This has to be the worst timing ever, lol.

We are looking at doing a week next September in a Deluxe with free dining.

Only problem is, DH won't let us book until we have checked VA flight prices... And the booking window opens one day after the free dining offer expires! :(

Is it likely to be extended? I think he's being daft waiting for flights but he wants to make sure we can afford them!

It is not likely to come back again for 2014 trips, based on previous years' patterns so I'd be wanting to book it.

Since it sounds like you are doing non flight inclusive, would your DH consider booking it deposit only to secure your offer? It will only cost £50 to amend and if you book one night less than you need and add that night later if/when you need to shift dates they waive the charge. I have done that twice in a row now because flights weren't out. I did change dates both times and just added the extra night/s to suit the flight prices on other dates and paid no penalty to do so. It locks in your free dining and other offers attached to the current promotion

If you book the hotel with walt disney travel then you can amend the date free if charge.
We did this for our upcoming trip, we booked the hotel in June 2012 with free dining and $200 for the 17th October but when flights came out with VA, on December 1st the 17th was so over priced. I checked for a few days, and found the 16th was cheaper so before I booked I called walt disney and they amended the date for me, no problem, no charge.
But when I went to go back and book the flights, they had also gone up! So I kept looking and looking and eventually booked the flights around new year time for the 23rd as it was a great price and we even added an extra night. The prices were going up, down,up, it was doing my head in and I thought we would never get a flight.Great? No! The hotel was only showing availability for the 30th onwards but I had from the 16th booked for 2 weeks so I called disney again and she rang through to guest relations and was able to cancel my 16th booking and pick the room up straight away and add my extra night on. Phew!
And every time I amended the date, they always honoured the free dining and $200. She just added it back on.

If it were me, I would book the hotel and hope you will get a flight eventually, be flexible on dates if you can then amend the hotel if need be. If you can't get any flights then you will loose your £50pp deposit, for me I wanted the hotel booked ASAP then worry about the flights!

Good luck.

just to make it right

If you book the hotel with walt disney travel then you can amend the date free if charge.

it's free of charge if the total price of the booking is increased as a result of the amendment.
If the end price is lower, then it's £50 amendment fee per booking
Disney may waive this fee even if the price is the same or lower, but it's not guaranteed. The policy states : £50

but I totally agree, I would book with the offer, even if it means losing £100 if I have to totally cancel.

But don't wait until the very end of the offer.
Some rooms and hotels might no longer be available with the deal. The most popular might already be sold out for that deal (and are available at rack rate or without FD)

I think he's being daft waiting for flights but he wants to make sure we can afford them!

you probably could tell him that, if he waits to see if he can afford the flights, he might no longer be able to afford the deluxe plus the meals.

Argh then I definitely need to book ASAP :)

For a £50 amendment cost we could easily pull that back on cheap flights!

Thanks guys (just hope the rooms aren't sold out as I hadn't even thought of that)!
