I could really use some prayers and pd this week.

Half of the therapy involves recognizing it and "talking" about it, which is what you've done right here!

The first thing I was taught in grief counseling is to let go of dates. I remember them telling me no matter what we do, a date WILL return. If we can conquer that, we're home free!

Hold onto your faith, which I know you have plenty of, and have God work through what you cannot handle. He will do it for you. Just let Him know what you need....

Robin, the most difficult part of this is the date. If I could just let go of that, it would be easier I'm sure. I just don't know how. I am praying that someday soon, Halloween will be just another day, but I haven't got there yet. Thanks for the prayers.

Pamper yourself this week and don't try to deny your feelings. Since you don't have any young children at home, why not take Thursday off and relax in the comfort and safety of your own home. Pick up a good book, take a long bubble bath and just pamper yourself.

That sound like a really frightening and overwhelming thing to deal with, tc. I'm so sorry you are going through this. I will keep you in my prayers that Thursday passes without event, and you get the help you need in dealing with this.

Take care Tc. I liked the suggestion to take the day off and pamper yourself. Include with that suggestion work on your PS's for your upcoming Disney trip in Jan. Take each day and do a minute by minute trip plan even if you won't use it. List all the things you want to do all the resturants you want to do. Then try to work out timing conflicts then re do the whole thing by changing days for each activity. Prayers are with you, Linda
 
I'll keep you in my prayers Keli. I too suffered from PTSD after a life altering event. Ironically, mine occured the day after Halloween. This time of year used to be torture for me. The images, the smells, etc all seemed to be geared towards making me aware of the past horrific events. I have no idea how or when I was able to let go, but I know it was years and years later. Now -- I just hate the Fall LOL!! ;), but I don't suffer the panic attacks that this time of year used to bring. If you're not in counseling, maybe you should try again. I wish you all the best in the world. I also wish somehow I could change things for you. I will keep you in my prayers.
 
I have actually called my counselor (he's now a community college psych professor, and no longer seeing patients). He agreed to sit down and talk with me in his office at the college. I just think I need to talk it out again with him. Kind of readjust my thought process, so to speak. I don't want to start with a whole new counselor and go through stuff he already knows.

I am overwhelmed with the response to this thread. Thank you, everyone, for the support and prayers you have sent.
