I can't stand it when store clerks

Don't ya love it when your total is $3.27...You hand them $4. Then you realize you have 2 pennies in you pocket. As you hand them the 2 pennies they have already rung up that you gave them $4.....Now, they're stumped. They kinda look at you like, "Why did you do that"? After a few uncomfortable seconds of them looking at you, looking at the $4, looking at the 2 pennies, beginning to examine the register tape....You finally have to tell them what your change should be.

This makes me nuts.....The cashier rings up all of my groceries at the super market and I am trying to help put things in the bags (that part doesn't bother me) So when the bag boy/girl gets to my things, I scoot back and begin writing my check. Cashier then finishes rining things in and just stands there. Do you think it would be too much to ask if they actually told me the total? Why should I have to ask,' What do I owe you?"

ok that's my pet peeve.

My pet peeve is when the customer behind crowds you. The grocery I go to has the little counter to write checks and swipe credit cards before the cashier. Today I used my ATM and the guy behind be had his cart in front of the machine. I had to lean way over to actually pay and he just looked at me like I was strange.

I'm with you, Kermit. I HATE when the cashier comments on what I am buying.

Just yesterday I went grocery shopping, and the cashier looked at some yogurt I was buying for my kids and told me that she tried that kind and thought it was disgusting. She then proceeded to tell me the soup that I bought had so much sodium in it that it could cause high blood pressure! If that wasn't bad enough she then told me that I could save a lot more money on my bill if I would buy more generics. She felt that name brands were a waste of money. I am definitely going to avoid her checkout lane from now on.

I train cashiers at my supermarket...believe it or not I actually train them to hand back coins first, then count the bills back out load to the customer, then hand them the receipt. We go over and over this in class. Do they actually do this when cashing...half the time NO! This is a big pet peeve of mine, I just went through the drive thru and had the bills and change handed to me in a big bunch, change dropped out of my hand and landed on the ground, cashier giggled, I got mad, went inside and spoke with the manager and gave him instructions on how to teach his cashiers how to hand back change...he was not amused! I also got my $.78 back.

Our store stresses customer service, we are taught to announce te total of the order and make sure we are thanking customers whether they spend $.50 or $500.00! If I ever heard a cashier commenting on a customers purchases like you guys are describing I think I would flip out! I just had a talk with a cashier 2 days ago because he was spending so much time talking that I could see the customer getting really anoyed. (He was talking with his friend who also works for the company) I could see steam coming out of the customer.

I wish I had time to talk at work.....I'm lucky if I have time to breath!
Luckyly I only do it two days a week , but I also have to be watching 7 gasoline pumps and the customers in the store, not easy at all on weekends! I count the change back to the customer as I am handing it to them, the majority of the time I don't have time for more than that...it's a very fast paced place!
And I REALLY HATE when customers hand me crumbled up bills!!
