Hi everyone! I’m almost done buying things for the College Program – every time we get a big box at my house, I steal it once it’s empty and fill it with things I’m taking with me. I have three boxes filled so far, and I probably will fill at least one more before I have to pack it all into two suitcases and a few boxes to ship down early.
In other news, I only have two weeks left of work. It’s weird thinking I’m almost out of here! Only 28 more days… that means 4 weeks from today, I will be in Disney! Wow. Weird how it was over 200 days only a moment ago.
However, that’s not why I’m here. I’m here to tell you about Day 2, Epcot day!
Today, we got up, and got there for rope drop. We waved to characters, but I didn’t take pictures this time… I love the characters.
I also got to see this cool car, which I had never seen before!
We also headed to Test Track, and were one of the first people to get on it. So early, in fact, that we were not able to get our Photopass picture… oh well. We didn’t actually do Photopass that trip anyway, I only bought a few of the photos… but that will come later.
After that, we went to Mission Space, where we were the only ones to man our space shuttle… thus, Lou and I each had two jobs… it really is hard to move in those little spaces. I’m amazed anyone is able to reach the motion sickness bags, in fact… glad I never need them!
After that, we headed to The Land, to do Living with the Land, which Lou had never done. He LOVED it. In fact, I told him about the Behind the Seeds Tour, and he was like “Oh, we have to do that!” We didn’t have time that day, but I said we’d try to come back and do it. Also, I wanted a Mickey Mini Garden… they’re little clippings of plants, and you grow it in a little hermetically sealed container, and when it’s big enough, you can grow it outside. It’s so cute! I bought a vanilla plant on our last day… it’s growing very well on my windowsill.
We got Soarin’ Fastpasses, and then went to do the Seas, I believe. After that, we did Turtle Talk with Crush, which was funny like always… I love Crush – I’m a big fan of sea turtles recently. They’re just so cute!
Then we ran into a friend… well, I wanted to make him my friend, and he had a short line, so I pulled out the autograph book and hung out with Rafiki for a little bit!
After meeting Rafiki, we went to Mousegears, where I got my watch fixed (I needed a link taken out ever since our last trip in August), and we bought some postcards for my work (one of them never made it, I liked it too much), as well as Nightmare Before Christmas Trivial Pursuit for Lou – it’s pretty fun, but we now both know way more about Nightmare Before Christmas than we will ever need to know.
After that, we went and explored Innoventions. I played the Money Management game with the pig, because Mickey_Mom said it was fun. It was! I’m pretty sure Lou and I creamed the wolf… haha.
Our Soarin’ Fastpasses had now reached their time, so we went on that – had about a 10 minute wait, if that. I love Fastpass! After Soarin’, we got lunch at the Sunshine Seasons – if you haven’t been here, go. It is probably the most amazing quick-serve place they have. I love it soooo much. Everything is delicious. I got the Turkey Focaccia and a Key Lime Pie, and Lou got the Veggie Flatbread (after hearing it was grown in the Living with the Land exhibit) and a Pineapple Upside-Down Cake. Delicious! Seriously. Go here.
Then it was time to go to the World Showcase. We adopted a “stop and smell the roses” attitude as well… at least long enough to take a picture of it.
We perused Canada, but didn’t watch O Canada again, and went over the pond to the UK, where we watched the end of the World Showcase Players show. It was hilarious. We came in a little late, but caught on pretty quick – they were doing King Arthur. It was so funny, mostly because of the guests they pulled – they were great.
After the UK is France, and you know what that means… Mousse! Yum.
Lou was able to snag us a table – amazing, since there are only about 5 of them! The mousse was great, but I was still stuffed from lunch, so he had most of it. We kept going to Morocco, where we perused again, and I ended up getting a henna tattoo! I’ve always wanted to see how it looks, and I figured, hey, for 15$, why not. I got a very “magical” looking one, but I wish she didn’t spray glitter on it, that made it look pretty lame… I ended up rubbing most of the glitter off, and just waited for it to dry and fall off (which it did by the time we hit America, mostly.. I may have helped it a bit.)
See? I thought it was cool! And it lasted for about a week – I ended up scrubbing it off early, but I think it would have lasted a few more days even.
We walked through Japan, and I didn’t get anything, but we looked around, since that store is so cool.
Onto America, where we finally saw the American Adventure. It was really good! But what was even better were the Voices of Liberty before the show – they sound so amazing, and even Lou said they were really, really good – they were really tight, he said, and worked well with each other.
We walked through Germany (since we would be back for dinner), looked through China quickly, and got a Fastpass for Maelstrom. We kept going to Mexico, where we went on the Grand Fiesta Boat Tour, which was cute, except we had people who spoke Spanish in our boat, and I don’t think they liked it very much.. they kept complaining.
We headed back to Norway, rode Maelstrom, sprayed some cologne and perfume testers on, and then went back to Germany for dinner. While we were waiting, we witnessed something so depressing…
A man and his daughter were sitting on the fountain near us, when the father is like “I can’t find Grandma, she’s not answering her phone, etc, etc,” and the girl goes “I bet she’s smoking, go check a smoking area.” The father FLIPS out, and is like “You know what, you all can eat dinner, I’m just going back to the room! I’m leaving!” (He’s not moving) “I’m serious! I’m going back! You can just stay here and eat without me!”
And he stalks off. Like a little kid. The girl wasn’t even being sassy about it, she was just suggesting a place (the way little kids do), and she ended up having to run after him. Of course, he came back, and kept being a jerk. Everyone in the pavilion heard and saw him, and I know I felt bad for the family… so did Lou.
Luckily, we didn’t sit with them, but we were with a family that didn’t say a word to us. Last time, we at least talked with the couple right next to us.. this family basically just all were staring into their respective drinks.. except for the one daughter. She was like “Can I have a (insert name here) beer?” And our waitress asks for ID, which she can’t produce… she “left it back at the room.” So of course, this being Disney, the waitress says she can’t let her have anything, and the mom is like “Oh, I’m her mother, I can say it’s okay she can drink.” Uhm… that’s not how it works… waitress politely explains she can’t drink. After that, we did not have the most happy table companions… so we tried to leave pretty quick. The entertainment was good though, and the food was delicious like always.. but seriously, tablemates make or break that place.
We got out with plenty of time for Illuminations, but instead of walking around anymore, we just headed over to Italy, and grabbed a corner right on that little island that juts out into the lagoon. Lou sat in the corner, and I sat next to him, so when there was about a half-hour left, we stood so we had the corner all to ourselves, which was great! (A mom tried to tell her kid to go in front of us, but there was nowhere to go, since I was literally right in the corner, after I brushed the spiders off the pole… gross). Illuminations was awesome, I used to love watching it when we were at the Yacht Club, and it was cool to see it from the ground too! (Last year we didn’t get to see all of it).
After that, it was Extra Magic Hours, but we only rode Spaceship Earth and Mission Space… the lines were just too long to make it worth it, and there was this group of really annoying line-cutting teenagers on Mission Space who gave me a headache, so we headed back to All Star Music.
We had a great 2nd day, even though not everyone around us did… it was a pretty long day, but we had Star Wars Weekend to look forward to the next day, so we got to sleep as soon as we got back.
