The number of pills I take just to keep on ticking over is maddedning.
It's the side effects.
I take prescription pills a night, ten of which are the strongest in their field.
One of them can cause merry hell with your blood, so that's a blood test every month. One causes me to sleep 16 hours a day. One makes me allergic to adrenaline (a combination of which causes heart attacks) and most food, drink, OTC meds and other prescription meds (a combination of which causes a hypertensive crisis - a polite way of saying blood pools and bursts on the brain. Yummy).
And woe betide me if I miss a dose or run out!
And I'm not even the most ill person in the world. I have to keep pinching myself and reminding myself, I'm not the most off person out there. Stroke victims. Heart attack veterans. Cancer subjects.
When you get right down to it, we're a pretty fragile race!
