I Can't Be The Only McDonalds McSlave Here...

Let's see...

LEAST FAVORITE: probably those grease traps too.

MOST FAVORITE: working lunch rush or Autumnfest Parade Day (it was INSANE that day!!!)

Our managers & crew were GREAT!! When it was busy, Roger (our store mgr) would work bin.....and the guys on the grill would call out things like "10 on 6B". It was our inside joke. It meant....there's a 10 (hot girl customer) at cash register 6B. :) With all the other numbers being called out, customers never knew what we meant. But it was obvious sometimes when everyone would stare at that register. Us girls started doing it about guys too.

Roger would also ask us trivia questions during a rush!!!

Our owners where great too --- Mr & Mrs "Ski". It was like one big family!!

SplashMtn - Memories just came rushing back....I remember the guys calling out "10 on 3B." Those were the days. I woked there for about 3 years during high school. I loved it. I also started with the blue polyester uniform and white shoes, then we moved on to LIME GREEN!!! (if I still had that uniform I could wear it on my next trip to WDW - LOL) I even met DH there, but we didn't start dating until years later. Does anyone remember the 7 1/2 steps of window - I do!

I did for 2 1/2 years in college. I still remember the Six Steps to Success (which I don't think they use now:rolleyes: ) Our store even won a QSC (Quality, Service, and Cleanliness) contest for our region and got to go on a riverboat cruise.

My favorite job was either drive-thru or closing. Almost everyone, including the managers, was the same age and went to the same school. After closing the stereo was cranked up and the atmosphere was totally relaxed.

My least favorite job was working the lobby, esp. after a high school football game. Nasty little buggers:eek:

I worked 3 weeks for McDonald's....and then quit! Hated that job! I was only 15 years old at the time, in 1976. I made $2.35 an hour!

I worked there waaaaay back in 1976 - 1978. I made $2.65 an hour (recently found one of my old pay stubs!)

Prices -
hamburger - $.30
cheeseburger - $.38
Quarter pounder - $.70
QP with cheese - $.85
Big Mac - $.80
fries - $.30 & $.45
drinks - $.20, $.30 & $.40
shakes - ???not sure
pies - $.30

****************
That's about all they had. I don't remember the breakfast prices since they were pretty new then, No drive-thru. No computerized cash registers! They were like the old typewriters AND we had to figure out the tax! :)

I worked counter in the beginning and we all strived to be $100/hour girls! (which was tough to do back then - usually only made it on the weekends)

At the end I worked 7 - 3:30 so I did breakfast and then lunch - I worked the grill. I hated doing metro, which was emptying all the trash buckets. I liked filling the fry racks. I also liked doing the cooking. Back then we had to completely clean the shake machines.

I really liked working at McDonald's because all my friends worked there, and if they didn't, then they all showed up there. I liked the folks I worked with. We hung out together and had a softball team. We also had a lot of parties.

I always thought working there was a good experience, but oh, those polyester uniforms! :)

Oh Splshmtn! :) I remember doing ICE calls, which meant the same thing as your calls. (ICE on 3 for you, Andy!) I had forgotten about that until you mentioned it.

And yes, I remember the blue and then lime green uniforms! :)

On one hand, I've been back there so I know what it's like. On the other hand, I think I tend to be critical and think "that's not how I was trained to do it."

Believe me I think that WAY TOO often, and at the same store that I worked at too!!

I think the one that bugs me the most, is they don't double fold the bag for to go orders. I remember getting in trouble for NOT doing it. I find myseld doing it anytime I get a bag, even for my kids school lunches. LOL

It was my first job while I was in cosmetology school. I had to clean that shake machine every night and HATED it!

LOL -- I tell DH that everytime we go through the drive-thru.

We all KNOW why we had to double fold -- it's PROVEN to keep the food warmer for X number of seconds longer. LOL

How about: holding fry boxes from side; tilting bag to insert fry box in so you don't touch the fries or dump the fries.

OR: pour the drinks -- but don't get the fries until sandwiches are up -- so everythings still served warm.

Yep. I don't think that they must train in this fashion any longer.
