I can't remember if the points are subtracted from your account in the year you do the search or the year you travel? I can't remember how that happened last time.

They are subtracted when you make the exchange. DVC is pretty flexible in working with you and I know of at least one instance where they waited months after the actual exchange to take their points. As long as yo have enough coming up, I wouldn't think you'd have a problem.

I will be using 163 '05 points and all '06 points. I just worried that if I got the exchange in February of '04 (not likely, but possible) for '06, that it would screw up my other planned trips before that time.

I don't know for certain but think it likely you would not have a problem. You might ask DVC though.

I don't think it was an issue last time, because we only traded for a 1 bedroom, so it was only 160 points. I guess I will just have to cross that bridge when I come to it. My last exchange came through in just 5 days, and I started my search 2 years out. I do remember that they gave me a date that the points would be taken out of my account, but I do not recall if it was in the use year of the trip or the year I made the request.
