I Can't Believe We Ate the Whole Thing! 15 Nights of DDP with photos...!

Woah, $30 for breakfast  Having said that, we paid $90 for breakfast for the 4 of us at CP last year.

That spoodles breakfast platter looked lovely though - I'm with you on the scrambled eggs - I like mine dry and slightly over-cooked :)

The french toast looked gooooood :thumbsup2

The breakfast potatoes have bits of onion and red pepper in them and were very good. ?

Oh I love breakfast potatoes like that...yummy.
I am with you on the French Toast...it is better with thin sliced bread.

Great report!!!:thumbsup2

Excellent excellent thread! Loving your reviews and photos. The Spoodles breakfast platter looks amazing! I had never considered going there for breakfast but it has all the things I love at breakfast, yummy!!! I don't like dry scrambled eggs too so they sound perfect to me!

Can't wait to read more :cool1:

Your reviews with pictures are great, Can't wait to see more!

I think I need to fit Coral Reef in my ADR's for our August trip with free DDP. I was on the fence about it before and now I think we should give it a try. We are going with my mother and her husband who are both first timers at Disney so I am trying to make ADR's at the places I think will be the most interesting places for them.

I would love to hear at the end what you saved using the DDP

I would be happy to! We "saved" a lot in the first 9 nights at BCV, and it didn't take long to break even and then move forward at the other two. I can certainly post that at the end.

That night we had dinner at Boma - I didn't take any photographs because there are so many on the Food Porn thread, but I'd still like to review it.

DH – doesn’t like Boma. As usuale, he had prime rib, chicken fingers, pasta (from kid’s pod) and French fries. Even his dessert was boring: chocolate chip cookies. He pretends to whine and moan about how much he doesn't really like it, but as long as he gets plenty of refills of his coke or Sprite and there is a nice person with a sharp knife and a large piece of roasted meat, he's happy

DS – loves Boma. Why? Watermelon. Back in September of 2005 when we went to Boma on his 4th birthday trip and he ate two plates full of watermelon and got his very own birthday treat, he has supported me in my love for this restaurant. On this particular night he was hungry and had a bowl of mac and cheese and then fruit. Five slices of watermelon. Five strawberries. Melon, grapes, cherries. And he had a kitty cocktail with more fruit. I call DH and DS my “fruit bats”. I have never met any other person who loves fruit more than these two. DS had two plates full.

And since I have to add at least one photo to this review - here is DS with his special bithday Mickey cake from Boma in 2005:

Me – Love, love, loves Boma. I had prime rib, Durban chicken with Boma mustard sauce, potatoes with afritude, hummus and flatbread, apple salad, avocado, mango and grapefruit salad, butternut squash soup (like pumpkin pie!), and a whole plate of dessert tastes. I really like the durban chicken with the mustard sauce - it is very tangy and unique...almost like a barbecue mustard if that makes sense.

The potatoes have enough of a kick to really be good - I like how they aren't dry like some buffet potatoes can be. The hummus is also magnificent. They have sundried tomato, kalamata olive and one other I can't remember. I like to mix the two together. The apple salad is a sweet and tart dressing on greens with granny smith apples. And the avocado, mango and grapefruit salad is just wonderful. Huge chunks of fresh avocado in a light sweet dressing. Call me crazy, but I shook a wee bit of salt on it and it was just wonderful!

The butternut squash soup tastes the same as the carrot ginger I remember. All it needed was a dollop of whipped cream, and I would have sworn I was eating liquid pumpkin pie.

I was disappointed that they didn't have the cocomisu, which is one of my favorites. They did have the zebra domes and banana bread pudding with vanilla cream sauce so that was good.

After dinner, we stopped down at the Mara to use up some snack credits. We got two containers of zebra domes (5 in each) and a container of kalamata olive hummus. They were fantastic treats to have in the room.

When we got back to the BCV, we stopped in the Marketplace to get a large bag of Chip and Dale Mickey pretzels to eat with the hummus.

So we were at the MK and it was time for lunch. We picked this restaurant for a few reasons:

1. We had just gotten off POC and we in the Pirate mode.
2. This place is never open when we’re here. Not since our honeymoon in 1997 - the exception being 2005 when they were demo-ing a buffet?
3. Tacos sounded good.

We got in line just as they were opening and we were only about 3 people back in line. This lunch was a good lesson for me – they only had one dessert choice. Almond chocolate ice cream bars. I assumed that they were automatically added when I told the cashier CM that we were on the DDP. They weren’t. I will add that this gentleman had had better days in his life. It seemed a little early in the day to be as crabby as he was, but he seemed pretty hot and cranky so that could be. I simply smiled sweetly at him and moved on. I then asked the sweet gentleman behind the counter who was putting the trays together and checking receipts if dessert was included. Our conversation went like this:

Me: "Excuse me - do these come with desserts?"
CM: Smiling broadly: "something something something something" Looks at receipt and smiles again. "Something."
Me: "Um...okay. Thank you!"

I have no clue what this man said to me and I suspect he didn't really know what I was asking, but I think his response was something along the lines of "Nope, it's not on the receipt Ma'am" He was really sweet and adorable though.

At first I was irritated that Crabby CM didn’t say anything, but then I realized that I need to be responsible. It isn't his job to make sure I get something I'm entitled to on the plan but didn't order. From now on? If we wanted dessert, we ordered it. I must have been having a stupid moment. I know I could have gone back through the line to get the darn ice creams, but in the end it turned out well because ice cream would have melted and we were all too full from lunch to eat dessert.

DH ordered the two beef tacos, which come with black beans and rice. He also ordered a large coke. With sugar ;)

I ordered the taco salad, which also came with black beans and rice. I added a large bottled water.

When you order, the tacos only come with meat in the taco shells and the taco salad comes with meat in the shell. They give you sour cream if you want and then you take your food to the toppings bar where they have large containers of shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, chopped onions, shredded cheese, salsa, and packets of hot sauce.

Each entrée also came with black beans and rice which look horrible in the photos, but really tasted great.

DS wasn't hungry and didn't really care what he ate so I ordered the cheese quesadillas for him. He really only wanted the grapes, applesauce and apple juice they came with so he was happy.

For being pre-made, the quesadillas were wonderful! Just basic white cheese melted in a tortilla. And then dipped in black beans and salsa...:rolleyes1

We sat outside, but in the shade and they played the Soundtrack from the POC movie while we ate, which made such a fantastic ambiance. Everything tasted great and I liked all of it. DH liked his tacos and my salad, but refused to try the black beans and rice, as they scare him. Kindof like hummus. Again - they are scary in the photos, but tasted wonderful.

This was a great CS choice.

Your DS is adorable! I am loving the pictures! Can't wait for more!!!

That's a great one! I'm a Diet Coke girl and DH hates it but a funny story... We were out a place called Zebb's once and I ordered a Diet Pepsi and he ordered a Cherry Pepsi. Our drinks come and he guzzles more than half the glass down. Finally, I take a sip of mine and just about threw up. It was his drink. He had guzzled mine down without even knowing! :lmao:

I did a double take after reading your post. I live in Watertown, NY and know the restaurant you wrote about. Small world!

I am so happy to hear that and have now added this to my CS list!!! DH and I are pretty picky people and while we both love Taco's we are choosy about our toppings.

Your reviews are just wonderful so again, I thank you for posting them!!

Missie :thumbsup2

I wont mention this to DH. He'd love it, and be sooooo looking forward to it. If it happened to be closed... He'd be PO'd for sure. Better to let this 'lil gem be a surprise. He's already licking his chops in anticipation of a couple of our TS that arent buffets:goodvibes

Keep up the good work - the reviews are great. I'm afraid that Boma just doesn't appeal to me at all. May have to try it once for DH, who is way more adventurous than me.

Fruit bats:rotfl2: Told DS about the watermelon-he's now very happy that he will see animals and have watermelon on the same night.

Hi neighbor! Don't want to hijack the thread but why on earth would you move from Jersey to Watertown????
