I Can't Believe We Ate the Whole Thing! 15 Nights of DDP with photos...!

Great review of Kona - DH and I are determined to have breakfast there in August. It will be an OOP brekkie so glad to know about the discount :thumbsup2

For some reason, I thought you might have had the Tonga Toast (until I saw why you didn't) and so I was hoping for a picture. I definitely wouldn't have liked those pancakes but Goofy's brekkie looked yummy :)

About the Discount - always ask before they bring the bill. We got the 10% at Spoodles too. I can't keep track of which places have AP discounts and which have DVC so we ask for both.

And...just for you:

I am still loving your reviews... You do an excellent job of posting the pictures and describing exactly what the food was like. It's so fun to read about!

slk537 - I love your tagline! (Sigh...other than WDW, if I could actually live anywhere else, it would be at our SuperTarget) and so agree! :thumbsup2

Those are fantastic pictures of your dining experience, thanks for taking the time to take them and to share them.

I was rethinking a reservation I've made for Yachtsman Steakhouse, but once I saw the photos of the food there and showed them to my guys, we're keeping it!

i'm loving your dining review.......makes me want to blow my diet! :lmao: i just got to the ohana's installment and can't wait to read the rest!

We ended the night with a snack of Stitch's astronaut freeze dried ice cream purchased in the shops at the Poly. Truly a most unusual item: tastes exactly like neopolitan ice cream, but dry and not cold.

Bizarre.

DH and DS? Loved it. :confused3

we went to kennedy space center after our recent WDW trip and they had "astronaut ice cream" that i'm sure was very similar to this stuff.

my DH loved it too.....

I love this site - but I'm a newcomer and getting a little lost in the lingo. Sorry! Can you help me out with "BCV," "VWL" and "BWL." Or... is there anywhere I can go to help me figure out the acronyms. This thread is great... I feel like an idiot asking for help. But...help... please...!
:goodvibes

Here you, go, a link to the DIS's info page about abbreviations and acronymns: http://www.wdwinfo.com/abbreviations.htm

HTH (Hope that helps!)

Mmmmmm, those macadamia and pineapple pancakes look beautiful. I might have to convince my mom to have breakfast there one day on our July trip! We love Kona, but have never eaten there for breakfast.

BCV = Beach Club Villas, VWL = Wilderness Lodge Villas. Hmm. BWL? I'm not sure if that's a typo? BWI = BoardWalk Inn.

DM--- I can't believe you didn't right in magenta!!!!!!!!! That's a first!

Sorry to hijack, but I had to mention that!
You little witch! ;) I noticed that as soon as I posted but then thought, no one will notice that one time occurence! :rolleyes1 Thanks!

Now back to your regularly scheduled thread...

It was just so....weird??? We bought another one with a snack credit to bring home for my nephew. He loves Stitch and he's a nine year old boy so I figured he'd love it...;)

I see someone else helped you with this but wanted to say WELCOME!! And don't feel stupid asking anything. We all had to learn at one time :goodvibes

Kona has the best breakfasts! And if you're a coffee lover, you can get the Kona pressed pot too. :thumbsup2

Grand Adventures in Cooking - DS's decorated cookie:

Okay - not really a food review, but it's food and it was so cute I couldn't resist ;)

Now on to actual foodstuffs:

Earl of Sandwich DTD

The Original Sandwich: roast beef, cheddar cheese and extra horseradish cream:

BCV5-11-07EOSsandwich.jpg

This is my favorite here - DH and I tend to order a sandwich and salad and split them when we come here. This was great as usual. The bread is excellent, the roast beef was tender and medium to medium rare and the cheese and sauce added to it to make it even better.

The Cobb - roast turkey, bacon, swiss cheese, cranberries, tomato and cucumbers over mixed greens in buttermilk ranch:

BCV5-11-07EOScobb.jpg

The salads are made to order - I forgot to ask for no cranberries, but they were not bad with it. The dressing is great and the turkey and cheese are in one inch chunks with lots of flavor.

Dessert - Cupcake tops:

It's cake, buttercream, and sprinkles. YUM!!

For drinks we had rootbeer and diet coke. DS wasn't hungry as he had eaten lots of cookies and had a huge breakfast in the room of fruit and cereal so he picked out the cucumbers from the salad and ate some of the sandwich with no horseradish on it. We packed the cupcakes for later.

This is a CS place with great food and WAY marginal service. You order your sandwich or salad at a cash register. And God forbid you ask what is included with a CS meal. I realize he had to repeat this over and over, but he was rude and zipped through it so fast that when I was looking at the other people in line with me, one of them said, "I am so clueless...what did he say???" I asked a manager what was included while my salad was being made (by a very nice person, I should add) and he told me something different.

Basically - you get a salad or sandwich, a dessert OR side item, and a fountain drink.

Confusing, chaotic, and irritating. But still...great food. :confused3
