:surfweb: OMG!! Its a good thing I'm at work :ssst: Don't tell anyone I spend a "few minutes" reading this War & Peace of Food reviews. What a fun thread. Keep them coming!!!

Your thread is awesome! I love all your food reviews...I think now we're going to O'Hana! Please, keep them coming!

Max looks really cute!

The sandwich looks yummy, are they made to order too so I could ask for no sauce?

It does :thumbsup2

Thanks! I love that photo of him...!

About the sandwich - definitely - everything is made to order. We always get extra sauce, there would be no problem getting none.

here is a couple of icons for you :rotfl:

Thank you all!! I told my DH about the "War & Peace of Food reviews" and we both had quite a laugh. It is really long for one person, isn't it???

JOH - another warning - PB coming up!!! :rotfl:

Pretzel rods, dipped in milk chocolate and rolled in Reese's PB Cups - YUM

These were SO good! (and yes, there is one missing!!! ;) ). They were like a Take 5 bar with no caramel, which I think would be a great improvement to the Take 5 :thumbsup2

And here is DS's invention - I go into more detail in my TR, but he got to "invent" and make his own:

I've been reading this in bits and pieces for about a week. Loving it!!
I make my ADRs tomorrow and I'm anxiously awaiting the rest of the reviews.
I also love how you've done the index on the first page. Thank you
Angela

Your son is adorable in that chef's hat! I wanna decorate my own cookie! Now why don't they have stuff like that for adults? :rotfl: Those pretzels rolled in PB cups look divine! I looooove peanut butter cups :thumbsup2

YUM! Besides making me hungry you reviews have provided many great tips.:thumbsup2 Thanks so much. I didn't know you could use SCs at Goofy's. DS is hyped to go there now. And wil be more hyped after we leave I'm sure!:scared1:

Your report has been so much fun to read! Thanks for taking the time to put it together for us to drool over! :)

Loving the reviews! I've even got DH hooked on them too and he's enjoying them as much as I am. :thumbsup2

Thank you all - I love reading other people's reviews and using them to plan my own trips...I knew putting this together would be so fun!

Thank you! We were disappointed he didn't get to actually cook anything, but he had a lot of fun with the cookie and the chef's hat just melts my heart

The pretzels? Yum! Not the prettiest treat I've seen made, but the tastiest!

YUM! Besides making me hungry you reviews have provided many great tips.:thumbsup2 Thanks so much. I didn't know you could use SCs at Goofy's. DS is hyped to go there now. And wil be more hyped after we leave I'm sure!:scared1:

Oh he will LOVE it!!! You can use SC's on anything $4 and under - exceptions being the bulk candy and a few assorted things that may be too new to be in the system. We used a lot of our CS credits to split as snacks and had lots of SC's left over in the last part of our trip, so we brought home lots of souvenier type things from Goofy's. We used some as gifts for my nieces and nephew and the rest we are keeping to "keep the magic alive" and bring out throughout the summer and fall until we go back again.

Our drinks:

DS ordered root beer, although our server said he could get a shake. We were going to order the Pirate Punch for him, but he really wanted root beer so we decided to wait for another restaurant. DH and I? We opted again for the chocolate milkshakes:

BCV5-11-07WCCI.jpg

I love these - they are real vanilla ice cream mixed with chocolate syrup and although they make a better dessert than a refreshing beverage, I love having milkshakes on vacation! Plus, you can see I always order water along with my shake so I get the refreshing part covered. :thumbsup2

Cornbread - comes with the skillets DS and DH ordered:

BCV5-11-07WCCIII.jpg

I didn't have any of this, as I was preoccupied with my shake :rotfl: but from previous trips to WCC, I can give it my thumbs up :thumbsup2 . DS was quiet and not interested in the whole atmosphere when we sat down and he had no interest in the cornbread, because it was in slices instead of muffin shape like his beloved "corn cake" at Famous Dave's. We got him to take a bite and then he decided he loved it and it perked him right up:

BCV5-11-07WCCVIII.jpg

Yes, he ate all but one of those!!

DS ordered the Canyon Skillet along with DH. He was still able to order an appetizer and he chose his favorite - watermelon:

BCV5-11-07WCCIV.jpg

Fresh, no black seeds - for him it was perfect!

DH's appetizer which came with the skillet - Mixed Greens - tossed in apple vinaigrette dressing with tomatoes, cucumbers and onions

BCV5-11-07WCCII.jpg

He liked this - the dressing is sweet and tangy and very light. A perfect foil to the barbecue. I didn't eat any this time, but again from previous experience I can give it a good review.

My appetizer - Nachos - corn chips smothered with our hearty beef chili, cheddar cheese, sour cream, tomatoes and green onions

BCV5-11-07WCCV.jpg

As you can see from the photo, I wouldn't say this was "smothered" with anything, but it was still rather good. I would have loved more chili, cheese, etc on this, as the toppings that were on it tasted great. And that would have made it a terrific entree. But for an appetizer that I shared with DH? Very good! We left a lot of lonely chips on the platter, so I wasn't too full for dinner.

DS and DH's entree - Smoked pork ribs, pulled pork, oven-roasted chicken, pork sausage, mashed potatoes, beans, creamy cole slaw and corn on the cob.

BCV5-11-07WCCVII.jpg

DS enjoyed the corn bread that came with this, as well as the corn on the cob and a "chicken stick" which is what he has always called drumsticks/chicken legs. DH isn't really into cornbread, which is good considering DS ate almost the whole basket, but he really likes the mashed potatoes, ribs, pulled pork and chicken. Neither of them touched the sausage but I did (shhhh!!!) and it was pretty good.

My entree - Grilled Chicken Pasta - with fresh vegetables tossed with Roasted Garlic Chipotle Cream Sauce

BCV5-11-07WCCVI.jpg

Yes - even though there was a NY Strip on the menu, I went with pasta. And am I glad I did! The photo pretty much looks like a pile of sauceless penne with some random broccoli and chicken, right? Not so! First of all, the broccoli was perfectly cooked for me: fully steamed, no crunchy, not mushy. Just perfect. And the sauce was creamy, garlicky and with a bit of a smoky kick. And there was plenty of it. The chicken was fine, but extraneous - I would have been happy with just the pasta, sauce and broccoli. I have always ordered the skillet before this and for this trip I'm glad I tried something different.

And then it was dessert time. I don't have a photo of DS's dessert - but it was a large chocolate chip cookie. It was so soft and fresh that when he picked up one side, the other side bent down and broke off.

DH's dessert - Cinnamon Tortilla with Vanilla Ice Cream - topped with fresh bananas and banana-caramel sauce

BCV5-11-07WCCXI.jpg

This was great - the sauce was excellent and the combination was great - DH says that despite being full from dinner, he could have eaten another one. I tried it and he was right - it was very, very good. The sauce rivaled the one at 'Ohana.

My dessert - Kahlua-flavored Chocolate Cake - chocolate mousse filling and fudge icing

BCV5-11-07WCCX.jpg

This was really amazing good! The frosting on top was like a dense fudge and the mousse layers were light and creamy. I was too full to eat much after the big meal, so I gave up on the fudgy frosting and just ate the mousse and cake layers - with the whipped cream. The cherry was lost to my little DS fruit bat ;) One strange thing - I didn't taste any Kahlua??

Overall - a fun meal and good food. This doesn't go down as one of the best we had, but it is a definite repeat. So much so that since we have it booked for Thanksgiving with a set menu, we'll still be going back for the regular menu.

The antics weren't crazy that night, but there was plenty of ketchup flying around and the activities for the kids were good. Not distracting and constant like 'Ohana, but just right. :thumbsup2

Again, everything (except the broccoli) looks yummy! We were there back in 2004 but the kids weren't into the antics there. Food was good though.

Good to know we had went last year for breakfast, as we had missed our dinner the night before.
We thought that it was good, but I was a little disappointed. I wasn't going to make another reservation this year but my boys really wanted to go back. (I guess they must have really enjoyed it). So, I was forced to make dinner ressies this time that we will definately keep.
That chocolate cake looks like it was made just for me.:woohoo:
