Seriously think I'm going to be going to Disney week after next ALL BY MYSELF. I have never done this before, but walking around Epcot and looking at my own pace without being asked to buy things or referee arguments between my four sons has always sounded appealing to me. I think that eating where I want to without worrying if they have chicken fingers will be wonderful, lol.

I am a teacher and only have about 2 1/2 weeks until going back, plus I am now starting a year long masters degree program, so I'm thinking a solo trip will be a great way to kick off a VERY busy year.

My question is has anyone else visited The Mouse alone? Any tips? Did you regret your trip? Thanks in advance for any input.

Perhaps respost and scroll the "Disney for Adults and Solo Travelers" forum.

Or perhaps just answer the question ...

Sooo answering your question, I have and it's fun. I don't regret it at all. Did what I wanted, when I wanted. Have fun!

I went solo in December 2006 and had the time of my life. It was easier to get on rides and attractions because they're always looking for an extra person to fill seats, and I had the freedom to do exactly as I pleased whenever I wanted, even if it was just sitting on a bench and people watching.

One thing I did was to keep a Vacation Journal. I carried a notebook and pen in my bag and every so often I'd find a bench and write in it. I'd write about what I did, things that happened to me, people I met, and things I still wanted to do. It's my favorite 'souvenir' of all my trips. :thumbsup2

Thanks guys! And I didn't even realize there was a board for solo travelers. Been coming here since 2002 and never even noticed it. Guess because I had no need for it, lol.

Glad to hear you loved it..That's encouraging :)...and I LOVE the journal idea

I do it frequently.
Never regret it.

I will say, as someone who for one reason or another travels all over the place alone a LOT, WDW is very, very friendly to solo (and particularly, solo female) guests.

I spent one glorious day all alone at Epcot. I was down on business, so extended a day, treated myself to a night at BWI, and spent a day wandering through World Showcase. It was wonderful. I've been on two trips that I left the kids behind and went with a friend. We had a blast. I'm hoping my kids will want to sleep in one morning on our August trip and I can sneak over to a park for a few hours alone. I've always been kind of a loner - I enjoy my trips with the kids, but being on my own doesn't bother me a bit. I travel quite a bit for work, so I am used to eating alone, going to the movies alone, etc. I think you should do it and you'll have a great time!

After my divorce from a very rough marriage years ago, I took an 8 day trip solo. I never regret it. It really gave me the boost I needed at a very difficult time in my life and helped me to put some of the 'magic' back in my life.

It's one of the reason Disney remains so special to me to this day.

Which was my reason for posting, although another poster didn't seem to think so. Good luck.

It's okay.. no harm, no foul...everybody be happy...I'm GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!! :cool1:

I haven't done it by myself per say but someday I will. The closest I've come to it was the last time I was down with my mom and she got sick when we were in the parks and she let me stay there by myself. I was like 15 or 16 then. I enjoyed myself and I always made it back to the hotel okay. The only thing is you have no one to share with.

I think it was a very good idea to post what you did. I'm sure the OP can glean a wealth of ideas from that board, in addition to what she gets here.

I also think the journal idea is an excellent one. I've kept travel journals for many years, and those (plus the photos I take) are THE BEST souvenirs! Especially good as a reference when multiple trips start to run together in your memory. When I'm solo I like to do my writing during my meals (between courses, of course) or when relaxing by the pool.

Not true. It just came across kinda rude. I would have answered the question then let her know there was a solo board.

Good old Internet.. Can't tell people's tones. No issues here :)

I've always wondered about that part. Who would I have to laugh with or take pictures?

But then on our last trip I had some time to myself in Epcot (parents went to visit a resort). I did a few rides solo, looked around, shopped....I had a really good time! Not sure if I could do a whole week or anything that long by myself, but realized I definitely could do a couple days on my own in WDW!

I thought the same thing but I text by cousin alot cause she loves disney too. But there's always somebody to take your picture!

Did this for the first time ever towards the end of 2011 and I LOVED it!!!!! Check out the trip report in my signature (it's 7/8 done, I got sidetracked and when I came back to it, it had been moved to the 'completed reports' section!) to see how it went!

It was a trip of firsts for me:

first solo WDW trip
first Disney race (Inaugural ToT 10 Miler)
first MNSSHP
first F&W Festival

:goodvibes

I have done the parks by myself. It's a lot of fun and I can do what I want when I want. I don't have to listen to anyone complain about an attraction or a shop they don't want to do. :thumbsup2
