"I can't believe I got to fistbump Jango Fett!!" Our awesome 3 year anniversary trip!

Mickey_Mom-you have never been to the Poly or never had a Dole Whip???

Nope, never had a Dole Whip. I know!

I've been to the Poly, but only to walk off the monorail and go to 'Ohana. Then to walk down the stairs and go to the bus area. That's it. I've never walked around outside, or been to Captain Jack's, or to the beach area, or to the hammocks.... :sad2:

Wow, your room DOES look really nice. I hope I get a refurbed room at the POP. I saw that you or Lou had rolled up your days' outfits in the drawers? That's such a great idea! I always just kind of pile them on top of eachother. Day 1 outfit together, than day 2 outfit on top of that and so on. Might help save space too!

It does save space! It's really great for when you only want to do carryons. My math teacher in 8th grade taught us that... haha.

Hi,
Just found your report...great first day...that's one of the cool things about Disney...so much to do without going into the parks!

Can't wait to read more..

Thanks for joining in! :teeth:

You've been missing out... haha. Well, what better way to spend Christmas break than on the beach in a hammock?

Wonderful first day! I want to try Ohanas next trip if possible. I forgot about the parade. Thats another "want". I really need to win the lottery so I can stay a month and do it all!

Hi everyone! I’m almost done buying things for the College Program – every time we get a big box at my house, I steal it once it’s empty and fill it with things I’m taking with me. I have three boxes filled so far, and I probably will fill at least one more before I have to pack it all into two suitcases and a few boxes to ship down early.

In other news, I only have two weeks left of work. It’s weird thinking I’m almost out of here! Only 28 more days… that means 4 weeks from today, I will be in Disney! Wow. Weird how it was over 200 days only a moment ago.

However, that’s not why I’m here. I’m here to tell you about Day 2, Epcot day!

Today, we got up, and got there for rope drop. We waved to characters, but I didn’t take pictures this time… I love the characters. :)

I also got to see this cool car, which I had never seen before!

100_3329.jpg

We also headed to Test Track, and were one of the first people to get on it. So early, in fact, that we were not able to get our Photopass picture… oh well. We didn’t actually do Photopass that trip anyway, I only bought a few of the photos… but that will come later.

After that, we went to Mission Space, where we were the only ones to man our space shuttle… thus, Lou and I each had two jobs… it really is hard to move in those little spaces. I’m amazed anyone is able to reach the motion sickness bags, in fact… glad I never need them!

After that, we headed to The Land, to do Living with the Land, which Lou had never done. He LOVED it. In fact, I told him about the Behind the Seeds Tour, and he was like “Oh, we have to do that!” We didn’t have time that day, but I said we’d try to come back and do it. Also, I wanted a Mickey Mini Garden… they’re little clippings of plants, and you grow it in a little hermetically sealed container, and when it’s big enough, you can grow it outside. It’s so cute! I bought a vanilla plant on our last day… it’s growing very well on my windowsill.

100_3350.jpg

We got Soarin’ Fastpasses, and then went to do the Seas, I believe. After that, we did Turtle Talk with Crush, which was funny like always… I love Crush – I’m a big fan of sea turtles recently. They’re just so cute!

Then we ran into a friend… well, I wanted to make him my friend, and he had a short line, so I pulled out the autograph book and hung out with Rafiki for a little bit!

100_3355.jpg

100_3356.jpg

After meeting Rafiki, we went to Mousegears, where I got my watch fixed (I needed a link taken out ever since our last trip in August), and we bought some postcards for my work (one of them never made it, I liked it too much), as well as Nightmare Before Christmas Trivial Pursuit for Lou – it’s pretty fun, but we now both know way more about Nightmare Before Christmas than we will ever need to know. :rotfl:

After that, we went and explored Innoventions. I played the Money Management game with the pig, because Mickey_Mom said it was fun. It was! I’m pretty sure Lou and I creamed the wolf… haha.

100_3365.jpg

100_3363.jpg

Our Soarin’ Fastpasses had now reached their time, so we went on that – had about a 10 minute wait, if that. I love Fastpass! After Soarin’, we got lunch at the Sunshine Seasons – if you haven’t been here, go. It is probably the most amazing quick-serve place they have. I love it soooo much. Everything is delicious. I got the Turkey Focaccia and a Key Lime Pie, and Lou got the Veggie Flatbread (after hearing it was grown in the Living with the Land exhibit) and a Pineapple Upside-Down Cake. Delicious! Seriously. Go here. :lmao:

Then it was time to go to the World Showcase. We adopted a “stop and smell the roses” attitude as well… at least long enough to take a picture of it. :teeth:

100_3366.jpg

We perused Canada, but didn’t watch O Canada again, and went over the pond to the UK, where we watched the end of the World Showcase Players show. It was hilarious. We came in a little late, but caught on pretty quick – they were doing King Arthur. It was so funny, mostly because of the guests they pulled – they were great.

After the UK is France, and you know what that means… Mousse! Yum.

100_3367.jpg

100_3369.jpg

Lou was able to snag us a table – amazing, since there are only about 5 of them! The mousse was great, but I was still stuffed from lunch, so he had most of it. We kept going to Morocco, where we perused again, and I ended up getting a henna tattoo! I’ve always wanted to see how it looks, and I figured, hey, for 15$, why not. I got a very “magical” looking one, but I wish she didn’t spray glitter on it, that made it look pretty lame… I ended up rubbing most of the glitter off, and just waited for it to dry and fall off (which it did by the time we hit America, mostly.. I may have helped it a bit.)

100_3383.jpg

See? I thought it was cool! And it lasted for about a week – I ended up scrubbing it off early, but I think it would have lasted a few more days even.

We walked through Japan, and I didn’t get anything, but we looked around, since that store is so cool.

Onto America, where we finally saw the American Adventure. It was really good! But what was even better were the Voices of Liberty before the show – they sound so amazing, and even Lou said they were really, really good – they were really tight, he said, and worked well with each other.

We walked through Germany (since we would be back for dinner), looked through China quickly, and got a Fastpass for Maelstrom. We kept going to Mexico, where we went on the Grand Fiesta Boat Tour, which was cute, except we had people who spoke Spanish in our boat, and I don’t think they liked it very much.. they kept complaining.

We headed back to Norway, rode Maelstrom, sprayed some cologne and perfume testers on, and then went back to Germany for dinner. While we were waiting, we witnessed something so depressing…

A man and his daughter were sitting on the fountain near us, when the father is like “I can’t find Grandma, she’s not answering her phone, etc, etc,” and the girl goes “I bet she’s smoking, go check a smoking area.” The father FLIPS out, and is like “You know what, you all can eat dinner, I’m just going back to the room! I’m leaving!” (He’s not moving) “I’m serious! I’m going back! You can just stay here and eat without me!”

And he stalks off. Like a little kid. The girl wasn’t even being sassy about it, she was just suggesting a place (the way little kids do), and she ended up having to run after him. Of course, he came back, and kept being a jerk. Everyone in the pavilion heard and saw him, and I know I felt bad for the family… so did Lou.

Luckily, we didn’t sit with them, but we were with a family that didn’t say a word to us. Last time, we at least talked with the couple right next to us.. this family basically just all were staring into their respective drinks.. except for the one daughter. She was like “Can I have a (insert name here) beer?” And our waitress asks for ID, which she can’t produce… she “left it back at the room.” So of course, this being Disney, the waitress says she can’t let her have anything, and the mom is like “Oh, I’m her mother, I can say it’s okay she can drink.” Uhm… that’s not how it works… waitress politely explains she can’t drink. After that, we did not have the most happy table companions… so we tried to leave pretty quick. The entertainment was good though, and the food was delicious like always.. but seriously, tablemates make or break that place.

We got out with plenty of time for Illuminations, but instead of walking around anymore, we just headed over to Italy, and grabbed a corner right on that little island that juts out into the lagoon. Lou sat in the corner, and I sat next to him, so when there was about a half-hour left, we stood so we had the corner all to ourselves, which was great! (A mom tried to tell her kid to go in front of us, but there was nowhere to go, since I was literally right in the corner, after I brushed the spiders off the pole… gross). Illuminations was awesome, I used to love watching it when we were at the Yacht Club, and it was cool to see it from the ground too! (Last year we didn’t get to see all of it).

After that, it was Extra Magic Hours, but we only rode Spaceship Earth and Mission Space… the lines were just too long to make it worth it, and there was this group of really annoying line-cutting teenagers on Mission Space who gave me a headache, so we headed back to All Star Music.

We had a great 2nd day, even though not everyone around us did… it was a pretty long day, but we had Star Wars Weekend to look forward to the next day, so we got to sleep as soon as we got back.

Holy mother of updates! At first when I saw the test track car, I thought it was where you'd be on the CP but then I read on. Doh! It's really a cool car.

A Mickey vanilla plant? I want one!

Rafiki! :lovestruc

Yay for playing with pigs! Glad you had fun with it, aren't they cute?

I've never been to Sunshine Seasons but it's definately on the plans for this upcoming trip. Pineapple upside down cake.... yum! Trying that for sure, I love pineapple. Oops, haven't had the mousse either, that looks delicious too. (Thank heavens I'll be walking a lot!)

Oy for jerks! I always feel so bad in those kind of situations and it's hard when you can't do anything. At least you weren't sitting with them but sounds like you didn't fair much better anyway. Bummer.

Glad you had a great day despite some real winners around you. Can't wait to hear about your Star Wars Weekend. I don't think I've ever read a TR covering one before!

I didn't know that France had Chocolate Mousse! I want some! That looks so good! I bet Claire and I could easily share one...or 2 :rolleyes1

I bet you are so excited to leave. It's getting so close.

Didn't you pick a pearl in Japan last year...if I remember right?

I have bought these really cute Cinderella coach necklaces for our next trip and plan to take Claire there and each of get a pearl to put inside.

Oh, you definitely can share one... or three. They're so light and delicious!

I did pick a pearl in Japan last time, and I did it twice. Lou was like "No pearls this time!" That was fine with me, because I didn't really want one - I have the ones from the last trip, and that's good enough.

I do love those Cinderella coaches though, they are so cute! I wish Disney sold those somewhere to use for your pearls, even if the store itself doesn't sell them.

I can't believe I missed this update. What's wrong with me???

Do my eyes decieve me? Did not spend long in Japan???? I'm ashamed of you!

Ok, jks. I've never been to that pav, so I expect to spend at least 30 mins in it.

Man....sucks that you had to witness that father/daughter spat. And your tablemates.....blech.

Ewww....spiders......

You're so close to starting your CP program!

How are things going?

They are crazy! Haha. I pulled some photos at work the other day (my last day of work at the cruise company!!!!!), so let me see if I can get an update up tonight, after I finish packing one of my boxes!

There's only 9 more days until I leave!!!!

Day 3 – Star Wars Weekend at Hollywood Studios!

Not only was it Star Wars Weekend, it was also Extra Magic Hours! Ack! So we had to be up extra early… and of course, I think we JUST missed a bus there. Luckily, there were a LOT of buses going to Hollywood Studios, because it was EMH and S.W.W, so we were the only people on our bus when it did come (not even 5 minutes later, haha)

Lou was sad that we didn’t get to see the Storm Troopers opening the park, since it was EMH, but he forgot that pretty quickly, since we went straight to Rock’n’Roller Coaster and the Tower of Terror, followed by Toy Story Mania for Fastpasses.

While getting the Fastpasses, we could see the HUGE lines already forming for characters, especially Darth Vader. However, some characters were just walking around without handlers, like this one:

100_3405.jpg

However, she was too much in character, in that she wouldn’t take a photo with me.. she walked away whenever I tried to get one, but would pose with other people who came up. That was not exactly the best start to the morning, but I felt better after Lou told me she dies in the movie…. Vengeful? Yes.. but... she really was rude. Haha.

After getting Fastpasses, we headed over to the Special Events Store they had set up by the Backlot Tour – that’s where the Annual Passholder Han Solo pins were – I got one for Lou and one for me, and then Lou ended up getting 6 other pins on top of that! (His were all limited editions of 1000 though, so pretty cool!) The AP pins were only a limited edition of 4000, so there were a lot more of them.

I think it either was drizzling today, or raining on and off – I forget. But we did a bunch of things we hadn’t before, along with some of the old classics – Great Movie Ride, Star Tours, Muppet*Vision, Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream (the movie almost made me cry – I was really close), Beauty and the Beast (finally! But I didn’t actually like it that much… the Beast’s growling was a little too lame and over the top for me).

At some point during the day, we got in position for the parade – there are these bronze strips running the length of the parade route, and we grabbed a spot right by Indiana Jones and across from the garden of busts, where the bronze strip runs right into a curved wall. We got right next to the wall, and no one was allowed to stand in front of us! The Parade Audience Control people kept shooing people away from our spot, and explaining that no one could stand in front of us, since we were right at the bronze line (and there was no room behind us to move back, since there was a wall). Awesome spot, and hopefully I can get it again in the future. :)

Here’s some photos from the parade, since there was no one in front of us, I got good photos!

100_3430.jpg

100_3432.jpg

100_3443.jpg

100_3447.jpg

Then we were able to jump in right at the end of the parade to get over to Star Tours (this is when we rode it, since there was only a 5 minute wait! And we had Fastpasses for it, so we rode it twice, because it will be shut down when Lou visits me in November)

100_3448.jpg

100_3449.jpg

After Star Tours, we went to get some autographs… while we were waiting in line, we saw this hilarious sight… see anything out of the ordinary? They did this every 5-10 minutes, it was so funny!

100_3455.jpg

And here is the reason the TR is titled what it is:

100_3457.jpg

Lou didn’t think that Jango Fett would fistbump him back, but he wanted to try – and I got the perfect shot. Then I felt like the 3rd wheel while they posed together, haha. Oh well. Lou was really excited about the fistbump, it was so funny. He geeked out.

100_3459.jpg

It started to rain, so we went to the Art of Disney Animation and sat in on the drawing class - look what we made! Here’s mine:

100_3467.jpg

Here’s Lou working, and then his finished product:

100_3468.jpg

100_3470.jpg

They turned out really well, and I recommend this for everyone! Neither of us can draw, and ours both turned out really well, I think! Little kids made awesome ones too, so it’s really a neat 15 minute or so thing the whole family can do.

It started to pour at this point, so Hyperspace Hoopla was cancelled, which was really depressing, because it is supposed to be awesome, but there will be future years that we can see it, I’m sure (although I was really hoping that the lady in purple from before would come out to dance, and slip….)

OH! Speaking of slipping – earlier in the day, I was (stupidly) racing Lou around a cart to go shopping at the Villains in Vogue store, and I hit the only wet patch on the street with my Crocs… slam, I went down, and hit the curb. I bounced right back up, but I was gushing blood from my knee – Lou saw it, of course, but was nice enough not to laugh at me (at least right then, haha) we had to hobble over to First Aid for a big Bandaid, and then he bought me a shirt – it’s a ladies ¾ sleeve football-like jersey… I love shirts like that, and it’s really comfy, so I love it – and it has Jack on it!

Anyway, so Hyperspace Hoopla was cancelled, so we grabbed a photo by the speeder, now that Chewie and the Ewoks had run inside from the rain.

100_3473.jpg

Dinner tonight was at the Yacht Club, so we took the ferry over, since my knee and my feet were killing me. While we were waiting for dinner, I bought my parents a print of the Yacht Club pool, since that’s my mom’s favorite resort.

At the Captain’s Grille, Lou got the Crab Cake and a Chocolate Cheesecake, while I got Pork Chops, and had some of his cheesecake – I was saving room for what came next…

100_3482.jpg

Beaches n’ Cream!!!!!

We got the No Way Jose… it sounds good, right?

100_3484.jpg

Well, look at it!

100_3486.jpg

Om nom nom. It was delicious. We split it, and I can’t believe we finished it! It was massive, although it might not look it in the picture.

We were seated at the counter, right next to this:

100_3489.jpg

We thought they spelled “Drink” wrong for the longest time, but we finally realized (about a month later) that it was a German Coke Dispenser. Duh.

We caught the ferry back to Hollywood Studios, got out just before Fantasmic finished, and were on the bus home, where we promptly fell asleep, bone tired. After all, tomorrow is Magic Kingdom day, and it’s open until 3 am! We wouldn’t be that crazy though, would we?

Woow, sounds like such a fun day! And great spot for the parade!

That......no way jose looks....*drools*

They're closing Star Tours in Sept right? I'm so glad I'll be able to go on it one last time in Aug. I was worried they'd close it before my trip (like a bunch of other rides....*grumbles*)

What a fun day!!! I live this update. I'm not a star wars fan, and have no clue who most of the new guys are (I did see all the old movies when they came out) But it looks so fun.
I want to have a no way Jose too. I don't like Chocolate iceream, though so I'mm gonna ask for all vanilla. I assume they would do that. Of course I have to et there first.
Do you know where you will be working yet? We might possilby be going in Dec, and I would love to say hi.
make sure you update us once you get there.

Han Solo pin?!? drool!

Aww you didn't like BatB? I've always cringed at the Beast's human hair but I don't remember the growling. Well, it's a good thing you aren't working there!

Parade spot duly noted! You have great pictures! Goofy Vader's shorts are hilarious. Did you call to the characters to make them look at you?!

Do you know how long it took me to see the Storm Troopers head?? I showed it to Alex and he found it instantly. Oh well. Apparantly I suck at I Spy. :lmao:

Your drawings are great! I can't wait to try that.

Oh.

My.

Gosh.

That No Way Jose looks incredible!!

omg that ice cream looks yummmmmmmmmmmmmy... *drools*

I can't believe how many rides are closed while we're there!!! :/

I will be working in Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom! Not sure of the ride(s) yet, but if you do come down, send me a PM and I'll let you know the details if I don't post them here first!

The No Way Jose looks really yummy!

You got amazing pictures of the parade.

Thank you! I was really happy with how they turned out. :)

I didn't even have to call them! Since we were the start of the crowd on that side, they just automatically started waving at us, which was awesome!

I figured the iSpy might take a while, but wasn't it worth it? It was so funny!

omg that ice cream looks yummmmmmmmmmmmmy... *drools*

It was soooo good! We tried making it at home a few months ago, and it just wasn't the same. :/

I am motoring through updates now... I'm trying to finish before I leave, and I only have 7 days left at this point. I think I can get my last two days done in that time though!

Without further ado:

Day 4 – Magic Kingdom Day!

Unfortunately, I didn’t take too many photos this day.. today was our Keys to the Kingdom tour, so we got to the park super early, and got to go in while everyone else was waiting.. that was pretty cool!

If you’ve ever wondered what the Magic Kingdom looks like when it’s reallyyyy empty, here you go!

100_3490.jpg

100_3491.jpg

100_3492.jpg

We went to the building next to City Hall to get our badges and earpieces (I broke mine during the tour, and felt really bad… it still worked, but the clip piece broke off.. oops), but since we were early, we got to explore a little bit. That meant me running around, taking photos, and asking a Photopass photographer if she could take photos of us in the empty park. She was a College Programmer who had just started, and she said she already loved it. Here’s one of the photos she took with my camera:

100_3494.jpg

Then we went back to meet our tour guide, who was very funny – he’d worked basically everywhere in the parks, and knew a lot. We started on Main Street, and worked our way through Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland (stopped for lunch, which was delicious, and Lou loved the surprise of the pin he got!), and then went to Liberty Square, where we talked a bit, since the Haunted Mansion was having problems, so he told us stories about when he worked there. Then it was off to the Utilidors, where we talked more, and one of our tour group wandered away, haha. He said he wanted to go to the bathroom, but our tour guide was like “You really, really shouldn’t do that.” I got a few prizes for knowing the answers to questions, which was pretty cool! I think it was a sticker and a fake gem.. cute!

When we went backstage, we got to see some of the floats for the Main Street Electrical Parade, which was really neat, since it hadn’t started yet.

Here is our tour guide:

100_3497.jpg

I want to say his name was Scott…. but I really can’t remember now, which is sad.

After the tour, Lou and I wandered a bit, and we stopped by the Main Street Bakery for some food, since we had never been, and it smelled great. We got Fastpasses for Space Mountain, as it was closed last August, and it was awesome riding it again, I loved it! Although I was totally not ready for the picture they took at the end, I didn’t know about that… oops. Needless to say, did not buy that one...

I forget what rides we went on, but we did quite a few… we did Pirates, the Hall of Presidents (I think..), the Haunted Mansion (this took FOREVER), it’s a small world, Mickey’s Philharmagic, the Mad Tea Party, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority, and the Laugh Floor. There may have been more.

We met up with my friend for a bit before dinner, and she went on a few rides with us – it was great to see her, since she and I will both be working together soon. She’s already down there, as a Character Performer. :)

Dinner was at the Crystal Palace. It was fun! I totally got Lou, and was like “Oh, Tigger, Lou wanted a photo with you too!” Haha. He was good though, and put up with it.

100_3506.jpg

100_3507.jpg

100_3509.jpg

Here’s me with Eeyore…

100_3514.jpg

I showed Eeyore my Jibbetz (the things you put in Crocs) since I have one of him, and he “liked” it… that was fun. I think he gave me a hug for it. Haha. I am such a nerd, but I love Eeyore.

100_3515.jpg

We had a great spot for Wishes, right by the bridge to Tomorrowland – we were next to another couple, and I took a photo of them for them when the castle looked really pretty. Wishes was awesome, I didn’t even take any photos of it, I just enjoyed it. :)

We caught the second parade of Spectromagic, which was great – I’m glad we waited for the second one, it was still pretty crowded, but probably way less so than the first one.

At about midnight, we got Casey’s Corndogs… delicious, even in the wee hours of the morning, haha. I missed their corndogs – even Lou said they were probably some of the best corndogs he’s ever had!

100_3526.jpg

100_3542.jpg

Here is the castle at about 2 am…

100_3561.jpg

We went on Splash Mountain 2 times, and we were going to ride it again, but we got soaked the 2nd time, so even though they asked us if we wanted to stay on, we were like “ohhhh no thank you.” (even though I wanted photos since no one else was on it, Lou didn’t want to ride again. Alas.) Big Thunder Mountain had broken down, otherwise we would have gone on that one too.

At 2:30, we got one last float from Aloha Isle… and then started towards the exit. I grabbed this last photo of Lou before we left..

100_3574.jpg

before we made it all the way out though, we went up to the Train Station, and I took a photo of the Mickey a custodial host had made:

100_3576.jpg

pretty cool!

Then we went back to our hotel, and collapsed. We were sleeping in the next morning, considering we didn’t make it back until after 3 am… but it was so worth it!

I'm heading off to bed myself and I'll come back with a 'proper post' but I just wanted to congratulate you :worship::worship: on staying up until 3am! Seriously! How many people were still there when you left?
