WHO is tired of hearing this? Not only is it on EVERY "Vote For Me" commercial on TV and radio, but our local advertisers are starting to use it as well!!!! It is rather annoying hearing that 5,000 times in ONE day!

LOL - I agree. It is also irritating having to answer the door in your PJs at 7:00 so the local representative can tell you why you should vote for him!

Yep. I can't wait for this election day to be over.

There's apparantly a law that requires them to say "I'm______ and I approved this message." Not sure what the point of it is, but I'm starting to hear it in my sleep!

(I'm goofygirl and I approved this message!)

 What dingbat made up THAT law???? I think there are more important things to do with laws than that!

I cannot believe you people. You are tired of all the threads with people arguing about each and every little detail of the upcoming election? Threads which proclaim what a miserable job the current administration is doing and what a great thing change would be? Threads which bash the new choice for the Presidential position and his entire family? You folks are just to hard to please.

Of course I am kidding. I am tired of this situation too, along with all of the personal attacks on this board when you voice your personal opinion. I wish peace to you all.

Speaking of the door-to-door people - I had a girl come to my door last week representing one of the local candidates. She set off a nasty chain of events.

First, my dog got excited and barged out the door and ran down the street. Then she dropped her flyers, which blew all over my front lawn. So while I'm trying to get my dog back, she's chasing flyers around, and STILL trying to talk to me about why I should vote for this guy.

I haven't gotten any local reps here, I think they come when I am not home ;)

Darn, and here I was REALLY looking forward to their visit! :p

This requirement is part of the last campaign reform bill (McCain-Feingold) so that people know exactly who is responsible for the ad. Of course this act also created those wonderful 527s.

Anyway, this was but one part of a larger bill.

Some of us are very concerned about this upcoming election on NOV.2... I realize that some people do not want to be bothered with statistics, poll results etc. However... I hope they are not the people who will be complaining the loudest about government policies after NOV. 2....

If you do not want to listen to political telephone callers.. all you have to do is POLITELY say " I am not interested, PLEASE take me off of your calling list." If a city, county, state, federal candidate knocks on your door and you are not interested in learning about his ideas... say "No thank you, have a good day"

Not hard at all.. really.

I have just spent several hours calling registered Democrats/Independents in my county who did not vote in the last election.. I am urging them to vote .... I only had one hang up. Most were willing to listen to me urge them to vote on Nov. 2, since this is a very important election with many issues to decide. I am working with the County Democratic Committee.

The statement about candidates approving the message in general public announcements is necessary because then you know right away if the candidate KNOWS what is being said about him. Especially important for those negative commercials and print ads..
