I didn't believe it yesterday and thought the scale was wrong, but as of today I am down 20lbs. It seems so far fetched, but I can see and feel such a big difference that I know it's right! (unfortunately a lot of people can because I am so overweight, but they will soon enough!)

I started Atkins on 1/27/04 and am amazed with my progess (and DH's). We are both really overweight, so I am assuming that is why our weightloss has been so rapid. I know eventually it will slow down and stall, but this has been very encouraging for both of us.

I've only been exercising an average of 3 days/week and DH isn't at all because of a foot problem that he's having an operation for in 2 weeks.

We are both still on induction and I plan to stay on it for another 2-3 weeks.

Because I've lost weight in odd places, I'm down only 1 size, but I can attribute that to my LARGE rear end. My pants are way loose in the waist and thighs, but still fit comfortably in the behind.
Oh well, sooner or later I KNOW I'll be reporting that I'm wearing a size that's under 20 and eventually single digits.
I have to stay positive and know that won't be for quite a while, but talking about my goals will help me to achieve them,

Thanks everyone for your support and all the great recipes posted here. It's really been a God send.

((hugs))

Way to go!!!
I'm also looking forward to smaller sized clothes. I'm sick of being plus-sized. But you look like you're well on your way! Congratulations!!!

Congratulations on your success to date, you are doing a wonderful job!

Congrats you and DH are doing so well.

Good Job! It feels so wonderful when your close get looser. Keep it up!

Remember I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, I KNOW I CAN!!

Congratulations! Stick with it! I've thought about trying the Atkins diet but have been unsure of it?

Do you like it? I guess I'm just unsure of the unknown.....I've just been cutting the fat out of my diet.

Noel that is just AWESOME and I'm so happy for you!!!:jumping1: 20 pounds is a terrific accomplishment and shows just how motivated you are! Keep up the great work!

Thanks everyone!

And to mickeycw (Michelle) - yes I am enjoying Atkins.

I'll be honest the first 3-4 days on Atkins were awful. I was achy, had constant headaches and felt totally wiped out. On day 5 I felt so much better - had more energy and even could see my tummy starting to shrink.

I keep joking that Atkins has been one giant appetite suppressant for me. I am almost never hungry and the portions I do eat are small! Once you're on the plan and stick with it, you really don't have cravings for carbs anymore (granted I'd still love a bowl of spaghetti, but it'll be a looooong time before I do that, even with whole wheat pasta!)

I used to be a vegetarian - so eating meat still doesn't thrill me, and that's the bulk of what you get during phase 1 or "Induction"
But I'm creative and have found so many recipes here and on other low carb websites that it's not been boring and my DH has been thrilled with everything I've made.

I did not buy any of Dr Atkins' books because I already understand the principles of why eating this way works and www.atkins.com has wonderful information on it and outlines each phase of the plan.

Again, thanks everyone!

Congratulations to you!! We are all so proud of you! Keep up the great work! :)

WOW! How exciting and motivating for you (and for us)!

Keep it up, you're doing great. Don't forget to measure yourself. It is so rewarding to watch those measurements get smaller and smaller :)

CONGRATULATIONS:bounce:

i am just starting Atkins and inspiring storys like your will help keep me going

Noel, that is so wonderful, you should start to add clips to your signature, and the good thing is you dont have to bother with the 5 10 and 15 lost! go straight to 20. I look forward to changing my clip although, it has ben a while. I am in a stalling level. but great job! keep up the good work!

I'm so happy for you!! A few years ago I first went on Atkins. I was 291. The first two weeks I lost 14 lbs. I know that you know How great it felt. Everything you were saying in your post reminded me of myself back then . I was on it for a year and lost 120 lbs. You can do it too !!!!! You are already pumped up about it and feeling your efforts.
Unfortunatly I gained back 70 over the last three and 1/2 years.
I've been back on it for a little over a week and i've lost 8 lbs so far. I kick myself for not seeing that this is a way of life and to keep in tune with how great it feels to be in those smaller clothes and how great my body felt.
This time I will not make that mistake again.
I know you will do great!!!!! You have already!!!!!
Wait to you start hearing all those people saying how great you look and want to know all the details!!!!! That was also fun for me. Every day at work people would say... Ok how much are we down now?
Good luck and Keep on losing!!!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce: :hyper: :Pinkbounc :bounce:
