where no one noticed despite that. Coming in to empty my trash doesn’t have them searching the room.

It stops nothing. Solves nothing.

And while FL might be different, in some states I’ve lived in, your liability is actually higher if you try to prevent something and it happens anyway (like posting an “attack dog” sign could make it worse for you if it bites, because you KNEW it was a bad dog and still didn’t contain it). So here they are, going in and emptying trash but not opening closets or looking under mattresses...so even from their liability viewpoint it’s not doing anyone any good.

I agree! Apparently their "show" continues to their security measures!
It only stops people from staying in their resorts as this gets out to more and more people. And costs them money when those with negative experiences complain and get comped. I'm guessing that if some bad event happened today, they would still get sued with this lame policy.

Can you imagine them coming in to your room daily demanding to look thru your closet, under mattress, drawers, and suitcases That would be crazy but you’re right, that’s the only thing that would do anything, and if you had a car search that too. Extremely intrusive they’d have a lot of empty rooms. Including mine. What they’re doing now is a big waste of time and is annoying most everyone. I can only hope it stops.

I agree that some of what people have described here is crossing the line. I'm just saying that I understand them wanting to enter a room each day. No, it won't solve all of the problems, but they are trying to do something proactive to keep people safe. Hopefully they will modify the way they are currently carrying it out as they get guest feedback.

I just got done with my first disney trip and we stayed at pop century. We opted out of housekeeping and got a gift card instead. We came back to the room one afternoon and decided to go to the pool. While getting changed there was a knock at the door. They said they need to come in our room every day to check. Totally fine by me, however we are trying to change, please come back in like 20min we will be gone. They told us no they had to come in now! I was in shock that they were not willing to go do a few other rooms and then come back. I spoke with another guest and they said they came back and they wanted to check their room while their son was napping. They told them that they couldn't come in cause they would wake up their son, try again later. It took 20min for them to finally leave, by then their son was starting to wake up from them talking to the cast member. I totally understand the need to view every room, however where is the understanding!!! Has this happened to anyone else?

We all need to take security seriously. I would be fine with Disney putting cameras in the room so that we can be watched 24/7. Better safe than sorry. I wouldn’t want someone going to their car after the room check and getting a bag of guns.

And the real kicker is, it's being done in the name of ''security reasons'' because of one idiot in Las Vegas. News flash- if someone really wanted to do something, their little inspection of the ''trash'' wouldn't prevent a thing, so the whole process and what they're doing is just a complete waste of time and aggravation.

We are tentatively planning a trip near the end of this year to finally see the Christmas decorations, and I really hope the problem is resolved by then!! (If it weren't for the fact that my DS has always wanted to stay at AKL, and we've never sprung for deluxe before, I would absolutely consider other hotels due to this policy - and write to Disney telling them exactly why they lost out on my money.)

Even being able to request morning or afternoon cleaning service would help. "Rope drop/afternoon nap" types could request morning and "sleep in on vacation" types could request afternoon.

What happens if you're in the middle of "couple time"?! I think I would just opt in for mousekeeping and forgo the $10 per day credit. I have to make my bed at home every day, it's worth it for me to pay the resort $10 a day for that and a little privacy.

So you think the Resort Manager at POP is aware of reports such as the one where ther female CM barged in knowing the male Guest was not "decent" and is OK with this behavior?

I didn't see that post, so I can't really say. Did they not have the latch on and the CM just walked in? Did the guest say something like Give me a minute to get decent? Honestly, so many people have posted about how they would answer the door naked that I'm not sure what to think. Maybe the CM thought it was a ploy to get them to skip the room? What exactly is policy if the guest says something like that? Is the CM supposed to give them 5 minutes or come back later?

I am so confused as to what I would do in this situation. If they knocked and asked to come in and I was busy doing something I want to think I would stand my ground and make them wait. It’s not like they won’t ever get into the room. They wait or don’t. The policy says you have to give them access to the room for what ever reason but it doesn’t say in what time frame. Screw you. I will be out of the room for dinner at 4. Come back then.
