I Can See Epcot From Here! ~ A November Trip and Dining Report ~

Awesome start Shelly!! I was :rotfl: at your DH not knowing the resort!

Your boys have changed so much over the last couple years! WOW!
1400 pics? Yikes! I don't think I took that many on two trips combined including the Christmas time one!!!
I'm eager to see them! Especially your BWI pics!

Holy Toledo you can't be serious--------- he forgot which resort!?!

That is just classic!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Poor guy. I bet you didn't let him forget it either.

Great pics! :goodvibes

Yes, he forgot the resort. After all that. He claims it was only for a moment. :rotfl:
1400 pictures???

:faint:
Beats the 4 I took that one year.:lmao:

Between my pics, the ones the kids took with my old camera, and the photopass pics (when they get here), I bet there are close to 1500. ::yes::

I remember when you took 4. :faint:

Yahoo! I'm here too...........wanted to say Hi , now heading back to the beginning to read :)

Welcome Sheila! :goodvibes

Yay! I made page one!!! Love that he forgot...wanna know how many things Mike asked me that I KNOW he knew and forgot?!! It's a man thing. Which is why I am so surprised by the men that are on these boards planning trips for their families!!! But, Mike might do more if I wasn't so consumed with it! probabaly not, but I can dream..and do I see me letting go of the Vacation planning reigns? Not any time soon!! ha!!!

My DH does that on vacation too - asks me 50 questions about things that I KNOW I already told him about, several times. :crazy2:

But I agree, I would never hand all the planning over to him. So I'll just have to deal with him 'forgetting' things! :rotfl:

Hi Shelly! You're off to a great start...can't wait for more! I hope that you had a great Thanksgiving.

Welcome Lauren! :)

We had a very nice Thanksgiving. I hope your family did too!

Ha Ha  Leave it to the DH not to remember the resort, Yours sounds just like mine but you know I think mine is going to remember this next trip, I said something yesterday about since we are going to do the DxDP this time I am going to make and ADR at the Morocco restaurant he has always wanted to try and he said to me we are staying at the Contempory? Now will he remember in 10+ months that remains to be seen.

You guys lucked out only having to stop at 2 resorts on the ME this trip and getting to BW so quickly

You'll have to let me know if your DH still remembers the resort in 10 months!

Yep, our ME trip was quick! :cool1:

There were only a few people ahead of us in the check in line and we were taken care of in no time.

Unfortunately our room was not ready. This was the first time this had ever happened to us. I was kind of bummed, but we were finally at the BW so all was well. They said we would get a voicemail when our room was ready, but couldn't tell us when that would be or where our room would be. Yes, I asked! We stored our luggage with Bell Services and headed to Epcot for some lunch. Our first of many walks to Epcot.

Epcot was packed. Wall to wall people. I figured it was because it was a weekend and the F&W Festival was going on. I hoped that the crowds would thin out through the week, but I am sad to say that they never did. I don't think we will be going again during the F&WF again anytime soon. It really took away from Epcot for us. But more on that later.

We were very hungry and the closest CS place we could think of to the back entrance of Epcot was Bounlangerie Patisserie. We had been there two times previously. One time was bad and the other time was good. This time was somewhere in the middle. I think mostly because there was nowhere to sit inside or out. We finally found a little bench and it was freezing out and it just wasn't the most pleasant of experiences. And unfortunately that's pretty much how the rest of our day went.

I had the Ham & Cheese Croissant. DH had the Ham & Cheese Sandwich. And the kids had Croissants with chocolate in them. I know, real nice lunch for the kids, right?

Sorry for the lack of pictures of our lunch, but it was so cold and we didn't have a table and it just wasn't a real fun time. The food was okay, but nothing great. We will probably skip this place the next time.

Our total bill: $20.13
Rating: 2.5 out of 5

Thanks Sheree! :goodvibes

I know, the boys are turning into young men.

I hope you enjoy all the pics!!

Joining in. I love your trip and dining reports. You really do take pictures of everything which is very appreciated!

I saw your BWI review a few days ago and it was great. I would love to stay there someday. We will be doing a split stay next trip between VWL and BCV, but I keep wishing it BWV had been available. Maybe next time.

I can't wait to hear how you liked OOP vs the DDP. I've decided to do OOP since we will be at Universal for 2 days and Discovery Cove for a day. It makes sense to just buy a gift card for the amount of the dining plan and I am certain we will spend less on food, but I have this fear that I will be looking at the prices much more than if I was on the ddp.

Joining! We leave for our first-ever stay at BWV in just 10 days to celebrate my 25th Disney trip!

I'm in :thumbsup2
Already 2 pages in, now to go back and read!

Thank you Shelly again for sharing your trip with us!

Welcome! I'm so glad you have enjoyed my previous reports. I hope you enjoy this one too!

A Split stay between VWL & BCV sounds wonderful. :cloud9:

I think that makes sense for you to pay OOP since you will be off-site a few days. Yes, be sure to get a WDW gift card, it makes paying OOP very convenient. :thumbsup2 We decided going in that we were going to order what we wanted even though we were paying OOP and try not to look at the prices. The only thing we did differently is order water with our meals. When we were on the DDP I would normally order a lemonade or a Sprite and DH would order an iced tea, only because they were included. When we go out to eat at home we almost always order water. So it wasn't too hard to do it there. I bet we saved around $100 by doing that all week!

Welcome!

I hope you enjoy your time on the BW. Happy Anniversary! :lovestruc

Welcome Joanne! :goodvibes So glad you are here!!

I'm in!

Too bad Epcot was so crowded. That really does put a damper on things. I'll never know how people can go and enjoy themselves during the crowds of summer and holidays. It just makes it miserable to me. I hope you had better luck at the other parks.

And btw, my husband also has conversational amnesia. We can discuss something in GREAT detail and he will ask me about it later as if he wasn't even part of the earlier conversation. I'll never understand it!

Hi, I'm joining! I don't know how I missed your PTR, since I when I started mine in May I was on the lookout for people going around the same time as me, I was there from 11/12-11/20, so our trips overlapped by a few days! :thumbsup2

Your DH sounds just like mine, all I talk about for months is where we are staying, what we are doing, and he can never remember! Even when we were there, CM's would ask where we are staying and he'd go "uhhh..." and look at me for help! :rotfl:

Can't wait to hear about BWI, I was considering renting points from a DVC member for next year's trip, but I'm too afraid it's too risky! But I'm like you, I love Epcot, my favorite park and being able to walk there is great! I'd love to stay at the Poly someday too!

Can't wait to read more, and check out my TR if you get a chance, there is a link in my signature!

Yippee!! :yay: I've been waiting for this TR! A little late to the party, but I'm in. OK, now a question from a DD (Disney dummy). I always see where people say they're "subscribing" to a thread. What exactly does that mean and how do you do it? Anyone, feel free to help out this poor lost soul.

Shelly, I can already tell that I'm going to love your TR. You always include the details that everyone is interested in and also the best and most pictures! So you're off to a great start. :thumbsup2

I love how you have pictures from the very start of the trip. Looking at the pic from out of the plane window when it was still at the gate and dark outside almost gave me the jitters. :scared1: I hate to fly and felt like I was about to take off myself! Not that I wouldn't have loved to be going, but the getting there part I can do without. In the pic of you and DS11 in the plane, he reminds me so much of a young Leif Garrett in his teen heartthrob days! Now that was back in the 70's, so some of you may not have a clue who I'm talking about! If you look him up, be sure to look at the old pics and not current ones!

Too funny that your DH forgot where he was staying! :rotfl: My DH is very much the same, though. So many times when our phone rings, he will look at the caller ID and say, "Who is 938.......?" And I say, "DD!! How can you not know her number by now?" She has had that phone number for almost 10 years (since she first got a cell phone) and the even scarier thing is that it was our cell number before that! So I know just where you're coming from. ;) I'm like Disney Mommy 3 (Shawna) - it always surprises me that there are men who plan the trips in their family. In some ways I would like that, but in some ways I'm glad my DH leaves it to me!

It's a shame that your weather started off so cold (for Florida ;)) It looked like beautiful weather, though! I'm glad things warmed up later in the week.

I'm anxious to hear how you liked not being on the DDP. I can certainly understand you not getting it with in-between age kids, so it'll be interesting to hear how that went.

Looking forward to more!

Thanks, Tink! :goodvibes I did it! I'm a little confused, though. When I went to my UserCP page, I clicked on "Subscriptions" and apparently I have subscribed to a good many threads! Do you automatically subscribe if you've posted to a thread? I don't know how else I've subscribed, cause I sure didn't know I was doing it! :rotfl2: I don't get any notifications, so I don't really know what the purpose to subscribing is. Too much to figure out! :headache:

It is not that way for me I have to physically subscribe and when I log on click on user CP that is my notification

Welcome!

Yes, the Epcot crowds were a real bummer. Especially when we were not expecting it, thinking that it would be like last year.

Conversational amnesia!! I know exactly what you mean.

Welcome!

That is so cool that our trips overlapped! I hope your week got slower after the weekend you arrived. It was probably pretty busy that weekend with the F&WF and the Festival of the Masters.

I have thought about renting DVC points too, but like you I am too scared!

I just subscribed to your TR!

YAY Teri's here!! :cool1: So glad you could join us. I hope you enjoy!

Okay, so I had no idea who Leif Garrett was and had to go look. You are right, DS does look a bit like him in the face. That is weird!

I think the reason men don't remember anything is because they know we will do it for them!!:rotfl:

Our week did warm up after a few days, but we sure didn't bring enough long sleeves and warmer clothes for those first few days. :sad2: And we needed jeans all but one evening. It sure wasn't like last year!

I can't wait to tell you all about not being on the DDP! Lots more to come! :yay:

Well at least I'm on the right track! Technology. :headache: But I am cyber Monday shopping right now. ;)

Thanks again! :)

Did you get anything good today? popcorn::

As soon as we were done eating we headed to Soarin expecting the line to be somewhat long and planning to get fastpasses for later. Well, the line was something like 90 minutes and the fastpasses were gone for the day. It was noon. Couldn't believe it. :sad2: We went to the Wait Time Board near the Land and saw that the wait for TT wasn't much shorter. We were bummed.

Again, sorry for the lack of pictures during our walk to the Land. It was so cold out!! :cold: I remember walking through Epcot and the wind blowing in my face and being SO VERY COLD and wondering why. It was probably about 60 degrees by now. And 60 degrees in PA in November is a warm day. I don't know how to explain it, but that wind was so bitter cold and I think the humidity down there makes it seem colder. :confused3 It sure wasn't pleasant!

So anyway – we headed to the Seas. :fish: We rode Nemo after about a 10 minute wait, then took our time in the Seas building. That was the first time we had ever been upstairs in there. It was pretty neat. Then we went downstairs and waited for Turtle Talk to start. This was also a first for us. It was really cute! I wish we would have done it when the kids were younger.

After that we headed to Figment. That ride is always just okay. Kind of boring! The kids had more fun in the building after the ride!

Next up was Captain EO. I just had to see what all the hype was about. I'm sorry to say that may have been one of the dumbest things I have ever seen. No offense to anyone who loves it. I guess I just didn't get it. And it was SO LOUD!! :scared1: So very loud. Luckily I had taken Excedrin and Sudafed to avoid a headache on the plane. Otherwise that show would have put me into a full blown migraine.

We left there a little hard of hearing and a little confused. Even the kids didn't enjoy it.

They were ready to head to Spaceship Earth next!

Up Next: Spaceship Earth and our room is ready!
