I can not believe it!!!! I just have to post this...I am so excited.....

I checked my flights for our trip this morning and guess what they dropped. We are going to DW Sept 28th to Oct 7th. We are taking my DH parents and sister along with our 3 kids for a 50th wedding anniversary present so we purchased 8 tickets. I made flight reservations months ago. It totaled $1724. Well.....I called today and got the same flights for $1084. I saved $640. I did not think the first price was too bad but today the prices blew me away. They refunded my credit card for $640.

How did you get Southwest to credit your cc? I have changed our flights and saved 310 but they are wrapped up in ticketless travel funds. I would LOVE them to put the funds back on my cc. Thanks!

Just call SW and tell the person helping you that you would like a credit instead of travel funds. They will put the request in. Just check your credit card 10-14 days later to see if there is a credit. You will have a much higher chance of getting a credit if it was the same exact itinerary, but the rate went down. I have done this twice now and received two credits totally $100 back on my card.

Sounds like maybe the first tickets were booked under a refundable fare. That's the only way they'll give credit to your credit card.

They will refund your credit card as long as the fares you are booking are not Dings and you keep the same schedule -- then you call their special refund line and ask them to credit your credit card -- I booked non-refundable fares and received an $80 credit -- now I have $136 more in ticketless travel because I got a ding!! WOOHOOO ---- gotta love SW!!!!

The tickets I purchased were non-refundable. The lady I talked to was very nice. I called while I was looking at the website. I told her that I had bought tickets and that the fare had gone significantly since I had bought them. She told me how to buy the new rated tickets while using the money I had already paid on the cc. I have ticketless travel. She walked me through the steps and then cancelled my old reservations. When I had confirmation of the new tickets, she asked me if I would like a credit to use later or she could credit my cc since I had the same flights as before. I asked her to credit my account. She did and told me that the credit should show up in 10 business days. The whole thing took about 10mins. She was great!!!!!
