for your future date....we went in January once--there were lots of Brazilian tour groups to maneuver around in the parks. if you can avoid those, it's pretty nice to go then. also, they do a lot of the runDisney marathons and runs then. that can make things a little more crowded

we used to go in November a lot, usually the week before thanksgiving. we loved it. great weather, low crowds, Christmas decorations up

really though, any time at Disney is a good time, right?

I see your name on tons of other TRs/PTRs that I read so I'm very happy to see you've made it over to mine!

Thanks for the advice! I think I'm really leaning towards November for exactly the reasons you mentioned!

But yes, you make a very important point: ANY time at Disney is a good time!

YOu could always bounce both ideas off of your dad and see what he thinks. Also seeing what of those dates work best for him might help you narrow down as well.

Anti-motion sickness & Jimmy Buffett
(unrelated topics yet equally exciting!)

Hi everyone!

A few exciting things happened today:
1) At 5:15am I received an email from Disney:
"Great news, Tracy! You're now one step closer to experiencing the Walt Disney World vacation of your dreams.
Your MagicBand package has been shipped!"
WOOHOO!!!
2) I ordered a couple necessary items for my trip:
Bonine and an anti-nausea wristband
*a special thank you to everyone for their suggestions!*
I am bound and determined that I will ride ToT this trip (for the first time in years!) and not end up like this:

3) I got another exciting email this morning:
"Jimmy Buffett live from Tampa at 8pm tonight! WATCH!"
I am a HUGE Jimmy Buffett fan. Growing up, it was a darn requirement in my family. My mom even has a "Jimmy Buffett bar". Being anything other than a Parrothead in my family is just unacceptable. His concerts are incredible and people go completely crazy dressing up and setting up hours before the concert starts.

And, because I hate to have a non-pictured post... here are some pictures from the last Buffett concert I went to. My sisters and I bought our mom tickets and a hotel room for Mother's Day two years ago. We went to Jones Beach and met up with a very good family friend (my youngest sister's best friend, pictured with me).











So... right now I'm doing Disney stuff, anti-motion sickness meds have been purchased, my trip is FOUR WEEKS from tomorrow, and I'm listening/watching a live Jimmy Buffett concert!

It sounds like hokum, but I've heard too many people swear by them.

YAY!!! Happy to have a fellow Buffett fan! The concert tonight has been amazing - so great to be able to watch for free online! Key West is amazing, isn't it?! I haven't been in years but it used to be my family's go-to vacation spot when I was growing up.

I will absolutely try ToT with my hands UP! That's a promise!!! Thanks, Mary Ellen. It's such a bummer. My last few trips I didn't even attempt ToT. But I am just determined to get back on it so I need to be armed with as much anti-motion-sickness stuff as possible!

Absolutely! What are friends for, right?! I'll be giving a thorough review of them in my upcoming TR but in the meantime, I ordered the "Sea-band nausea relief acupuncture wrist band" online at good ole Walmart. I do understand your aunt's fear about getting knocked out by using other remedies - I can't take Dramamine for that same reason, even the non-drowsy kind just about does me in. Hopefully the band will work for me... I can give a good review... and your aunt can use one come December!

Yay!!! Glad you enjoy Buffett tunes as well! His fans really are some of the most committed fans I've ever seen! Glad you have good memories when listening.

I can also vouch for the wristbands - they work by accupressure. They should come with instructions, but I think one of the more important points is to start wearing them before in order to prevent nausea. As for holding your arms up on ToT, I could never vouch for that, as I am white-knuckling holding onto those steel handles!

Well hello there yourself!!

That IS great news. Sadly something I will never experience. Curse there lack of Canadia shipping. I do get "your bands are waiting for you" so almost as good. Although said another way, not even close to being as good.

It's too bad you couldn't make a quick jouney over to Universal City Walk for Margaritaville. Sounds like it would be your thing.

I am bound and determined that I will ride ToT this trip (for the first time in years!)

I have complete faith this will happen. Mind and wristbands over matter.

Being Canadian we don't have Bonine (sp?) is it something that can be bought over the counter in Orlando? I'm used to popping pills that make me drowsy and/or loopy, because I insist on riding everything. But I'm always open to new approaches, the band sounds interesting, but I'll wait for your TR on that one.

@Sailormoon2 I am Canadian too - you can buy those wristbands at Shoppers Drug Mart...I think they work somewhat. Bonine anti-drowsy is good though - and that you can only get at a US pharmacy. Gravol (that you can get in Canada) does totally knock you out though...I take it when I can't sleep in fact lol.
