I was just getting back into the whole WW and excersizing stuff and now I went and broke my left foot! (slipped on ice in the driveway) So I now have a walking cast on for 4 weeks. I can still walk but not as much as I would like to. Plus we are starting a corporate challenge at work on Sunday. For 8 weeks we have to record our steps for each day (we all got free pedometers) and we are supposed to strive for 5 servings of fruit/veggies...we also have to record those each day. Whichever store has the highest totals after 8 weeks wins all kinds of prizes. It's called "Eat Well Live Well" Last year our store manager took on the challenge and continued after the 8 weeks and dropped over 60 pounds...so he has inspired alot of us to sign up this year, myself included. I already told them my walking totals will stink but I'm still doing it. (the goal is 10,000 steps a day)

WOW! what a bummer, what timing! so this is where I say, everything happens for a reason! lol! :confused3
I know it stinks to hear that but it is usually true in hindsight! Anyway, I am glad to hear that you have such a great outlook on the whoel situation! Keep up the positive thinking, and perhaps you job may consider a special prize for you with your special circumstances. I mean its obvisious, you cant do as much as the others. Anyway good luck!

Wouldn't 'cha know it??? Sorry about your foot, but glad that it was ONLY your foot that you broke...stupid ice!!

That really stinks!!! But don't get discouraged!!! Thank goodness you are able to get up and at em a little bit (don't over do it!) and don't worry about the exercise..you can still get quite a good workout sitting on a chair using milk jugs for bicep curls! :) Or folding clothes, doing sit-ups...maybe by some Abdominal Fit Videos...Abs of steel or such...you can still manage to keep yourself fit...it'll just take a little creativity...give your leg time to heal and WOW! What a great time for your company to have that challenge...that will really help you stay focused!!! I'm a 2-3 a day person...have really got to push it up! :)

Oh No! Oh Nancy, I am so sorry to hear about your foot. :( I hope it heals perfectly and never causes you any additional problems.

Your company sounds GREAT! Good luck with that challenge. Just do what you can. I bet you take more steps than you realize - even with a broken foot!

The 5 fruits/veggie challenge would be the harder challenge for me.

Nancy, I'm sorry to hear about your broken foot! :wizard: PD on it's way for speeddy, pain-free healing!

I'm glad you're not going to let it stop you from getting back on track with your exercise & WW program. Tara had some good suggestions for things you still can do even though they won't show up on the pedometer. Hang in there, you can do it! :cheer2:

Well, I'm "cheating" a little on my steps! I take the elevator up the stairs now so while I'm in the elevator i raise and lower my leg to move the numbers....I just count out how many steps I would have climbed (I know I shouldn't cheat, but I figure raising and lowering my leg is exercise) I'm actually getting around a bit better then I thought I would. With the walking cast on my foot doesn't hurt at all, but if I overdo it my leg gets very tired, because the cast is heavy, and then I get leg cramps. Stairs are hard, but mainly because I'm afraid of losing my balance and falling!
