I didn't forget about you!! - Day IV - Candlelight Processional

Ugh, I remember when I was at 11 months until Christmas at Disney and it passed soooo slowly.

Uggggg! Tell me about it - it doesn't feel like December is EVER going to get here! I'm so excited to be going, and I want to plan, but it's just such a long way off that I feel foolish planning for it already :lmao:

On this day, we were headed to Grand Floridian for breakfast with Alice, The Mad Hatter & Mary Poppins. Since we had an 8:00 AM ADR, we had to boogie. DH & I were up around 5:00 and we woke the kids for their baths around 6. We were at the bus stop headed to MK by 7:00 AM.

Here's me and my little man on the bus. He loved building those Mini Men
Disney2008202.jpg

The one thing I have to say about the CBR buses, everytime you enter a park, they start playing music that's themed towards that park. Since we hopped parks so many times, by the end of the trip, we were talking along with the recordings on the bus!!

Our first view of the MK sign by daylight
Disney2008204.jpg

Once we got to MK, we headed straight to the monorail. I wanted to take a boat to the GF, but I didn't see any running. Since it was early, we got a whole car to ourselves.
Disney2008206.jpg

I was a little concerned because I thought the monorail would stop at the GF first, but it circled around the other way!

First stop, the Comtemporary Hotel
Disney2008207.jpg

I loved their tree. Very artsy.
Disney2008208.jpg

Next up was the TTC and unfortunately, I was unable to get a good picture of the next hotel, the Poly.

Finally, 10 minutes before our ADR, we arrived at the Grand Floridian. And Grand it was!! OMG, this place is so beautiful!!

Their tree was gorgeous!
Disney2008213.jpg

After being awed by our surroundings, we checked into 1900 Park Fare for breakfast.
Disney2008218.jpg

Since they weren't ready yet (it was past 8 by this point), we walked around a bit more...

I really loved this birdcage
Disney2008219.jpg

I'm upset we weren't here when the house was open, nonetheless, the smell was awesome!

Disney2008221.jpg

Finally we were seated and we got the kids food from the buffet.

Disney2008222.jpg

Buffets are such a waste for my son. The kid eats like a bird. I try to fill up his plate more, but he just doesn't eat much!! I assume I'll yearn for these days when he becomes a teenager and starts emptying my fridge on a daily basis.
Disney2008223.jpg

Here was my plate, the pink stuff is the famous strawberry soup. Try it if you're there! It is seriously delicious!!!! The rest was regular breakfast fare, but good nonetheless.
Disney2008224.jpg

Michael wanted to show me how much he loves fresh squeezed OJ.
Disney2008225.jpg

Pooh came around first....
Disney2008227.jpg

then Tigger
Disney2008228.jpg

Tigger is DH's FAVORITE character. PERIOD.
and no, DH's head is not this small.
Disney2008229-1.jpg

Finally a face character, Alice. I love Alice, her song "In a World of My Own", it's my favorite Disney song and you'll catch me singing it alot.

Disney2008230.jpg

Disney2008231.jpg

Mary was very charming as I assumed she would be. Her costume is sooo pretty.
Disney2008232.jpg

Our last character was the Mad Hatter. He was very funny and if anyone are wondering what the 10/6 on his hat is, it's just how much he paid. Ten shillings and six pence.

Disney2008237.jpg

I love the face he made in this picture...
Disney2008238.jpg

Afterwards, we finished up breakfast and headed back into the lobby of the hotel to take some more pictures of the gingerbread house. We also knew the weather was getting warmer and we wanted to see if we could find a bathing suit for our DD.

Disney2008239.jpg

Disney2008240.jpg

Lastly, we rode the glass elevator up the the second floor to catch the monorail to the park.

Disney2008241.jpg

All in all, the GF was a great experience and it was such a beautiful hotel. I can see why people go crazy trying to stay there. Would I spend all my money for a room, probably not, but who knows? The place IS undeniably gorgeous.

Up next - Friendly Santa look alikes in the park....

Great report so far ...

... guess I'll have to take the family to WL for dinner and have the DW ask for ketchup!!

On a totally different note: how much snow did you get last night??:cheer2:

We got about 2-3 inches of snow!! It was soooo pretty when I stepped out to walk the dogs this morning! I was tryng to take pictures of the trees with my camera phone while they were pulling me!! I soooo did not want to come to work this morning. I just wanted to stay home with the kids and play in the snow.:hyper:

I am thrilled to be reading your TR. :thumbsup2

We are planning a trip for Dec 19-26 (exactly 11 months :hyper:) so it is nice to hear how it is that time of year. We have been in the months of June and Sept., so I have no idea what December is like.

I'm looking forward to reading more.

I'll say this about leaving the day after Christmas, IT SUCKED! I wish I would've put an extra day at the end and left on the 27th.

Really? We left on the 26th and we were more than ready to leave. Mostly due to the crowds though...otherwise, additional days at Disney are always welcomed.

I'm trying to talk DH into an extra day or two, but he is insisting that he will need to get back to work

Was leaving that day so bad because of the large number of people traveling the day after Christmas, or were you just sad to leave?

Just sad to leave. I think an extra day would've helped. It was just such a high to be there on Christmas Day and then get back at night to pack because we were checking out the next day. It made leaving Disney all the more depressing. A buffer day is good...:lmao:

OK - I'm convinced! Now I just need to work on the Disney Grump (aka DH) :lmao:

After eating to our hearts content, we headed back to the monorail platform and took the monorail back to the Magic Kingdom. The first thing we saw was a line forming for Pinocchio & Jiminy Cricket. We got on line to meet the characters and I noticed a VERY jolly looking man walking into the park with candy canes in his pocket. I whispered to DH that he looked alot like Santa Claus so he took the kids over to meet him while I stood on line.

Disney2008242.jpg

Disney2008243.jpg

The man said he was visiting a sick relative in FL, but since he and his wife came into the parks every year, they decided to take some time and keep their tradition. He asked the kids what they wanted for Christmas and handed them each a candy cane from his shirt pocket. The kids were so excited when they got back to me!

I then noticed that Mary Poppins was standing in line next to the Photo Emporium (I think that's the name of the shop). While we had already gotten her photo and autograph at breakfast, she was standing with one of the penguins from the movie. This time, it was my turn to get off the line, but only to go wait on another. There was a bit of confusion and I missed 3 of DH's calls (it was loud in the park) and I saw him calling for me out of the corner of my eye. I thought he wanted me to get off the Mary & Penguin line so I ran over to him and he says "What'd you come back for? I was just calling to ask you a question".:headache: Since I was already off the line, I wasn't going back, but we only had 2 kids ahead of us so we didn't have long to wait to meet Pinocchio. He like DD's hat and tried to put it on his head until the handler told him it had a bow on it!! Then he just stuck it back on Bobbi's head.

Disney2008246.jpg

We started to walk towards the castle and saw the Mayor...
Disney2008247.jpg

Our first stop was Tomorrowland where we grabbed FP's for Buzz and since there wasn't a wait for Monsters Inc. LF, we ran inside. This ride is soo cute and I'm sorry I almost forgot about this one!!

You go inside into a waiting area, kind of like the waiting area for Stitch where they update you and tell you what's going on. At that time, they tell you to text any jokes you may have to a certain number and they might be used in the show. I sent my sons fave; "Why did the banana go to the doctor?" "He wasn't peeling well". Haha, I love that!!

Anyway, you get in to a theater that's separated into two columns with one middle aisle and they start the show. You get the interaction between Mike and Roz and then they start finding people in the audience and put their pictures up on the screen! They had this one older Hispanic woman who was a great sport. Every time her picture came up on the screen, they put this disco music on and she got up and danced. It was hysterical!! The kids really loved it and so did DH & I. I was disappointed that DS's joke wasn't used, but they show was great anyway!

Disney2008249.jpg

Since we had a while to wait, we decided to take a ride on the TTA. DD seemed excited to ride the blue line...
Disney2008250.jpg

We got to see the castle from up high...
Disney2008258.jpg

When we got off, we saw MY favorite character, STITCH!!!
Disney2008261.jpg

Disney2008262.jpg

Stitch seemed to like DS's Lego Mini Men and tried to take away his necklace that held them. He then tried to floss his fangs with the strings of the necklace.

After saying hi to Stitch, we grabbed some snacks, headed for a potty break and joined the line for the Speedway. DD rode with me and was upset because I really didn't give her a change to steer. I kept my foot on the gas, but she was all over the place:faint: !! Thank goodness for those bars that keep the car in its own lane!!

Now it was time for Buzz!!
Disney2008263.jpg

Since I rode with DD on Sunday night, I grabbed DS and played with him this time. The picture came out a little blurry.
Disney2008265.jpg

After defending the galaxy, we headed over to see Stitch. Since there wasn't too much of a line, we decided to wait.
Disney2008266.jpg

Disney2008267.jpg

I forgot how much Stitch's burp stinks but since I love Stitch so much, we deal with it. Or should I say, I just make them deal with it:thumbsup2 .

Since I knew that Pixie Hollow had just recently opened, I really wanted to head into Toontown to go see the fairies. It was really crowded in Toontown!
Before we could see the fairies, a 30 second ride for a 30 minute wait was necessary on the Barnstormer.

We skipped Minnie & Mickey's house. It's cute, but WE WANTED FAIRIES!

I stopped off for some cotton candy and FINALLY we got into the Judge's tent. The line for Pixie Hollow said 45 minutes (:rolleyes2 ) and the Princesses was 20. DH suggested we just go visit the Princesses and I told him he was crazy!! I said, we'll see the Princesses at breakfast on Christmas Day and this is the only place we can see the fairies!!! Fine, after a lecture reminding me that this trip was for the kids (isnt Christmas for me too?:p ) we remained on the Pixie Hollow line.

According to the timestamp on this picture... (DS Michael took this one)
Disney2008270.jpg

...we didn't get into the forest that just LEADS you into the character room for almost another hour..
Disney2008274.jpg

Overall, Pixie Hollow is really cute. There are sounds of birds chirping and pixie dust being spread over the walls. There are lady bugs crawling on the wall (fake ones of course).
Disney2008273.jpg

At long last, we were being called in to meet the fairies!!! I was sooooooo excited:upsidedow . Of course DD & DS were too!!

We walked in and......

Up next....We shrink to the size of a fairy and get to meet Tink!!:cheer2:

Uggggg! Tell me about it - it doesn't feel like December is EVER going to get here! I'm so excited to be going, and I want to plan, but it's just such a long way off that I feel foolish planning for it already :lmao:

Don't feel foolish. It's never to soon to start planning a Disney Trip! :hyper:

Those are the exact dates we are planning as well!
:wave2: What resort are you staying at? We will be staying at POR.

OK - I'm convinced! Now I just need to work on the Disney Grump (aka DH) :lmao:

We will be in Orlando until the 26th but will be staying off property our last 2 nights. But I shouldn't complain since we will still be in the area. It was actually my husband that suggested it. :faint: He doesn't want to travel the day before Christmas.
Maybe you could use that on your husband..... That it may be crazy travelling then. :scratchin

The crowds were crazy, but I was soo sad to go!:sad2:

How were the crowds during the week leading up to Christmas? Were the lines for the rides really long?

Your daughter looks like she is really having a good time. She looks like she is a lot of fun.

How were the crowds during the week leading up to Christmas? Were the lines for the rides really long?

Before we went, DH mentioned that he doesn't want to plan everything out and run from one side of the parks to the other grabbing FP's and I just  and said yeah yeah, but I'm glad he said that. If you go during a really busy week like that and think to yourself that you just may not get on everything, you won't stress out. We walked around alot, took in the sights, saw the parades and had a great time. We tried to do as much as we could, but didn't stress out if we didn't get to anything.
