I Can See Epcot From Here! ~ A November Trip and Dining Report ~

Gooooood Morning!

Thank you so very much for posting this- I didn't get to see it yesterday and this morning it was a pleasure reading all about one of my favorite restaurants on property. :goodvibes I still want to try the Tonga toast- but I think I am going to make MC order it next time instead b/c I just cannot drag myself away from the dang macadamia pancakes.:lmao:

Thanks for the wonderful update! Now I'm hungry.
I can't wait to see more pics of the Poly.:lovestruc

::yes::

I'm glad my Kona update made your morning! :goodvibes You have got to try the Tonga Toast!! I can't believe you stayed at the Poly and didn't try it! DS9 likes it, so you know it has got to be good. :rotfl: He ate about a third of mine!

More Poly pics coming up soon! :yay:

I've seen that video of the dome about 732 times now. It's just ridiculous. They still don't know if they're going to be able to fix it for next Monday night's game. It's looking like we may get a couple more inches mid-week. Oh boy.

Oh, I could SO go for that breakfast right now!!! My toast did not compare.
I'm dying here - cold and hungry and trapped in an office with no windows (although who wants to look at 4 foot snow piles?). I'm going back to look at your pictures again!

Nope, toast here looking at 4 feet of snow does not compare to Tonga Toast at the Poly!!!!! :sad2:
I had 4 pages to catch up on and all I remember reading about Tonga Toast. Once I read those words I forgot all about everything else. :goodvibes

Oh now I remember...I had no idea there is a Harley store in DTD. DH would love it!

Tonga Toast :cloud9:

The Harley store is about half way down. I think it's on Pleasure Island. You should take your DH in there!

After breakfast we were off to explore the Poly! I just love the feeling and atmosphere there. Next time we go deluxe I am thinking it will definitely be at the Poly. :lovestruc We browsed the gift shops then went out to the pool area. There were a few people swimming and one duck! It was still pretty chilly. Then we went out and sat on the beach for awhile.

After spending about an hour on the beach we decided it was time to head to the GF to see them building the gingerbread house, like we had last year. Last year, the same exact week we got to watch them making the gingerbread house and sample some gingerbread. DS9 was so looking forward to this!

But unfortunately they had barely begun to build it and there was no gingerbread in sight. :sad2: It was very disappointing.

So we didn't spend much time there. We got back on the monorail and took it to MK and then got on the BWI bus. We were going back to the BWI to just relax for the afternoon since we were going to MVMCP that evening, but the kids didn't know it yet!!

Up Next: Back to the BWI and telling the kids about MVMCP! :santa:

The Poly is so pretty! :) What a bummer about the gingerbread house. Did you hopefully get back when there was more progress before you left?

Just finished reading all of the TR so far! :) It's great! :) I'm glad that you enjoy Kona so much! :) It's a family favorite and we love going there! That's a bummer about the gingerbread house though :( Hopefully you got a chance to see more of it before you went home! Can't wait for your kids' reactions to MVMCP!!!!

I know, I love the Poly! :lovestruc

We had all intentions of getting back to the GF later in the week, but it just didn't happen.

Thanks! :goodvibes

Kona sure is great! Yeah, the gingerbread house sure was a real bummer and we never did make it back later but that's okay, we saw some really cool things at MVMCP! :santa:

The Poly looks gorgeous! We have never really taken the time to explore there. You got some great pictures. Can't wait to hear about the kids reaction to the MVMCP surprise!

Tonga Toast :cloud9:

The Harley store is about half way down. I think it's on Pleasure Island. You should take your DH in there!
Maybe I shouldn't. He'll want to drive one home!!! :scared1:

Bummer about the gingerbread house. :sad2:
Poly is my dream someday! It has everything to spoil me- monorail, pools, great food, tropical atmosphere- trouble is that it comes with a hefty pricetag to go along with all those great things! :headache: I guess I'll stick with my tropical substitute for now- CBR :cloud9:

Shelly - GREAT pics..... i would also like to stay in Poly.... it looks really nice..... we'll see what happens.... Can't wait to hear more.....

Kim - I agree with you on this one.... I would love Poly but ill stick to CBR for a lil longer....

TONGA TOAST is so YUMMY! DH is making it for Christmas Breakfast. He finds it quite simple to make, and actually his version is yummier, more homemade tasting, I highly recommend anyone attempt to make this!

I Love the Poly too... so sad we cancelled our october trip, but the price was just not sitting well with us... and then of course the family then is upset so we book for Jan once again! We still get our tropics with CBR!

Darn the GF not having had more of the Gingerbread house up, I know you guys stayed there for a while last year watching, I would have been upset too. Love the pics of the Poly, I have only been there once and at night for the Aloha Dinner Show, DH did not care for it, but I think it is lovely especially all the tiki lighting as you walk around.

When we decided to go to one of the monorail resorts next year instead of the Beach Club, DH did surprise me by saying he would stay at Poly if I wanted, I really want to stay at all three ,now if i could only win the lottery :rotfl:

Can not wait to see when you surprise your boys about the MVMCP and see and read all about it.:santa:

Breakfast looks delicious - Kona is definitely going on my list to try. I hate the GF house wasn't ready. That stinks your boys were disappointed. At least you had a good surprise to take their minds off it later!

popcorn:: joining in. my DH and i were there the same week as you were but we stayed at the BC. The weather was definitely unusual for that time of year!! popcorn::

That was a cute picture of the duck in the pool!
I'm with you, the Poly is my dream resort, & I would love to stay there one day.
Too bad they had not started on the gingerbread yet. It looks pretty neat by looking at your pictures.

Kona looks so good! I love that you don't have anything lined up until 10:15. Whenever we have breakfast ADRs I make them at 8 so that we can still hit the parks early. One of these days I'll relax a little more, but it is hard when there is so much to do. DH doesn't seem to understand that if he would just agree to go back every year I wouldn't force him to wake up early everyday.

Kona breakfast is high on my must try list, although I am thinking I may save it for a future trip when we stay at the Poly (I can dream, right?)

Poly pics, Poly pics, oh how I love the Poly pics.;)
Sigh.
Looks like home to me.

Okay, see the picture of the beach where the Hawaii bldg is on your right? It's the last picture you posted of the Poly before you headed to the GF. See on the Left hand side of the picture way the heck down- almost out of the picture-- that hammock there?
That's MY hammock!:lmao: That's the one I was lying in talking to you on the phone--:rotfl2: I cannot wait to get there again.

I hope that one day you get to stay there too. I just know you will love it as much as I do. Then we'll have Kona, BRG, CBR and the Poly too.:lmao: Did I leave any out????/:rotfl:

I don't understand why the GF hadn't started the Gingerbread house when you were there. Poor DS9. Okay, you have to get these for him- for Christmas since I know he likes Gingerbread. GE may have them but they are hard to find sometimes. I just got a big box of them from Target.

They are the best cookies and I think he'd like them- Belle likes them so I'm sure he would.:rolleyes1 (And yeah- the Tonga toast she would love if he likes it.:lmao: Match made in heaven I swear.)

Can't wait for pics of the MVMCP---
thanks for this update- it was great!:goodvibes

I think a split stay at CBR and the Poly would be awesome!! :cool1:

Wow you are lucky!! What a great DH! :goodvibes I was going to try to make it at home but figured it just wouldn't be the same.

I really hope you love CBR!! :wizard:

Yeah, last year the gingerbread house was nearly done when we visited. It was so neat to see them making it. What a bummer this year! :sad2:

I know what you mean! It would be so great to stay at each monorail resort! ::yes::

Breakfast looks delicious - Kona is definitely going on my list to try. I hate the GF house wasn't ready. That stinks your boys were disappointed. At least you had a good surprise to take their minds off it later!

Breakfast at Kona was awesome, I highly recommend it! :thumbsup2

Yeah, the boys were disappointed about the gingerbread house. Especially DS9. But they got over it pretty quickly with all that was going on!

popcorn:: joining in. my DH and i were there the same week as you were but we stayed at the BC. The weather was definitely unusual for that time of year!! popcorn::

Welcome! :goodvibes

We probably crossed paths at some point! Yes, that weather was crazy for early November!

Hope you enjoy the TR!

That was a cute picture of the duck in the pool!

I hope you get to stay at the Poly one day too. If you liked CBR, you would love the Poly!

I'll have to dig up last years gingerbread house pictures and show everyone. It was pretty cool!

You should try the relaxed approach! :thumbsup2 Ever since I did DH has taken me back every year!! He just couldn't stand the go-go-go trips. I just had to learn to relax and realize that we couldn't do it all and that it would still be there the next time!

Going to breakfast at Kona would be a definite benefit of staying at the Poly! :cloud9:
Poly pics, Poly pics, oh how I love the Poly pics.;)

I do see that hammock! :yay: You know, when we were there I was wondering which hammock was yours!!

Yep - Kona, BRG, CBR, and the Poly! ::yes:: The only things we agree on at WDW! :rotfl:

Oooohhh I'll have to look for those at Target. Hard to tell if he'd like them or not. Probably though, since Belle does! After we got back from WDW last year and he had his new found love for gingerbread because of the gingerbread samples at the GF, I got him this huge gingerbread cookie from our grocery store bakery and he hated it! :upsidedow:confused3 Oh that kid!
