Wasn't there also some poster who asked kids how their parents had voted and then only gave candy to those whose parents had voted the "right" way (I don't remember which way was the "right" way - or even if the poster told us the "right" way).
Oh for goodness sakes! It was a funny thread from waaaaay back when that many people still talk about. I just thought I would bump it for people who haven't seen it before.![]()

Thanks for bumping. I had never seen this one before. Funny, yet sad at the same time.
Remember the one from a couple of years ago were the poster was actually asking the parents who they were voting for and if they weren't voting for her candidate then she wouldn't give heir child any candy? Talk about sick.![]()

Looks like we had the same memory at the same time![]()
Wonder if that poster is still around?Oh for goodness sakes! It was a funny thread from waaaaay back when that many people still talk about. I just thought I would bump it for people who haven't seen it before.![]()
Or maybe I'm just easily entertained.

As you can see, there are a lot who appreciated the blast from the past. I'm not sure Carly was here then, but this thread really was THE THREAD for the longest time. You know, one of those threads where you keep refreshing because people are posting so quickly and you want to see the responses?Or maybe I'm just easily entertained.

Some threads are just classics, like this one, the canned corn, the MIL gift threads. It's all in fun....
I was literally crying while reading their posts.
I remember its original posting - how time flies! Stop laughing. No...really. I mean it.
Over the last few years, I had gotten into the habit of pre-writing my checks when I went to Target to avoid spending too much. If the amount of the check was less than 20$ more than the total of hte purchase, they gave you cash back. Well..no more. So..I didn't have any candy for the kids. On the way home from work tonight, I stopped by a park and got a good size handful of smallish rocks. Clean ones..no mud or dirt on them.
So that's what I handed out until DH got home with the candy, by which point most of the trick or treaters had already gone by.
Yes..I really did give out rocks.![]()
TOV
I think it's funny! It's like Charlie Brown right? All the kids got candy, but he kept getting a rock?
Now if that had been the son that goes TOTing now, he would have wiped it on the guys shirt, lol!
One year he got an apple and when he was still within earshot of the giver, he says "an apple?" and threw it on her lawn as we left. He was 3. He's a handful.
I agree. I think one really needed to be here back then and earlier, Bridget, to really know and appreciate what it was like then. It has changed immensely. The response from someone that wasn't around back then is such a sign of how the board has changed.
