I didn't give out candy..I gave out ROCKS!

Oh I see if I have a sense of humor then I will realize it is ok to give rocks out?

I don't think that all the "children" she gave rocks too will have such a sense of humor either.

Ok some think it is ok and she even stated her son would like it. Well all kids are not like her son. I dunno I just don't think it was very nice at all but again as I said It was just how I felt.

that might not be last years christmas candy. Several of the grocery stores in my area have already started putting out some christmas candy!

Thought about that, but unfortunately, it was old. The wrappers were all beat up so I opened one up. The chocolate had started to turn a chalky color. They were Andes mints, and believe me, they were not fresh.

Were they like those "fuzzy" mints your grandma gives you from the bottom of her purse?:rotfl:

Sharing some adult sense of humor. My hubby said if he would have known who gave his kids rocks he would have knocked on their door given them back the rocks and some of the kid's candy and say here is some candy you might need it lol and he said he would have been mifed but not like I am lol

In some neighborhoods you might have gotten the rocks back... though your windows!

Nice twist on the "trick" angel, though :D

Yep, my 3 yr old might be the only kid who would be happy after he left her house! I still would prefer a rock to someone giving my child what was obviously year old (at least) candy.

LOL - I was gonna say the same thing!

I truly hope none of those children tried to BITE
one of your rocks - you do know that you can buy candy
that looks exactly like polished pebbles, don't you??
If not, you do now & I hope next year you're prepared
or you just don't turn your lights on...

Why didn't you just give them a lump of coal and say "Merry Christmas"? :(

I wouldn't be at all surprised if you couldn't be arrested for endangering children. I think it was a very mean thing to do and I hope for your sake that none of the children was injured by attempting to ingest a rock.

wow...talk about inappropriate....

Stop laughing. No...really. I mean it.

Over the last few years, I had gotten into the habit of pre-writing my checks when I went to Target to avoid spending too much. If the amount of the check was less than 20$ more than the total of hte purchase, they gave you cash back. Well..no more. So..I didn't have any candy for the kids. On the way home from work tonight, I stopped by a park and got a good size handful of smallish rocks. Clean ones..no mud or dirt on them.

So that's what I handed out until DH got home with the candy, by which point most of the trick or treaters had already gone by.

Yes..I really did give out rocks.

TOV

I would not be surprised if you got the rocks back from the kids some night.

I would have gone to the police on charges of Child Endangerment and I'd make sure to point out which house my child received the rock from.

Will you find it humorous if your child comes home from Trick or Treating with Rocks? A Razor Blade in an apple? Candy tampered with Angel Dust?

Congratulations. You win the contest for most pathetic Halloween giveaway.

No laughing here.
I think it's a very ODD and mean thing to do to a child.
I doubt any of the kids have your sense of humor.

I'd never do it, but I'd laugh if I found a rock in dd's bag....I watched Charlie Browns Halloween when I was a kid...I get the joke.
I doubt a child is going to be scarred for life from this. If they are a small child the parents go through their candy before they eat it anyway.
If they are a big kid they'll just toss the rock to the side or throw it out. What's the big deal here? I highly doubt there will be too many people as quirky as TOV to do such a thing.

Like some others have said, I would be afriad I would see those rocks come back at me through the window.

Just turn off the porch light.

While I don't feel you endangered anyone I do hope, as others stated, you don't find them back through your window. My BIL and SIL had a note on their door a few years ago from kids who thought what they gave out was not 'right' in their eyes...and they gave out candy. I would hate to see what would have happened had BIL and SIL given out rocks.

One of my girls, at least, would have loved it. She actually collects rocks.

I don't think it's child endangerment. By the same thinking - some people give popcorn balls to kids 3 and under, and that's a choking hazard too.

I probably would've rolled my eyes, but not been ready to call the cops!
