I just can't figure out what to do on our arrival day at WDW in late September. We both arrive on 09/26/08, which is a Friday. We decided that we would not go to a park, but I am so perplexed as to what to do. For this trip, we decided to not go to AK. I love the park, but this is such a short trip and we have a major focus on Epcot's Food & Wine Festival, so something had to go given how short our tip is. Corey will be coming to WDW from VA where she will have been away on business for the previous week. I will be flying in early that day from the airport in Atlanta and we both will be using Disney's Magical Express. So far, we do not have her flight into Orlando booked and it might not be booked until just 2 weeks before we travel, since her employer will be paying for the flight "home". :scared1: So, I have no idea what time that she may be arriving at CSR.

Things I have considered in no particular order of preferrence......
1.) Book services at La Vida Massage & Fitness Center for Corey & me.
Follow that with a swim at the pool and dinner at Maya Grill and some time at Rix Lounge afterwards. Basically, this would give Corey some time to ease into vacation and leave the work week behind.

2.) Book the Afternoon Tea at the GF and then book services at the GF Spa for both of us. Go back to CSR and take a swim in the pool and later hit Maya Grill for dinner and Rix Lounge afterwards. Corey loves the Afternoon Tea at the GF, but in going there, we would need to take the bus and buses are never relaxing.

3.) Go to Disney Quest, which we have never tried. Eat dinner at Raglan Road and then go over to PI to play and get our drink on. This is obviously not the total ease your way into vacation idea, but she really does want to try DQ at some point and we both love Raglan Road and the Adventurer's Club and Comedy Warehouse.

4.) Go to Typhoon Lagoon and spend lots of time on the lazy river. When done, head over to CSR for dinner at Maya Grill and some time at Rix Lounge afterwards. We have both wanted to go to TL for awhile now. We enjoyed BB's lazy river quite a bit last year. Corey and I both would like to see the shark reef.

5.) Go to a park, probably Epcot, God help me, and enjoy the F&W Festival with half the rest of Orlando on opening day of the festival. Epcot closes at midnight, so even if we arrive late at the park EMH will make it a pretty productive day. Corey HATES crowds, so I know this is not the best approach, but it's another option.

So what do you think? I just can't freakin' decide and Corey is just not a planner and says "just plan it and I am sure that we will have fun" but I did that last year and did not take into account that by day 4 out of the house, she turns into Grumpzilla. Please vote to help me to decide. Thanks!

The day after, I return to work. Corey will be working from home and 3 of her best friends will arrive at our house and the day after that, they all go to a cabin in the mountains for a Girl's Weekend. None of them are bringing any kids or spouses, just 4 old friends having a good time in the mountains.

I appreciate your help. I have given up on deciding this all on my own.

I voted for Disney Quest (LOVE virtual space mountain) and Pleasure Island.

This should come as no surprise to anyone. Any option that includes the Adventurers Club is the one I'm voting for. :rotfl2:

I'm voting for Typhoon Lagoon (never been there but it looks like fun) I've often thought a waterpark would be fun on a day that you don't wanna burn a park admission...

besides...

then...

you can tell Corey....

"Tonight... youse swims with da fishes..."

If you are reconnecting after aome time apart than I suggest option number 1- iot is relaxing, gives you a chance to spend time at your resort (which you are paying for the privledge of anyway) and it doesn't matter when she arrives.

If it were me I would probably just hang out shopping and relaxing at Downtown Disney and then going to a night time swim and the hotel pool. I probably wouldn't reccomend Disney Quest because honestly I just didn't find it that much fun for the money. :confused3

Corey and I do live together. She travels for a living. She usually flies out to whatever site she has to be at for the week on Sunday and flies home late on Thursday evening/night. So, by the time Friday rolls around, I will not have seen her since sometime early Sunday morning.

We have 9 admissions to TL/BB/DQ/PI left on our tickets. It's not going to cost us anything extra to visit any of them. We upgraded our tickets to fully loaded no expiration 10 day tickets before we left last year. We will still have 3 park days leftover for our December trip, after which, we are thinking of biting the bullet and buying AP's for 2009.

I voted for DQ. It's very cool. Went to the one in Chicago years ago before they closed it. Virtual Space Mountain is my fave too. You get to build your own coaster and then ride it in virtual reality. Awesome!
:thumbsup2

Well since it won't cost you anything, I think it might actually be a good idea to visit DQ just for fun. I probably woudn't pay to get in though. The Virtual Space Mountain is actually a ton of fun to do.

I've never done DQ. It sounds kinda cool!
My partner dragged me to Typhoon Lagoon in Feb. I went, even though I'm not a waterpark person. I had a blast! Oddly enough. It was relaxing and fun and it was a good way to chill out. They have a fun watercoaster, a wave pool, and basically all of these water slides. It was good, and didn't take very long to go through the park. We got there at 11 and got back to our resort by 3:30 or so.
Not a bad suggestion, if your looking for something that doesn't involve thinking!

I know that more of you have an opinion on park touring. Come on guys, put in your vote, please! :flower3:

The wife has spoken......
Corey says that she wants to go to Typhoon Lagoon. So, that's the plan. Thanks for the input, it did help her to make up her mind. I really liked the TL idea, but she wasn't really sold on it. Thanks y'all!
