I bet this has never happened to you

A couple of trips ago, we stayed at the Poly for one night just to check it out. At check in the CM told us we had been given the room next to our family. What? It was just my DD and I traveling. Of course it was someone with our same last name (fairly uncommon one) and they wanted us to be be together. I looked for my 'long lost' family members but didn't see them.

While it may have been a mistake, you have to give it to Disney for trying to make the best room assignment and make things good for their guests.

I was hoping she was out there somewhere. On the last day my daughter was in the lounge and she said she thought she saw the other MW talking to a manager and he was apoligizing. She could not hear exactly what had happened but apparently she got compt for something.

We had the opposite on a flight - Russ and I and my father (also Russ, different last name) were flying from Seattle. I got a tag for the stroller and the gate agent checked our seating assignments. Five minutes later she called my father to the front and told him that she was moving his seat so he wouldn't be stuck next to a toddler. Very sweet of her, but he declined and told her he was with the toddler. She said, "Oh, Russ...Russ...!"

Once, before 9/11, we flew with my grandfather (Russell C) and father (Russell G) and Grandpa was checked in twice and Dad not at all. They canceled his flight in Atlanta since he didn't get on the plane in Newark. That was a huge mess and we almost missed our cruise.

Maybe we should quit naming people Russ.

I usually don't make many ADR's, but since I've run into other travelers with my name (a fairly common one), I always make them using my home phone as the reference instead of using my reservation confirmation. So far, I haven't had any trouble with cancelled ones. I would be extremely upset if one was cancelled or given to someone else by mistake.

I'm pretty sure that there won't be any mixups with my name. My first name is only remotely common in Spain and a few Latin countries and my last name...well, maybe if it was Jersey week.

Now my maiden name is the most common name out there. And people wonder why I didn't stick with White.

I find this thread kinda funny. I have a fairly uncommon first name (only met 3 others with it spelled the same way in my life). So, imagine my surprise when I try to pull up my wedding registry (10+ years ago) and discover that there's another D, with a last name only one letter different than mine, getting married on the same day - in March, nonetheless - but over 2000 miles away! Of course, we both had to register with the May Co. department stores! I don't think anyone got confused, but I was still blown away by the coincidence.

We were swimming at the Dig Site at CSR in Oct '03, and my kids ran up saying they found other kids with their names (not really common names either: Delany and Quinn) and same ages. And their mom had the same first name as my wife!::yes::

My Dad went to pick up his maltese at the groomers about a year ago, and wondered why she was acting funny. She wouldn't get out of the car and then wouldn't follow him in. Once he dragged her inside, she cowered in a corner. The groomer gave him the wrong dog!:rotfl2:

I'd call the 7th floor conscierge and explain that happened. Ask them if they cancelled any more of our ADR's and to please remake them if they had.

My husband once picked up our pizza without looking at it first. He came home and it had the wrong toppings on it. Well we were very hungry so we ate it anyways. About 10 minutes later my brother and sister in law come knocking on our door wanting their pizza. It was very funny that we had ordered pizza at the same time from the same pizzeria.

I have a fairly unusual last name, but surprisingly this has happened to me also. We had reservations for dinner at a specialty restaurant on a cruise and it turned out that there was another couple with the same last name reserved for the same evening in the same restaurant. It seems so unlikely that this would happen, but it did.

This has never happened to me my married name is not common but I do have a unique maiden name "Hollywood"
