 It was a Macro for my Canon rebel. OMG.

I hated to tell DH and ask for a new one in the same breathe.

We have planned to go back to wdw next summer, and stay at AKL. What kind of lens would you guys get to take pics of the animals. I am in the market for a new lens.

What lens was it? How is it broken?
Depending on what broke you might be able to have it repaired for less than a price of a new one.
Depending on the mfg of the lens, and type of repair turn around time could be about two weeks.

If this helps, this photo was taken in the evening (December 13, 2011) from the AKL wildlife viewing area using my D200 and a 70-300mm zoom lens. i did only a minor amount of cropping.

The Camera's metadata shows the focal length was 190.0 mm (in 35mm: 285.0 mm). I used a monopod for support and was able to take this at 1/30 sec; f/5.6 with ISO 1600.

What a GREAT photo!

I did take it down to Denver to a Canon shop down there, and they said it could not be fixed.
