I convinced my DH to go to DL again

I am super excited, we're going to book for January 18 - 24 (any comments on the dates?) this is the time we usually went as kids and it was nice to get away from the cold Alberta winter.

I've also convinced him to stay at either the Paradise Pier or Disneyland Hotel (last time we stayed at Hotel Menage, NEVER again). Now I stayed at the PP about... 14 years ago with my family so it's been a while but I've never stay at the DLH. So now I just have to decide which and I don't know... can anyone offer any advice, pros/cons of each? I checked out lots of sites about each etc, but I'm indecisive.

Is there more than one pool at DLH or just Neverland? I know that there is only one at PP.

I'm thinking this is going to be an "early" 1st anniversary present since we were married March 6 this year (so it will just be the two of us)

Any tips and advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!!!!!

(I am so excited:banana: )

Woo Hoo! :woohoo: Good for you guys! That will be a fun early anniversary celebration!

If cost isn't an issue, stay at DLH!

If you need or want to save money, stay offsite at HoJo. It's just as close as DLH (it was actually designed by the same architect!), it's quite nice with a lovely pool area, and the Entertainment book rate is available all but the first night of your stay. It'll cost you $59 for a standard room, $74 for a deluxe. I'm guessing DLH would be double or even triple that. PP would be at least double.

Just a suggestion! Have fun planning! :goodvibes

For once and probably the only time cost isn't an issue (I can't believe I just wrote that) it will probably be the only time we stay onsite because once we've got kids... it won't be an option.

If you have a membership to Costco, you can book a trip thru them. In addition to the stuff you get from booking with Costco, when you stay 4 nights or more at a DLR hotel, you get a $150.00 Disney gift card.
Have you checked getawaytoday.com and other places?
Good luck with your planning!
Linda:)

Right now, at the Disney site, with no codes, discounts etc, for your dates at PP is $1800.12. DLH is $2112.12.
This is for regular rooms with 7 day hopper passes that are the price of the kids.
I hope you can find a great deal or two out there to get the prices down.
:cheer2:

Thanks for the tip, I did see that you get a gift card when I was looking on the DLR website if you book at any of the resort hotels.

January 19 is Martin Luther King holiday here in the US. It's a Federal and State holiday and the kids will be out of school. This will make the weekend at DLR much more crowded than any other weekend in January (with the exception of NYE).

If you could push the trip to either the weekend prior or the weekend after, the parks would be much less crowded, and you undoubtedly would find a better rate at the resort hotels.

did you check if they were even available?

Yes... and they both are :)

We are going to move the date back to the 25th though, our "dogsitter" my MIL is in Cuba for 2 weeks one of which is when we are planning to go and since I won't kennel my boys we are going to have to wait.

Either week both hotels are available though, for the prices a PP listed. I'm going to go and book DLH tonight.

Question for anyone whose stayed at the DLH which tower is the "quietest"?

Thanks!!

-J-
