I could really use some help deciding what size room to rent?

Thanks everyone! I think we are probably not going to have the money to book a 2 bedroom...and it sounds like the sleeper sofa's are not comfortable at all. I will look into two studios or we will just do a value resort. Thanks!

Given the information you provided, I'd say a 1 bedroom at AKV-Kidani would be a good fit for you. That way you could have a master with a king bed, Jacuzzi, in room laundry, full kitchen AND a sleep chair and pull out queen sized sofa in the living room. The good thing about Kidani is that there will be an extra bathroom for those staying in the living room.

The pull out queen sofas at Kidani are not the typical pull out with the metal bar running through the middle. They form into a single sturdy, flat surface with a comfortable matress on top. They are actually quite comfy.

Because you are footing the bill and have indicated that our parents would be fine on the sleeper sofa, a one bedroom would work fine. Keep your child with you and out of their "bedroom" during sleeping hours and have a great trip.

I am another though that hates a sleeper sofa.

Oh, no, they are not that comfortable. The foam pad that they call a mattress is really rather thin. But the sleeper chair is more comfortable. The sleeper sofas that they have at BCV and BWV (and maybe other locations) flip forward from the back and the cushions stay attached and support the foot of the bed. Much more comfortable.

OK. . . I would personally volunteer to sleep on a pull-out couch in a 1 BR villa before staying in a value resort with my DW and DS5 again. We have done it, and it is confining.

But, if your parents are comfortable with modest accommodations, then the sofabed may not be a big problem for them. I agree with Diane, a 1BR at Kidani (or BLT) would work well, since there is the sleeper chair and TWO bathrooms. You could try to get a standard view at AKV (which would save $$). Plus, the full kitchen and laundry are nice options with a child on a 5-7 day trip.

No matter what you decide, time spent at Disney is awesome, no matter what the sleeping situation. Have fun learning about resales! There is a steep learning curve, but at the present time, it is a good way to go if you plan to use the points only at Disney.

I would go with the one bedroom. I love to have the washer and dryer available to me. I do laundry everyday which I don't even do at home.
If you are footing the bill for your parents vacation, then I think that they would be fine sleeping on the sofa bed. My parents would have never taken the bedroom if I were the one paying the bill. They would have been happy just to be there with their grandchildren.
DMIL went with us last year. She was going to sleep on the sleeper sofa since we were using our points for the room and she didn't have to pay for it. We ended up getting a 2 bedroom because we had pts we didn't want to expire, but she was more than happy to be there with her grandkids and it didn't matter where she slept.
