I couldn't be more impressed with Apple

Took my laptop in to the Genius Bar with a broken keyboard and torpedoed Operating System... Keyboard? Fixed. Free. System? Fixed. Free. All in 40 minutes as I waited. And on the way out the guy I was dealing with noticed I had a chipped iPhone screen. So he replaced it. For free. In 3 minutes.

Can't get better than that really.

I am glad they were able to revive your laptop and fix the other issues. I like Apple products, although I know not everyone shares my opinion. I have always been happy with their service as well.

You could tell they took pride in the place they worked. Every item was displayed just-so, everything out on display for demonstration, plenty of support staff eager to help.

Where exactly is this magical iphone place with unicorn horn dust falling from the ceiling. They don't do any of that at any of them around here.
A lot of times it depends on the rep and how you are with them. Kind of like Disney and Pixie Dust. If you get a good rep in a good mood and don’t act entitled sometimes they’ll hook you up. The key is not to expect it. I’ve had them replace my husband and my oldest daughter’s out of warranty phones and last time I was there they didn’t charge me for replacing my son’s battery even though technically they weren’t supposed to. The same week my DH cracked his screen and with Apple Care it was supposed to be $99. They waved it.

edited because I can’t seem to construct readable sentences today

You do realize that all of that 'free' support is part of the cost built into their products?

One summer a few years back DD took her 3 yr old MacBook Air to the Apple Store for repair. They couldn’t complete the repair there, and had to send it out, but promised that it would be back in time for her to start her senior year of college a few weeks later. Well, somehow it got lost in shipping and no one could find it. So they gave her a brand new one at no cost. And when they found her old one, they repaired it and sent it back to her, telling her to keep both.

Good analogy to Disney, @wenrob. If you go in expecting or demanding things, they may not happen. But if you catch it just right, they might.

Very happy to hear this but not surprised. The customer service at Apple is usually pretty awesome, but I will concede that I have had better service at the European Apple Stores that I've visited. Glad it all worked out @Neapolitan Ice Cream
