We have reservations to stay at SoG from Fri, 19 Mar to Sat, 27 Mar. I received a letter yesterday giving us four options: Leave the reservations as is; Cancel the reservation; Reschedule to a later date and they will provide a free stay of an equal length sometime later in 2004; or they will make other reservations for us at another hotel.
I called SoG this morning and the other hotel would be All Star for a rate of $82 (includes tax). There are no rooms at a moderate resort and the only hotel downtown was the Holiday Inn for $129 (without tax). I figured we could stay at the All Star with reservations made through WDW for the same price and go back to SoG for free during Thanksgiving. We have annual passes good until 27 Dec 04. Find out Thanksgiving is booked at SoG. They are not offering Christmas or New Years time frame either. Then I thought maybe we could go back in May after school is let out for the free stay. It was driving me crazy so I came home and wrote out the pros and cons of each situation it went like this:
1. Stay next week at All Star with a free trip at SoG in May: Pro: All Star is only $82 per night, Get to stay free at SoG in May. Con: All Star rooms are small and it will be crowded, May will be hot, My daughter may be working during May so she wont be able to come with me and It will be so soon to visit again.
2. Stay next week at SoG with no free trip: Pro: I am anxious to stay there in the renovated rooms, Its only $84 per night if we get 10% off due to construction, Can get a cheap breakfast buffet there, Since the new addition may not be open there wont be as many guests, The pools are more quiet than other Disney resorts and We can walk to the Polynesian and hang out there. Con: SoG is not fully finished.
I am so glad that decision is made and am very excited about staying at SoG. We have stayed there years ago and loved the fact that the rooms were nice and big. Plus since I plan on letting my daughter sleep in and visiting the parks without her in the mornings, there is less of a chance that I will wake her as I get ready since the bathroom sink area at SoG has a door, unlike the moderate resorts at WDW.
