We arrived May 25 with my daughter, son in law and two grandkids staying at WL - deluxe room. I am staying at CR with one grandchild. When she checks in they tell her they show her already checking in. Everyone is confused. They ask are you children this and this. No, my children are so and so. Well guess what? There is another person with the same name as my daughters staying 7th floor concierge. Ok, she is on the 7th floor and my daughter in on the first floor in a deluxe room. The first night we meet them for dinner at WCC and upon check in find out our reservation was cancelled by the 7th floor conciergethat morning . See where we are going with this? WCC was able to fit us in but it was a mess getting all the ADRs straightened out. I'm sure the other person was wondering where the heck those ADRs came from that she did not make. So, if the other MW is out there, hope you had a magical time despite all the problems.

That is really funny! Well, I'm sure it wasn't funny for you at the time! Anyway, you would think they would have been able to see two seperate reservation numbers and apply the ADRs to that.

This reminds me of when I was a kid and my family went to WDW, first time staying on propery and we stayed at CR. I think this was 1990. My dad's brother and his family had gone the week before and stayed at the same resort. It was a problem at check-in because when my dad gave the name they said, "You already checked-out!" I don't remember any details on how they worked it all out, but you would think by NOW they would realize that some people DO have the same names!

Actually, this HAS happened to my family- but not in Disney, in St. Maartin AND we KNEW the family! :rotfl2: (but haven't talked to them in ages so didn't know that they had the timeshare down there or that they were going)

So we ran into them at the resort one day laughed and said "hi."

We have a favorite restaurant that we go to at least once (been down there twice) because it's absolutely amazing and right on the water and the staff is wonderful.

We show up for our 9pm reservation and provide the woman our last name. They speak French there although they deal with American tourists frequently. But the hostess knew us from the previous night and is extremely friendly- "ah Mr. and Mrs. S, you must hear this story! At 7pm another Mrs. S came here demanding that they had a reservation for 7pm... " The hostess appologetically them that while they were full for the night, she could seat them in 30-40 minutes. They could walk around town or sit at the bar while they waited. Apparently the other Mrs. S was extremely rude to her (no surprise) and yelled at her before huffing off.

We ran into the other S's and they told us that the restaurant cancelled their reservation without them knowing and was horrible to them.

My family had the hostess sit down with us and relax for a few minutes, she was so bothered by the whole thing. We even took a picture with her.

Years ago, my mom and dad and I stayed at a hotel that was having a "Jim Smith" convention. We wondered how on earth they determined who was in what room??

As my dad (whose first name is also Jim) was coming back to the car from checking in while my mom and I waited in the car, a bunch of men walked out with him. I got out of the car and yelled, "Hey, Jim" and every single man looked in my direction. My mom and I just cracked up laughing!!! :rotfl: My dad didn't find it quite so funny.

Growing up, I had a classmate named Alison Duck. Her dad and my dad worked together, but he always had a tough time making reservations anywhere-especially at WDW because his name was Donald Duck (he was actually older than Disney's Donald)!

What a coincidence! wow all your ADR's in jeopardy :scared:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Well at least they didn't name him Daffy!

I'm sure several John Smith's are staying on property at any given time as well...

My name is John Knox - which is a more common name than you might think.

While I was at CSR last week .. I started the check-in process and they were like so Mr. Knox, we have you in such and such suite and your wife Carol has left you a message.. and I was like "Umm.. no.. and I have no wife!" and they say.. You're not from.. Bla-De-Bla, Illinois.. and I say.. "Umm... noo....."

So funny you should bring this up..

My husband and I were called to dinner by one of the "moms" at the Primetime Cafe. When she attempted to seat us at a table for six people, instead of 2, we thought it would be great to have that much room to spread out, but knew it had to be as mistake. Turned out that another family group with our last name had booked for the same time, date and restaurant we had. Only time in our life anything like this has ever happened - we have a very unusual last name.

Disney computers never forget. On our 1st trip we had Cinderella's Royal Table reservations in September. We have a very uncommon / odd last name. When we checked in, we just gave our last name, figuring there would be noone else there with it. They asked if I was Andrew or Jeff. Jeff is my uncle who's a few yrs older than me. He and his family had been at WDW the previous June and also had dined at CRT and were still in the computer.

When we make reservations locally we usually use something easy like Andrews for the last name because nobody spells or pronounces our last name correctly. Got that tip from a friend who had a difficult last name, again not easy to spell, when we went out and he said reservations for Daniels (Dan/Daniel was his first name).

I have a fairly unusual last name, but surprisingly this has happened to me also. We had reservations for dinner at a specialty restaurant on a cruise and it turned out that there was another couple with the same last name reserved for the same evening in the same restaurant. It seems so unlikely that this would happen, but it did.

My husband's family has a rare last name for our region of the US, but it's very common in other regions and in Eastern Europe. Imagine our surprise when we checked in at AKL during a family reunion where there were 14 other families with the same last name! That's when we did a bit of research on the family name, and found out how popular it really is.

I knew a family that had another bizarre chance encounter. Wayne and his family went on vacation from Michigan and drove out west. They pulled off for the night and stopped at a motel (it was either in Kansas or Oklahoma). Wayne's last name is a rather unique name that is a Dutch name that got mangled when his great-grandfather went through Ellis Island. It's pretty safe to assume that anyone with the same spelling of his last name is related to him. As he checked in the clerk said "Oh, the rest of people in your party have already arrived!" Wayne was puzzled. It turns out his brother who lived in another state, had checked into the same motel on the same night. Neither brother knew the other was even on vacation!

As far as the ADR's go..................they should have asked for the ADR number and cancelled it that way, instead of just going by the name.

:rotfl2: I'm glad I tookmy DH's really hard to spell and pronounce last name after reading this.
