DD wanted the two of us to get pedicures together. While I happily took her and sat next to her while she had it done, there is no way I can ever let a stranger touch my feet and dd was a bit mystified by this fact. :lmao: It totally creeps me out.

I can't be the only one with this weird little quirk, can I?

I am sooooo not a feet person but I LOVE getting pedicures. I get one every 2 weeks and love it. However, no one but my pedicurist better EVER touch my feet. Feet are nasty! And if you sleep with me, keep your feet on your side of the bed. :lmao:

The idea of a pedicure totally freaked me out for YEARS -- until I sucked it up and finally got one done.

Heavenly!

You should give it a shot. It's nowhere near as bad as you think it'll be.

I'm a feet hater. I think all feet are so ugly, especially mine. I never had a pedicure thinking I could never let anyone touch my feet like that. Then I got a gift certificate so I tried it. OH MY! Now I'm a regular in summer weather!! It's worth every penny.

I'm didn't used to be too weirded out by a pedicure. I finally went a had one done. At a very NICE place. It was just okay. I don't get the whole "oh my god it was so wonderful" feeling. The polish they used was very nice and stayed on quite well for 3 weeks.

Then about a week after the polish was removed, one of my toenails looked a tad funny (the big toe). Yep, I had gotten a toenail fungus (the tech had clipped/file very close to the nail on that toe). I was 38 years old at the time--NEVER had a fungus--and then I struggled with that for months.

Needless to say, I will never have another pedicure even though my home polish jobs are horrible!

My feet are so extremely ticklish that I have to concentrate on other things when I get a pedicure. Even then I still jump and squirm.

I have this same problem. Also, mine are sensitive at the sides of the nail and it hurts a little when they shape the nail. I just don't like that feeling. I only have had a pedicure twice. Neither time I liked it very much. I have become an expert at doing my own. Manicure I do every two weeks though!

This is one reason I can't stand to have anyone touch my feet because I am extremely ticklish. The other is because of stories like Christine's. :rotfl: I'm glad you all enjoy the experience but I don't think I'll be getting one any time soon.

Dh took several reflexology classes and gives fabulous foot rubs. It took me several months before I'd let him touch my feet. :rotfl: He was not at all surprised to hear about my pedicure issues.

I just had one on Saturday. I had the full spa pedicure including the whirlpool foot bath, exfoliating and massage. It was great. I am more than a bit ticklish though, so I had to really concentrate on reading a magazine so I wouldn't be too jumpy.

I love the place that I go because they have individually wrapped files and sticks that they use so each customer gets there own, which they give you when they are done using them so you know they aren't going to try to fudge it. And all of their metal tools are soaked in barbicide when not in use so everything is sterile.

My MIL was like this until I convinced her to get a pedicure a few years ago, now she is addicted :lmao:

As far as the fungus, your tech should always use new files and/or keep a set of files for each customer, I wouldn't go anywhere that re-used files, icky. :sad2:

I have a huge problem with feet and finally my friend/hairdresser talked me into letting her do my first pedicure. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was, but I would never let a stranger touch my feet. I have even went to the mall, stood in front of the nail place and panicked. My feet are super ticklish and I don't like feet. I really don't like feet, I have a problem trimming my toenails as well as my childrens.

youre not alone. TOTALLY not my thing either!

And dont get me started about going somewhere for a massage! I am a real touchy feely person with everyone I know but I could never go somewhere and get a massage from a stranger. Just not happening!

Well, first I tried the Lamisil, which was awful and scary and I had to stop it after a month.

Then I walked around miserable and embarrassed. It got really bad. I finally went back to the podiatrist who had prescribed the Lamisil and he said the "best" cure was actually toenail removal. I did that and haven't had anothe problem in over 5 years.

I watched her pull them out of the "autoclave" and they had been sterilized. She even cleaned the whirlpool tub in front of me.

I think her "roughness" around the edge of my toenail caused a minor break in the skin and then the fungus, etc. was able to take hold.

:scared: :earseek:

My friend will NEVER get a pedicure. She can't stand nail clippers or people touching her feet. She bites her toenails. Don't ask.

Before I got my first pedicure, this is what I thought! My feet are very tickilish and I HATE feet. I hate looking at feet, I hate touching feet. But I wanted my toes to look cute for beach season- I now get one once or twice a month!

I love pedicures. Oddly enough though I don't like strangers touching me. I'll never be able to get a massge unless its a hot rock massage because some stranger touching me gives me the heebi jeebies.
