I went to the MK without a bag! We just returned from a 6 day stay at BLT. We are a rope drop family and always like to get to the parks early. It was the best feeling to be able to walk around without a heavy backpack or bag hanging from me. It was also nice to walk right in without having to stand in line to get a bag checked. The only thing in our pockets were the park tickets and a small poncho in case of rain. It is not something I would do all the time. In fact, it was a little weird to not have my camera with me. However, that morning felt the most relaxed of any. It is definitely something I will try again!

It's amazing! I don't know if I could do that. I possibly could if I was solo, but then I can't imagine not having my camera with me. Well done!

We never carry a bag. It is just DH and myself.

We just carry id, kttw card and the camera in pockets. It is very easy going in the gates and on the rides. No muss no fuss.

Good for you; we've scaled back from a backpack to me carrying a camera and DW & DD with fanny packs and even just lightening the load it's so much better!

While in theory I applaud you.. I get a little anxious even thinking about it:rotfl:
I'm such a nerd.

We never carry a bag. We never even did when the kids where small. I hate hauling stuff all over the parks.

Have any of you ever wondered how men go through life with just what can be carried in their pockets? It's easy really. With the advent of "lap top computers" that has changed a little but it is still basically true. What we can't get in our wallets or clipped to our belts is totally unnecessary.

I have NEVER gone without some kind of bag. But we did go from a backpack down to a "small" bag with a few snacks, camera, ponchos and little wallet with KTTW card. With better planning, I bet we could get down to no bag. I have a new Mickey camera case that can be worn around my neck, so I BET I could get away without a bag. I might have to get brave and try it!!! :scared1:

ETA: Also have the cell phone now. Never did that before this past May, but DS is 14 now and often went to several rides by himself so we used cell phone to meet back up. That takes up a little more room too. Still think I could try it but still a little scared!!

I can't imagine having to lug a bag around all day. Heck, I hate buying items when I'm there as I hate having to carry anything.

Me too -- but I always have everything sent to my room. Or I buy stuff on the way out. It's Disney -- whatever it is, I know I'll see it again in another 1,000 places now that they've done away with unique and interesting merchandise.

Every year I carry less and less into the parks. It's so freeing! The only items my family carried this year were two Bobble water bottles and a mister fan. I kept my camera in my pocket.

We did this when we went in May and it was awsome!! We brought a tote bag but never actually used it, I took my purse the first night because the empty tote was in the suitcase and that hadn't arrived yet and it was a PITA to carry around. I had my room key, gift card and License in one pocket and the cell phone in the other, usually had the camera in my hand or on my wrist. DH had things in the wallet or pockets.

We usually sent things to the room or at least to the front gate. We did buy something at EPCOT that I wanted sent up but it turned out you couldn't with the thing we bought because it was a plant item (from the Land) and we had to carry it all day, it was a small little thing but it was annoying to carry it all day long, we got it late morning.

I'm jealous. I'm the pack mule who carries the back pack which contains my camera, ponchos, at least 2 water bottles, spray misting bottle, tylenol, hand sanitizer, gum...

In July, my shirt between my back and the back pack became sodden after about 1.5 minutes outside. As the day progresses, my pack does get lighter...water is drunk, misting fan is used, camera is in hand.

Kids and I decided to duck into MK one evening just to buy some fudge and ride Pirates. I left the pack in the hotel, and had such a pleasant time. You're right...it is so freeing! But, I felt like something was missing or like I lost something!

I will continue to strive toward having NO backpack!

Oh how I envy you, OP! I've tried to cut down but I'm one of those 'nervous nellies' that says, "what if xyz happens and we need abc?" And so I carry things we might need but probably don't. I do manage to fit it all into a fanny pack though.

Someday I will be free of a bag though...'til then, you are my hero!:worship:

The best thing I found was a happy medium. No backpack, but a fanny pack instead. I got a black one that just has Mickey's ears and says "Walt Disney World" on it. Perfect for change, wallet, cell phone, keys, camera, tickets, etc. And you just keep it around your waist as you ride. And no worries about losing anything.:thumbsup2

I wear glasses. I need both my regular glasses & my prescription sunglasses.
So I carry a small cross body purse during the day. If we leave the room later in the afternoon I'll leave the sunglasses in the room, so I don't carry the purse. DH will put my ticket, room key & credit cards in his wallet. It's great not to have to go thru security. :)

So jealous!! I can't wait for the day we get to go without a diaper bag!

Congrats!! We have been bagless since our 21 yo got out of diapers! We opt for cargo pants, and it is SOOO nice!

The one that amuses me is the carrying of water. I know that water is expensive but I gladly pay it before I will cart water like a pack mule. It just isn't worth it. I budget for the excess cost which isn't that much because you had to buy your own water at some point anyway.

I do understand when you have small children you need to carry more stuff which is precisely the reason that I didn't go there until my kids were 6 years old and didn't require all that stuff. It makes the parks so much more fun and way less hassle.
