I Can't Believe We Ate the Whole Thing! 15 Nights of DDP with photos...!

Tillamook cheese...sigh... it would be worth getting a salad there just to have some of this scrumptuous cheese. I have some in my fridge I'm still hoarding from our trip to Oregon in March. We are the people that take an extra duffel bag just to bring back 20+ pounds of various cheeses!:rotfl: (Yes, some of it was for family and friends, lol!)

Thanks for the great updates. We are staying at VWL in October and have never eaten at RF so I'm glad to see they have some nice options. I'm love cupcakes and brownies so I'm happy to see such great pics and good reviews! Thanks!

Great reviews and fabulous pics. Keep em coming

Thank you!!

It was really good! I'm biased - I love our Wisconsin cheese, but oh...this was good!!

Great looking salad and brownie!!!

Both were excellent!

You will LOVE Roaring Fork! The breakfast options looked good too, but we never had any.

More RF photos up next!

We had to stop and get a couple Dole Floats...I think it's the law or something ;). Plus we had snack credits itching to get off the BCV card, as we had moved to VWL this day, and...well...do I really need a reason to get a Dole Float??? :rotfl:

DH had a Dole Float with Dole Whip and I got the same with vanilla soft serve. DS insisted he didn't want anything, but we knew that would change. I tempted him with my vanilla ice cream and then got him with the pineapple juice. He also tried DH's and loved it.

I think I prefer the vanilla ice cream with pineapple juice over the traditional. It was a little less sweet and just as refreshing. But either is pure hot day heaven...! :thumbsup2

For Dinner at Roaring Fork we all shared:

Bacon Cheeseburger and fries, chicken tenders and fries, Sprite, bottled water, fruit and cupcake:

BCV5-10RoaringForkburgerandchicken.jpg

As before, the cheeseburger was great (yeah - we like pickles!!) and the chicken tenders are always good. We love the dijon mustard sauce with those. We all enjoyed these meals before an evening swim. I think DS ate the entire container of fruit himself in about 30 seconds.

Later that night, we used up our last 2 CS credits on two pepperoni flatbread pizzas (individual size - two were perfect for the three of us) and DH also got two large chocolate milks and another two fruit cups to keep in the room for breakfast. Dh brought the pizzas up to the room and they travelled very well. They were covered and stayed nice and hot. The crust is extremely thin and they are not greasy. We had decided on a movie night so we ate the pizzas while watching Haunted Mansion on the DVD.

If you have extra credits and want a nice quiet night, grabbing a few flatbread pizzas and a movie is about perfect...:thumbsup2

I really do recommend Roaring Fork - good, basic food that is fresh and filling.

I would also like to point out that the sandwiches they have there are huge! We had so many credits that we weren't looking for huge, but here are the descriptions from allears:

Roast Beef and Blue Cheese on Focaccia with Grilled Red Onion, Mizuna lettuce and Buttermilk Chive Spread $6.99

Ham and Tillamook Cheddar on Whole-Grain Mustard Rye $6.49

Smoked Turkey and Brie on Honey-Oatmeal Bread with Tarragon Mayo spread and Mizuna Lettuce $6.49

Grilled Vegetable Sandwich on 7-Grain Bread" Hummus, Zucchini, onion, tomato, lettuce $6.49

Picture this: Each sandwich is a 1/4 wedge cut from a huge full sandwich - maybe 12 inch diameter. They are full of cheese and meat and veggies and if we'd gone back there for a meal, we would have definitely tried one.

With a few snacks that we picked up for later in the Mercantile (nestle ice cream sandwich, Tostitos nacho cheese and Tostitos chips) we ended our BCV total with every CS, Snack, and Adult TS used. We left two Child TS credits unused, but we had no qualms with that at all.

Our overall costs for BCV:

We spent $800.73 for the DDP: 9 nights, 2 adults, 1 child
Our food cost approximately: $1261.71
"Savings": $461.71

I can honestly say that we ordered what we wanted and did not pay attention to the "best value" so this worked out really well. We paid out of pocket for a few things, but most of those were luxury - alcohol, drinks around the pool, etc. We could easily have stuck to the DDP alone.

More great pictures and reviews! The Roaring Forks food sounds and looks great. And that brownie looks delicious! I have a soft spot for brownies, especially the really fudgy kind :thumbsup2

So you used them all :thumbsup2 I think, if we get the DDP for next year, that is my biggest fear. With 7 of us, it might be hard to keep up - I can't imagine the in-laws being so careful (obsessive) about keeping receipts as I am. It is very tempting though - that's a pretty good saving - and it's great that you just used the plan how it suited you rather than trying to get the 'best bang for your buck' as such :thumbsup2

That's great that you didn't have any left. We still had 12 snacks when we left last Sunday. We couldn't even find anyone to give them to! Everyone we talked to was on the dining plan!!

Thanks!

The brownie is a must do for us when we go to WL. Just excellent!

The TS's are so easy - you can plan all of those out and if you have a "take it easy" day, you can make it up with a 2 credit dinner or an extra breakfast. But the CS's? Wow. My advice? Don't hesitate to use them. We get behind because we share. We're okay with that, but last year when we weren't sure about how much food it all was, we did some OOP CS meals with the credits and got way behind. This year, we found breakfasts were a great use - especially with the two drinks. We would take the extra drink out to the parks with us.

Three words: Goofy's Candy Company! We went in there while we were at the BCV and one of the CM's told me that most people head there to use up all their credits for treats to take home. We ended up doing that with our VWL and BWV extras and I'll show you all later what we bought. It was great - almost anything under $4 - we got some great souveniers...!

First off.....15 days at 3 of the DVC resorts?? Wow :thumbsup2 You are my new Dis idol!! Love love love all the reviews and pics....I am patiently waiting for the Kona Cafe dinner review:goodvibes

Hi neighbor! Don't want to hijack the thread but why on earth would you move from Jersey to Watertown????

not to hijack the thread either but hello to both of you!! I'm in Syracuse NY and wouldn't mind having some more disney friends! :woohoo:

My DF isn't all that into disney and it'd be great fun to have someone to talk to about how much I (we) love disney!

btw, I'm loving this thread!! especially the desserts.. you seem to always have creamy ice cream/smoothie type things and that's my favorite kind of dessert!

Thank you and thank hubby for the pics!!! It was so nice of him and you to go to the trouble to add the unlimited Photobucket account!

You can add me to the picky egg eater club!!! I like my eggs very dry as well. I usually take my family's eggs out of the pan 2-3 minutes before I even consider mine done!!!

:goodvibes

Thank you! In retrospect, we'd have preferred just two resorts, but overall it was just wonderful!

This was the morning that we had DS booked for the Grand Adventures in Cooking (to be reviewed on my trip report) so we had another morning of "date time" for a couple hours. We took the monorail all the way around from the Grand Floridian to the Poly for breakfast at Kona.

This was an OOP meal, 10% DVC discount

Dh ordered orange juice and the Big Kahuna Platter: Pancakes, French toast, eggs your way, home fried potatoes, ham, bacon, and sausage

BCV5-11-07KonabfastIV.jpg

He really liked everything except the pancakes. Last year when DS was doing the GF Pirate Cruise, we had gone to Kona for our breakfast date and he ordered the same thing. His pancakes may have been good when breakfast came out, but by the time he got around to trying them they were hard and rubbery.

I started with the orange passion fruit smoothie. I had this last year and loved it! Like a drinkable creamy dreamsicle:

And it came with "bunny ears" for free!

The last time we went to Kona I got the infamous Tonga Toast and did enjoy it, but it was awfully sweet. Plus I love pancakes. So even though I really was in the mood for blueberry pancakes, I asked the server how sweet the Macadamia Pineapple pancakes were. She said the macadamia butter and pineapple were very rich, but she could put them on the side. I agreed and ordered it with the sausage on the side:

BCV5-11-07KonabfastIII.jpg

I really wish I could say I loved these. Stupidly, I thought the macadamia part was the butter and I thought there were macadamia nuts in the pineapple sauce. Nope. The pancakes were FULL of macadamias. The butter was sweet and had a few chopped nuts in it. Very good! The pineapple sauce was actually heated up dole canned type pineapple. The sausage? Very good. Not greasy at all.

My review: Too many macadamias in the pancakes. If you love macadamia nuts: order these!!! The pancakes were fluffy and fresh and if I liked the way they were served, they would have been excellent to me. I gave DH one of them and he agreed - too many nuts, but very good overall. Well cooked, well presented, just not my cup of tea.

I ended up eating around the edges where there weren't as many nuts, added the macadamia butter and maple syrup and that tasted very good. I definitely should have gone with my craving and ordered the blueberry pancakes, but I wanted to try something different.

Condiments on the table:

BCV5-11-07KonabfastI.jpg

Heated syrup, whipped butter and ketchup.

Overall, Dh was very pleased with his breakfast, my smoothie was excellent, and I didn't leave stuffed full of rich food. ;)
