We are DVC too, but we still stay in regular resorts somtimes. I must say, when I go DVC, I do miss the clean towels and straightend room each day. I am a slob, so housekeeping is a nice thing for me!! Any money or credit cards always go in the safe!!

I HATE HOUSEKEEPING being in my room! I always leave the privacy notice on my door. I'm DVC too so it's really a non-issue, but when we stay in regular hotels I prefer my PRIVACY!!!

I would miss having my bed made, the clean towels, waste baskets being emptied and those cute little towel animals we usually receive. I never turn away mousekeeping.

I always straighten the beds and have most things put away but it is always nice to get "home" and the beds are all made and the floor vacuumed

Having your room cleaned is one of the pleasures of being on vacation. No beds to make-up, no bathroom to clean, etc.

I loooove housekeeping! We're two tidy adults, so there is never a mess to clean up, but having a sparkling bathroom, fresh towels and a made up bed is wonderful. I leave any valuables in the safe (not that I travel with much, but the return plane tickets, passports if needed, things like that), and I don't worry that someone will steal my other stuff. I do put away the toothbrushes, because I'd hate for someone to touch them

And at home, I love Tuesdays because that's the day the housekeeper comes in to clean!

I have no secrets--not because I'm particularly private, but because I'm particularly boring!

My family always laughs at me because I clean for the maid, but I do love Mousekeeping! I love coming back to a nice clean room and with the kids the room almost always needs to be vacummed and I can never make the beds as nice as they do!

A couple of times our room has gotten skipped for whatever reason and it didn't really bother me, but I don't think I'd ever tell them not to clean it.

My SIL flipped out one time because their room didn't get cleaned for some reason. Honest mistake, I think, but when she got back to the room at 9pm and it wasn't cleaned, she was SO mad! She made them come and do it that night! My brother tried to talk her out of it, saying it could wait til the next day, but she was furious and wanted it done!

I'm also not a fan of housekeeping. Ever since I came upon the housekeepers at CR swabbing out our bathroom sink with a dirty mop, I figure we're not getting as "squeaky clean" as we might think! Plus, I just hate having to "work around" whether or not housekeeping has shown up or not if we want to go back to the room for a mid-day break.

Actually, now that we own DVC we almost always refuse trash & towel day. I have no problem throwing a load of towels in the washer and dh takes out the trash whenever necessary.

I LOVE housekeeping! That's one of my main reasons for going on vacation, a chance to have someone clean up besides me.

I love mousekeeping also.It's so nice just getting up and heading to the parks without having to make the beds.

Do you just leave your "do not disturb" sign up? Or do you actually notify the front desk that you would prefer no housekeeping? I'm not a big fan of the housekeeping, either, but I don't have anything anyone would want to steal so I usually just let them come in! Plus, maybe some day I'll get a towel animal!

Both, we leave the sign out and notify Housekeeping so they can mark the room off their list.

I enjoy Mousekeeping as I am the only one who cleans around here but I am conscious of how hard a job it is and make sure I do not make any messes, other than a rumbled bed.

I so enjoy coming back to the room and finding the bed made by someone other than myself.

If however, we want to sleep late one day or something I will tell them to skip the room as I do not want to keep someone from going home when they are supposed to.

BTW, the Mousekeepers have a key to the room and can come in if they want to and I am of the impression that they are required to check rooms once in awhle even if people do not want them in the room in case something is going on that should not. I have not read of much , if anything, ever being stolen from a room at DW.

What if there was a different rate for rooms if you did not have housekeeping? I think I could get my own towels and make my own bed if there was a substantial cost difference. Just a thought.

Actually DVC sort of works that way. If you want daily housekeeping, it's $25 per day for a studio. This way members dues are kept down and only those who want housekeeping pay for it.

We always stay in a DVC 1 bedroom and I've never missed the housekeeping.

I guess I'm just weird...

I always make the beds and place a note on the beds for the housekeeper that says, "Please leave the beds as they are. Thank you!"

I just don't want to deal with taking off the bedspread every night.

I also take all the wet towels and toss them in the bathtub, tie up the trash and place our toothbrushes brush side down in a cup.

We have our children pick up any miscellaneous toys and things lying around prior to leaving the room.

On days we want the sheets changed, I strip the beds and lay the dirty sheets on the mattress. I also do this upon departure.

I would think the housekeeping staff loves our clean and easy to clean room, but we still tip them $1 per person per day.

There is no way I would pass on fresh clean sheets every day and the room cleaned 3 times per day......and chocolates and tomorrow's weather report on my pillow, It's nice to come back and find the ice bucket filled and the fridge restocked.

I have never had a problem with housekeeping at any hotel any where in the world. I have never had anything stolen, and I think they have better things to do than look thru your stuff. I mean c'omon...do you really think anyone wants to find your underwear drawer

I have also forgotten to lock up jewelery before going out and have found it exactly where I left it.

We are pretty neat anyway, but I would never pass it up.
