I have expired Disneyland tickets from 2020. When I called customer service about applying them to new tickets for this July, they told me that I have to buy new tickets online and then mail back the old tickets to get a refund. But I just went online to purchase the new tickets and realized that I can only pick dates up until June 25. Is there a way around this? Or do I really have to wait a few more weeks?

If you buy them online, you have to pick your park to reserve at the same time. The park reservation system only goes 120 days out. If you buy through a 3rd party, there's no restriction as you are buying existing tickets. You just have to load the tickets into your Disneyland app with a barcode/number, create a party, and then pick the parks to reserve when the dates you plan to go are available.

If you're needing to do a refund, I guess you're stuck with what Disney is requiring you to do.

I'm hesitant to book through a 3rd party as that is why I am having to go through all of this trouble in the first place. If I had purchased through Disney, I guess they could have just applied the tickets. But since I bought through a 3rd party, I have to repurchase and then mail back the original tickets and wait 6-8 weeks for a refund. Boo!

You should be able to just pick some random dates (I’d just go as far out as possible), buy the tickets, and then change the park reservation dates when the ones you want open up. As far as I know, the ticket isn’t locked in to a specific date, and isn’t considered “used” until it’s actually scanned into the park…

This is exactly right.
1) buy tickets with a fake reservation date.
2) immediately cancel reservations.
3) as soon as your date window opens up, make new reservations.

This is what I did and it worked just fine.
