I.D. Requirements to fly from buffalo?

I just booked Southwest flight out of Buffalo. Was going to drive when I was told $480 out of Toronto, but got a N/S to Orlando for $125US Taxes & Fees. To drive over border we have only been asked for birth certificate and picture ID. For the kids we only show their birth certificate. Does anyone know what the border/airport security requires, especially for kids? I don't want to have to purchase passports for kids if I don't have to, but can't think of a photo ID to use for my kids since they don,t have a DL. Has anyone flown out of Buffalo lately with kids? What did they ask for?

When we flew out of Buffalo a year and a half ago(mind you prior to 9/11), all we had to show was nothing at the border, and photo I.D. for us and birth certificates for the kids at the airport. We flew out of Toronto last year and never again. Buffalo for us from now on.

I haven't flown with kids by Dh and I flew from Buffalo on our honeymoon with just our Birth certificates and drivers licecnses with no problem. We went from Buffalo to LA to Maui back to LA and back to Buffalo with no problems with only that for ID.

Have 2 pieces of ID(Birth Certificate and photo drivers Lic.) for adults and birth certificate for kids and you are fine. We finally did our passports for this trip but was told by the passport office that the previos mentioned ID's are fine(just in case we didn't get ours in time.
