and the customer service rep. (who wasn't very nice, btw) said you have to have a postcard in order to get the credit. I asked her if I could just give her the code and she said no. She said the $50 credit was only for the 7 day, the 4 day gets $25. Has this been anyone else's experience? Were you able to just give the code over the phone? I booked my cruise back in July through Disney. I also requested another room (my current room is 8036..which I posted about in another thread), but she said they were all taken.

Our first cruise- May 4th, 2003 (Wonder)

Yes, I have heard of it being hard to get that credit thru DCL... Seems like somebody just recently posted that they had extra cards??? And, yes, it is only $25.00 for the 4-day.

We booked thru DU.... and they got us that credit, AND the room I wanted!!!! :D A good TA can be invaluable!!!

Amymomof3...I sent you a private message.

I called on friday and didnt even have the code. I told her it was a shipboard credit for first time cruisers. she looked it up and told me she applied a referral code for $50. she was very helpful.

you may want o call back and hopefully get a different rep.

we are doign the 7 day on 3/8/03.

I finally bugged our TA enough that she got the right person at DCL and was told we also now have the credit. My worry is this--will it be there when we cruise? I have no record other than my TA telling me that DCL was applying it. Were you assured in any way (i.e. written confirmation, etc?) In our case this will amount to $100 as we have 2 rooms booked.

thanks :D

About the second day of the cruise, we recieved a note under the door confirming that we had recieved the $50.00 credit.

I had planned to check for the credit at checkin, but I forgot.

Our total ship-board bill was about $1000.00 so $50.00 isn't much, but every bit helps. I think our bill was about average, since we didn't buy anything extravagant.

I'm definately going to call Disney back and talk to a different (hopefully more helpful) rep.
Thanks to all that responded!

Get something in writing from your TA. I had to show DCL an e-mail from Dreams Unlimited to prove that I was supposed to have the credit. It wasn't on my account when I boarded.

I booked directly through dcl. I did not receive any written confirmation. I will have to double check when I board as well. The rep was so nice about looking it up and applying it that it didn't have any concerns.

I made a photocopy of the card(front and back) before I mailed it in. After I got the certificate/letter back in the mail with the video, I attached the copies together and took them with me. I never needed it though, the credits were already listed for both cabins. (After I got the letter I called to TA to have the code applied, as the letter instructed.)

We called DCL directly and gave them the code, and got the $25 credit (4 day cruise). I too have had the experience that it absolutely depends on which rep you get.

Last year, I made reservations for 11 for a WDW on-site vacation. I called back with a question, and spoke to a rep who had a terrible attitutde, and made me feel extremely stupid. He put me on hold for lengthy periods twice, then eventually just hung up on me.

I emailed Disney through their websit customer service. About 5 days later, I received a call from a personal vacation planner, who answered all of my questions, apologized profusely, and gave us VIP viewing passes for Illuminations. She said that it is important if you have a bad experience with a Disney rep, to let them know-they are known for their customer service.

So, you can call and get another rep, but also drop them a note!

On our first cruise, I messed up and didn't do the postcard thing correctly. When I check on board I didn't have the credit. I wrote to DCL, explained how I messed up. They then sent me a $50 credit certificate for our next cruise. I had booked another cruise,
thereby getting the $50 Castaway Club credit, plus had a $25 on board credit from the TA. I presented the certificate when I went on board, and was told that I had the $75 credit. It took me awhile, without being rude, to explain what the certificate was. The CM went back and forth to the back room, then after about 10 minutes stated, that it would be taken care of within 24-48 hours. The next day I received a phone call from a different CM stating that the credit was approved and I now had $125 ship board credit. Later that day, the orginal CM I had spoken to called just to make sure that I had received the phone call regarding the approval.
So, they do take care of these items.
