Here are Bobbi & Michael on our last trip:
This is a story about our Christmas vacation. It occured from December 21-December 26, 2008.
Heres a little story of how we got here.
The last time we were at Disney was in August of 2006. While we were there, it was sooo hot
and we thought how nice it would be to spend Christmas with the mouse, during a cooler time of year. We planned on doing it in two years and boy did those years just fly!! Before we knew it, January 2008 came along and I started asking DH if we were still going to Disney for Christmas. He asked me to price out all three levels of hotels and we finally decided on Disneys Caribbean Beach Resort for our stay. For all four of us to stay 12/22-12/26, with 5-day park hoppers and the Disney Dining plan, it was going to cost $2,333.34. Well, after a few months, DH decided it would be nice to add another day, so the price jumped to around $2,668.42
. We decided to keep the park passes at 5 days so wed have one day to do DTD. Good for us that I pay attention to the Disboards, because in September, I found the 30% off code and brought our price down to $2,310.70!!
That price was cheaper than our original 4 night stay! When our tax rebate came, we put that money towards our trip along with some of our income tax refund and a little here and there from each paycheck. Finally in October, we were done paying for the trip and we had a little extra for spending in the parks!!
Our trip down
Since we were driving, we were a little nervous because on the day we were leaving (12/19), it had been snowing all day
. We originally planned to be on the road by 8 PM, but didnt leave until 11. The snow was bad but we slowly got through Long Island. We were taking the Staten Island route to Jersey and thankfully, the traffic wasnt that bad. Once we reached mid-Jersey, the snow went away and the roads opened so we were good. Miguel drove most of the way (he never lets me drive
) and with potty breaks, eating and gas stops, we arrived on I-Drive around 9 PM on the 20th
. Since we werent checking in until the next morning, we pulled into a Howard Johnson (next to the Steakey Shake
, as said to me by the operator). I found a great rate in one of those motel guides so with tax, the room cost $45.00 for the night. It was good to just get a good nights sleep and a bath since I knew we needed to get up early and we were going to be doing lots of stuff the next day.
