This is our first trip ever lol so idk if we'll be able to handle being there from rope drop to close yet. My whole idea is that if we do decide to take breaks, then obviously we'd want a resort that is comfortable for us as adults and not overwhelmed by kids. It all depends. When I was younger I was able to do rope drop to close but the last time my bf and I went to
disneyland, we made it through most of the day and we didn't get there at rope drop and didn't stay til close BUT when I went a couple of months ago with one of my friends we stayed all day. So I know it'll vary depending on how we're feeling.
I know you have qualified this comment, but you really need to understand you cannot get away from kids in Disney. They are everywhere, including the bars. Because this may end up being a consideration, I suggest you look at it carefully as you narrow down your resort choices.
POFQ is my home. We tried Coronado in May after 2 French Quarter stays, and I did not feel as charmed. The pool was better at Coronado as far as water slides go. However, the whole vibe is better for me at POFQ. The lighting, the brick streets, the jazz piped in throughout the resort, the river. It is just flat-out charming. It is also compact, so it is a short walk everywhere and only one bus stop. We decided we had to go back to POFQ next weekend, even though we usually stay once a year, just because Coronado did not scratch that itch for us.
I need to admit from the get go that POFQ is my favorite moderate resort. As you say, it is charming. My favorite time to stay there other than October, is the Holiday Season because I love the jazzy holiday selections that play softly throughout the resort. I love Holiday music, but the selections at POFQ are a welcomed change from those playing elsewhere.
Now, with that said and out of the way, for two adults I would consider Coronado Springs. And if I was planning on resort time, I woudl spring for Business Class. While there are children at this resort, it clearly caters to the business that schedule conferences so the theme is understated, the rooms very nice, the service is excellent, and the dining and lounges are very nice.
I can also add that when you look for discounts, many times CSR has the best rates. I dont know why, but have found that to be so. My DDIL, a friend and I stayed there last December and had a lovely stay. The decorations were stunning, the grounds perfectly groomed, the room was immaculate, and the CM's throughout were friendly. I dont know why I did not like it, other than perhaps the theme. There was nothing to dislike, and so much that was done so well, but that is why there are so many Disney Resorts to choose from. Anyway, this is why I always suggest this resort, because I know that the reason I was not fond if it was all me. The manager was everywhere, sometimes it seemed like all at one time. She was amazing and the people she led clearly followed her example. I had one little glitch and all I wanted was that little thing corrected. SHe went well beyond what I asked and what I would have considered reasonable.
