I cannot believe I did this!!!

I am completely distraught!! We check into BLT Wednesday for our first trip home and I completely forgot to call today to add the dining plan!!! I have our trips planned months in advance and I just never even put it on my calendar to call and add the dining plan! We have all of our ADR planned with our friends - but I really hadn't plan to pay as we go. Does DVC waiver on this rule at all or am I completely SOL?!?!?

I think you may actually make out without the dining plan. I was ABSOLUTELY CONVINCED that we saved money with the DP...until our trip last month. We tried without the DP and spent much less $$$ than we would have with DP!! Plus we didn't feel obligated to eat everything that comes with the DP, every single meal.

There are too many other things to think/worry about, don't let this get you down!!!

A few years ago, I forgot to add the DP to our trip. We were at VWL. When I checked in, and they said no DP, I could have cried. Kids were all <10 and it was when it was a great deal. They actually added it for me at check in. Good luck and hope it works out for you.

I believe the rules have recently changed regarding the DP. You used to be able to add it and pay for it upon check-in. Now you have to add it at least 48 hrs. before check-in and it has to be paid for at that time. I was just on the phone with MS the other day and the CM reminded me of this (we are arriving next Wednesday).

WE have done much better cost wise without the dining plan than we have with it. We've tracked it for several trips, and we save several hundred dollars paying out of pocket over the dining plan.

Do you happen to have annual passes? (or are you thinking about it?) If so, then you could get a TIW card which might be a better deal for you.

This happened to us this year. I didn't do it, either...we had a one night stay at BCV, and then were transferring the next day to AKV. We got on the phone the next morning, and by the time we got to AKV that night, we had the QSDP! Magic can happen.

DVC members have always been required to add the dining plan at least 48 hours out - you never could add it at check in. But they did recently change the payment for the plan. You now pay for it when you add it to your reservation instead of when you arrive.

This past summer, as we were driving down, I realized about 4 or 5 hours away from WDW, that I had not added the DP. I immediately called MS, & they added it to our reservation. No problem!

Two years ago, I booked a studio with the dining plan for a lawyer friend who helped with my wifes fathers estate (for free) . This was our way to repay him. When he got down there, he was informed that there was no dining plan reserved and that it could not be added on. He never told me about it until he got home. I phoned member services and asked why it was not added and they said that I never asked for it. They then went and listened to the phone conversation ( I did not know that they could do this), came back and apologized for the inconvenience and gave me 1 nights points and four 1 day park hopper passes.
